About this listing

Walk from this quiet residential area adjacent to the Garavogue River, into Sligo town in less than 10 minutes. We are just 20 mins walk from bus and train station. Stay a while if you love traditional Irish music or poetry, or just beautiful landscapes. We can arrange pick-up at the river, 2 mins walk away, so you can travel by canoe or boat to travel to Lake Isle of Innisfree.

The space

Recently modernised 4-bedroom house with two bathrooms and stove in living area. Central heating throughout. The house is spacious and the room available is a very large bedroom with private bathroom.

The house is 2 minute walking distance to the lovely Garavogue River, a children's park and 'Outdoor Gym'. Also within 8 minute (literally!) of the town.

Sligo is a great base for getting to the sea (Rosses Point and Strandhill about ten minute drive, buses to both); and of course close to Yeat's most loved and written about locations. Great music in the local pubs.

Walking distance (about 20 mins) to train and bus station; local bus at bottom of street. We are cyclists and there is a locked shed if you want to store you bike at night.

Guest access

Breakfast served in the morning - nothing fancy, from porridge to scrambled egg, toast or just juice!

Interaction with guests

We enjoy having guests and have hosted guests from France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Oman! It's rare that we have guests that we don't have a cup of tea with, or a glass of wine with in the evening. Some even timed their visit to be able to enjoy our home-grown salad! For guests that arrive by bus or train, we usually drive you to local spots you might want to enjoy, like our local mountain for a spot of hill walking or Yeat's grave out at Drumcliffe.

Other things to note

We have a visiting cat (known as Berbi) who spends time in our living room and we recently added Teddy, a cute, little mutt of a rescue dog, to the family.

There's a great canoeing company (adventu(URL HIDDEN) that will bring the canoes to the Garavogue River just 5 mins walk from us - and are wonderful guides!

With my girlfriend Chiara, we spent two nights at Patricia’s: the room was as lovely as we expected from the pictures, and her house is a 10 minutes walk from the Center of the Town, but in a very quiet neighborhood. We had a beautiful stay, Patricia treated Us like members of the family, on the arrival we were very tired after a long, chilly day and enjoyed a lot a warm tea and chatting with her and her daughter Niamh near the stove. Their advices have been precious, allowing us to visit two beautiful and interesting places (Lissadel house + Knockarea) we wouldn’t have gone to, following our schedule. As for the breakfast, we loved the pancakes, and even if one day Patricia had to leave the house in the morning, we found in the kitchen all we needed to help ourselves. We would definitely recommend this place... Maybe the only problem is that little Teddy is too adorable to leave! :)

We had a wonderful time staying at Patricia's for a few days for a friends wedding. Patricia is warm, welcoming and wonderful and was incredibly kind to us during our stay. The room is large and comfy and the location is quiet and fantastically a short walk into Sligo. Thanks again Patricia, we had a great time.

This hostess, Patricia, is very welcoming, friendly, helpful , and a pleasure to stay with while in Sligo. Her description is very accurate and her home is very well situated to the downtown area, yet very quiet once back at her place. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Homey, lively, engaged, committed to our welfare. Stimulating conversation. Location could not be much better, so close to the river which is lovely (who needs the Seine when you have the Garavogue). Pee and her sweet associate made us welcome, like family. Scones at Kate's set the bar high.

I am a somewhat travelled woman, having living in the US for 10 years, Britain and now back home in Ireland. I've worked in a number of different areas, some interesting like wind energy development, and some not...;-) I am now teaching.

I used to love travelling by myself to places like Central America and the Middle East, but now I travel with my Mother (the kind of 82 year old that everyone loves, not the crotchety kind!), and my daughter (who plays the fiddle and tin whistle, but not on holidays...), so I'm a little more conventional in my choice of holidays now.
