A startup (Academia.edu), which is owned and run by the other person in the apartment, Richard Price, rents the living room and is based there. So the atmosphere in the apartment is buzzing and active and fun!
The neighborhood is North Beach, San Francisco, which is Little Italy: it is full of Italian cafes and restaurants. It is about 5 mins walk from the bay, and about 10 minutes walk from a beach.
