Erica and Greg are well deserving of their 'super-host' status! Their warmth and helpfulness has been wonderful for making our stay in Montevideo truly top notch. They have thought of everything and the flat is not only well stocked with all necessary equipment and amenities, it is also beautiful, quiet and wonderfully located right on the pedestrian street of Sarandi in the heart of the old city. They provided us with every conceivable piece of information we could have needed and were available to help us with any further questions we had. We couldn't recommend the flat and the hosts any higher! Thanks so much.

I think I'll start by clarifying that I'm a local. I had to rent a place for myself for a week and I obviously made the right choice with this apt. It's perfectly located in Montevideo's quintessensial street... If you really want to experience this city, this is the place to start. Greg was right on time and ready to handle the keys. The apt was spotless and I quickly settled in. The hosts contact me reasonably often to make sure I got all I needed. This is an ideal apt for 2, maybe 3 people who want to stay out for most of the day, either sightseeing or working (like me) and need a comfty but practical place to sleep and shower. Wifi was good (I work remotely and need good internet speed), the shower was great, and I had a bazillion places to eat breakfast. I couldn't ask for more.

The photos used to portray the apartment don't really show the size of the rooms, nor the relationship between the various functions (eg. kitchen, bathroom, etc.). From the photo's we assumed a much larger apartment than the actual. BEDROOM: this is tight room with only a small amount of room between the bed and wall. There is good cupboard space. The bed was comfortable. KITCHEN: while the amenities shown nare OK, the layout is dysfunctional. BATHROOM: we are small and thin and we found the room extra small. LOUNGEROOM: comfortable, with good WiFi. ACCESS: there is an old lift that relies on the user making sure they leave the 'gates' closed. Several times access by lift was denied. OVERALL: the apartment is not 'bright and fresh' and contrary to the perception offered in the pictures is small. But, we still enjoyed our stay.

Response from Erica And Greg:
Bruce and Judy were very nice to us and didn’t give us any sign that our apartment wasn’t a good fit for them until we received their review. We are upfront and honest with our guests; our listing clearly states that our apartment is 33 sq. meters. Pictures can’t always show layout, so that is why we include a detailed layout drawing of our apartment at the end of our listing’s picture gallery. No matter how hard we try, it is hard to please everyone. We look forward to hosting many more guests from around the world in our apartment and share a piece of the Montevideo we love with them!

We plan to travel five weeks in Uruguay and we selected this place as our first stay. And it was a good stay. Even before we came Greg helped us with advise about the transfer from the airport, about the SIM cards to use. And he was there when we arrived at 14:30 in the morning to let us in the apartment. Compliments Greg. The apartment is a complete small house, everything is available including good WiFi. It is situated in the Old City of Montevideo and all tourist attractions are in walking range. Recommended.

This apartment, hosted by Greg and Erica, is a great value with its hip decor, high ceilings, and a nice quiet location on the pedestrian street of Sarandi. The adjustable coffee table in front of the comfy couch was where we ate our meals and our bed with memory foam pillows and cotton sheets was clean and comfortable. I was able to make several small meals with the provided kitchen supplies which were in good condition. The apartment is nicely situated between Plaza de Independence and Plaza Mercado with several restaurants in between which was convenient. The neighborhood of Ciudad Viejo has a gritty "downtown vib" with bohemians selling their wares on the pedestrian street below whilst bankers/businessmen stand outside their office buildings smoking cigs one block over. Erica responded to questions/communications promptly and took care of any/all concerns right away. And FYI to long distance travelers, it was so AWESOME that Greg was waiting there to let me in the apartment at 8am after my 22 hour flight from California!

Greg and Erica received us very well, with all necessary instruction about the apartment and surroundings. They prepared a kind of manual that includes all you need to make the stay as comfort as possible, including best places to visit, restaurants, supermarkets, transportation, etc. They also provided a mobile phone (pre-paid), which is very useful when you are abroad. It was very easy to contact them for any reason, with immediate response. The apartment is in a historical building in the old city, close to the main touristic sightseeing, supermarket, bus and taxi station, restaurantes and bakery. You can find everything within a walking distance. It was completed furnitured with all necessary for our stay. Despite its age, the apto was completely renovated. The only problem was the hot weather in January. During the night, the apartment was too hot and the portable air conditioner could not make it easy.

We stayed at Erica and Gregoire's apartment over the Christmas and New Year period, the apartment is exactly like it is in the pictures. We loved it, spacious apartment with bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom all with high ceilings and loads of natural light. The kitchen has a fridge, gas hob and small convection oven and we cooked roast beef and roast veg Xmas day, the shower is lovely and always had hot water, the wifi is also great and constant. Greg and Erica were lovely and always at the end of an email if required, they also leave a pay as you go mobile in the apartment if you need to use it and a great information pack of where to eat, shop and things to do. The apartment is in a great location in the old town, a few blocks from The Rambla and Puerto Mercado, Plaza Independence and close to supermarkets. The apartment has everything you need, fan, AC, hairdryer, iron, towels, cleaning equipment and the kitchen is well equipped. It also looks out onto the pedestrian street Sarandi where there are street traders. The apartment building has good security as the outside door is always locked. We would 100% recommend this apartment, our bus was not until late and Erica and Greg let us check out late, thank you Erica and Greg for all your kindness and giving us a home away from home, our first airbnb experience and an excellent one.
