we really enjoyed this beautiful riad, so close to the lively centre of marrakech, yet very comfortable, quite and peaceful. moreover, we loved Fouzia, who gave us very tasty breakfasts, made our rooms so nice and clean, and assisted us with organizing trips outside of marrakech. considering all of our travel experience, we cannot imagine a better place in marrakech than this one!

The riad is beautiful and in a perfect location close to the main attractions of the Medina. I would definitely stay here again.

My family loved the riad experience. It allowed us to get a more authentic feel of Marrakesh. The rooms were of a good size, and the bathrooms were impressive. We had more than enough space for relaxation within the riad's confines. The location was a 5-min walk to the souk; and just outside the quartier were spice shops, cafe, stores. Breakfast and daily cleaning are included in the rate. Fauzia took good care of us, tried her best even if she spoke limited English. She routinely checked whether the breakfast she had in mind was all right, and what time we wanted it served. The riad was always very clean: not the usual cursory dusting, but thorough scrubbing, emptying of trash, airing of linens, and changing of towels. For a fee, she also agreed to wash and fold our clothes in preparation for the next leg of our trip. Living in the riad meant more than the usual noise, though, since windows opened to the alleys. This, I guess, is part of the authentic experience. We would have wanted to use the top deck for drinks, too. But aside from the cat that lived in the riad, there were others on the rooftop. Since I am allergic to cats, I wasn't able to enjoy this feature. All in all, it was a memorable stay.

Response from Steven:
Hi Armi Sorry to hear you're allergic to cats. I wish you had told me and I would have asked Fouzia to take it back to her house during your stay. As for people on the other terraces - that's the Medina - but there are good areas where your not overlooked. Finally the map of the Medina is so bad that it's quite impossible to get it more accurate. All in all I hope we made your overall stay an enjoyable one Best Steven

This is a lovely riad, perfectly located, great wifi, amazing breakfasts and super clean. kids loved it. Steven kindly allowed us to arrive a couple hours early due to train times. The house is kept really clean, and it is a quiet riad in the middle of a busy medina. The Jemma el Fna square, the hub and life of Marrakesh, is literally 4 minutes walk away with loads of amazing restaurants and shops everywhere. we thought the driver and cook were overpriced but that is our opinion on what is value for money or not. I will definitively recommend this to others.

Riad La Cigogne is a little gem of a place right in the heart of Marrakech. Madame Fouzia the housekeeper is wonderfully friendly and only too happy to help out with directions advice or transfer assistance. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone - it is well worth a visit.
