Bonjour!
Your own 2nd floor in our home...with a private bedroom with queen sized bed & private bathroom.
There are also TV and reading areas for your use.
We walk through the 2nd floor hallway to get to our 3rd floor.

Luxury plush robes, made out of soft, ecological bamboo, are waiting for you!

House is decorated Provencal, as we are obsessed with all things French! We are a well traveled couple who love guests!
Very liberal politically. Intermediate French spoken.

Continental breakfast (help yourself, no set time...), is lovely at the table in the private back garden (weather dependent), and the garden is available for your use anytime!
Have an aperitif, a bottle of wine, and relax and watch the sun set.
There is a nice sized back garden and a petanque court... Fresh figs from our fig tree in season.
It's great to come home and relax out there. After a long day of sightseeing, or after you come home from dinner...
**NEW INFO: PATIO addition IN BACKYARD-foundation/walls completed IN JANUARY, 2012! Should have it decorated shortly.
Stay tuned for more pics! Yay!

We have two indoor cats, but keep the door closed to your bedroom. The cats do not go in there.
Singha is 15, elderly, shy, and moans loudly sometimes, I think she's getting hard of hearing...(there is a litter box in a closet in the 2nd floor bathroom that is seldom used). Katie of Chincoteague is 13; loves only the two of us-stays away due to old age/health.

Of course, we have free Wifi...and also Wii & WiiFit.

New room air conditioner in your bedroom (during summer), bought August 2010.
Brand new locally made pottery bathroom sink and vanity in your bath as well.

1853 three story, corner -city townhouse.

*Please note, weekends and holidays- we've added a bit on to our rate-to cover for air conditioning/heating, in our old house!

Location is Center City Philadelphia. Northern Liberties is a very trendy, artsy section of Philly, similar to the Canal St. Martin area in Paris or a bit like the Village. Lots of cafes, artist galleries, restaurants and shops. The Piazza is less than two blocks away.

**Vibrant and urban area...

We have a great coffee shop one block away-One Shot Coffee-and about 5 other coffee shops & tea rooms within our neighborhood.
Lots of tasty restaurants are just blocks away: Standard Tap (gastropub with local beer & roof deck), Sonata BYOB (Amer/French), Bar Ferdinand (Tapas), Paesano's (Sandwiches), N. Third, Silk City & Honey's (Diners), Koozeedo (Portugese) BYOB, Modo Mio (Italian) BYOB, Cafe Estelle (local ingredients), BYOB and many, many others.
Northern Liberties is one of "The 15 hippest places to live".

It's a nice walk to the Liberty Bell-Constitution Center-Old City; a bit over a mile, or the bus stops right in front of our house. Close to the Girard or Spring Garden stops of the Market/Frankford El.
On street parking, no meters.

We'd be happy to recommend restaurants in our 'hood or anywhere in Philadelphia.
Merci!
Susan & Sam
P.S. -3/25/11, The Philadelphia Daily News published a very nice story on our neighborhood.

  • About: We are very liberal, animal loving, travelers ourselves. Mainly Europe, mainly France...love good wine and food. Love to go to the Farmers markets... Staying with us is very comfortable; you are staying on a floor in our home. We're down to earth and understand how to read people....if you'd like privacy, that's fine-we'll happily leave you alone. If you'd like to talk, that's fine too! We know a lot about the restaurants in our neighborhood and Philly, feel free to ask. Sam and I work in the Arts, so we are knowledgeable about theatre, museums and events in the area. Life is short, enJOY every minute! "I am still learning."
