Beautiful Cozy Treehouse near Beach

Claudine and her son Joya were amazing hosts. We couldn't have asked for more. The tree house was a brilliant experience. If you like the alternative life style and sleeping outside this is perfect.

Claudine is awesome as is her Treehouse. We were looking for a totally unique, fun place to stay during our surf trip to Santa Cruz and found exactly that in Claudine's treehouse. Claudine was extremely hospitable and was a lot of fun to get to know in our one night staying with her. I'll go stay there again sometime soon for sure.

A little hidden gem in Santa Cruz! Especially if you are looking for something eco-friendly and unique! Claudine is a wonderful, caring and helpful host! We will definitely come back next time we are in Santa Cruz!

Claudine's treehouse is quite impressive and very comfortable. Hardwood floors, furnished with a twin bed, and some great views out the windows. Claudine couldn't have been nicer or more helpful with check-in. Overall a great experience.

Claudine's place is really magical. She is quite an interesting woman (and I didn't even meet her!). While she was away she had a really wonderful woman hosting me, and she was absolutely great! The pace *may* not be for everyone - for those wanting a 'catered' experience. This is a truly authentic and genuine place. ALSO the tree house is pretty darn high in the air, so if you're scared to climb up a tree (on a rope ladder) you may want to stay in her cobb house. There was some street noise one night that I was staying up there, so suggestions to bring earplugs if you're sensitive to that. Otherwise, a really cool experience with genuine people.

This is a great little place! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take a walk on the wild side. In addition, if you are someone who is eco-friendly, earth conscious definitely a great place to stay. It is a bit cozy for 2 but certainly do-able. We had trekked up the cost in rain and stop and go traffic and were a bit tired and frozen when we got there. However, the place itself is very neat and I would definitely stay there again. Claudine was super friendly and it was a pleasure to chat with :)

We had such an adventure in the treehouse! An exhilarating climb, beautiful view, very cozy inside. Our hostess was very welcoming and we felt very comfortable, even so high in the air :)

Its an awesome escape away from the daily hustle-bustle. The 'cob' makes you realize how simple life can be and what little you need under a roof. Claudine was an excellent host, she made sure we were comfortable in every way. We were here for just one night, but wish were here for longer. The 'cob' was quite reminiscent of small straw and clay huts in rural India for us, and Claudine tells us that they are making a comeback now. Since the cob is made of earthen materials it doesn't insulate well against sound or heat. Thankfully theres a wonderful fireplace inside and waking up in the mornings to the sounds of birds chirping is something we all lack in whatever houses we live in.

WE LOVED the firplace! We stayed for three nights in the cobb hut and couldn't get enough fireside time. We also experienced the sauna which was equally magical. It was a little difficult to not have a bathroom to ourselves for such a long stay but for one night it wouldn't have been a problem. We also had the sensation we were staying in someone else's bedroom, not a guest room, which was a little uncomfortable. Claudine is very helpful and accomodating though, and we parked the car and walked everywhere for our whole stay which was a nice break. Overall a wonderful weekend!

we had a wonderful stay in the earthen cob guest house! it was the coziest weekend ever. rain on a tin roof, warm fire, dry earthy interior, and a good bed. oddly, this is in the middle of downtown santa cruz! walking distance to everything. many thanks to claudine, a sincere and kind host. she made the fire each night for us and gave many great tips on the santa cruz scene. we are inspired to build a cob home too someday!

Claudine was very nice on the phone. Her son greeted us and made sure we were settled in, he was also very nice and respectful. Overall it was a cute place, but perhaps a bit pricey for the digs. Thanks Claudine & Jaio

Cozy cob cottage oozes of creativity and imagination! We really enjoyed the sleeping space Claudine created and her fun backyard with chickens and a cat, which was a delight to the senses of my urbanite son. Claudine is a very welcoming and warm host! She pointed us on our way to walk to the boardwalk which was an easy walk and recommended a spot for dinner. Overall, we had a great time!

Claudine is an excellent host who truly loves being one with the environment as is pretty obvious by the structures that she built. My wife and I stayed in the large cob room and it was very cozy. It was not too hot nor too cold, but we did try the heated mattress for extra coziness. :) She has been working on a kitchen right outside this room. When it's finished, it will definitely be a huge bonus to whoever stays here. :)

I highly recommend staying at Claudine's place in Santa Cruz. She has designed a truly creative, earthy and beautiful space which fosters relaxation and enjoyment. In addition she is a wonderful and thoughtful hostess.
