Daniel Gale accepted a position with a different company and has moved on from The Virginian. He thanks all the travelers that he has met over the past 2.5 years and hopes everyone will continue to consider The Virginian for your stays in Seattle. Steve Suarez has taken over building management and operating of our Vacation Rentals, effective October 1, 2011.

Old World Charm
The Virginian Apartments was once an elegant Victorian hotel dating back to 1918 where early Seattle pioneers stayed. Very little has changed in the building. The original granite entry between the school house lamps now has a gold leaf silhouette of Benjamin Franklin tipping his hat to guests as they arrive. The mahogany grand staircase, ornate mirror and original lamp fixtures are still there. Yes, there are even the old ice chests with wire shelves used for dishes now, and deep "soaking" tubs.

Updated—Yet Still Classic: This SPECIAL Vacation Rental Unit has been updated from original with modern appliances, light fixtures, toilet, and kitchen sink. PARTIALLY furnished with mostly vintage 1960s furnishings, guests find this vacation rental unit very affordable, cozy, and warm.

NOTE - This unit is equipped with a TV and DVD player, but NO cable television service. July 2011, we just added Wireless Internet service to this unit. The kitchen is equipped with limited cooking and eating dishes and utencils, but enough to prepare very basic foods. Bedding and towels are provided.

Convenient Downtown Stays: Stays at The Virginian offers a vacation of convenience. Being located at the south end of the Belltown Neighborhood puts our guests within walking distance to the Shopping District of downtown Seattle and close to Pike Place Market and the waterfront.

Nightlife at its Best! Belltown is the epicenter of Seattle’s restaurant scene, with hot nightclubs, cool shops, great places to play. Walking distance to all major attractions, and just a short bus or taxi ride to the rest. Find out about our neighborhood by visiting: (website hidden)

  • Our stay at the Virginian was very pleasant. The location was the best part - walking distance to Pike Place and the major shopping district and pretty close to the free bus area (which we were able to take back to the Amtrak station). Amenities were bare but just what we needed. Would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

  • We stayed in Special Room #204 and it was awesome! Steve is a really nice person who was there to help us if we needed. He gave us some of the best advice on parking, which probably saved us close to $60! The room itself is exactly what we (two graduate students) expected. It had very comfortable beds, a small tv, a kitchen, and a bathroom. This isn't your typical cookie cutter hotel room though, this is an actual apartment. Small, but awesome and full of character. You window faces the street (across the street there is an awesome bakery), and you can park your car in view at night. The area itself is very nice. To touch on what a few others have said, we did see the occasional bum every now and then, but they mainly keep to themselves. Unlike most cities, they didn't bug us for money and we didn't see as many as we thought we would. This part of town is pretty clean, but we did observe other parts of the city where there were a few more bums. A few other things that are worth mentioning. The shower seems to have an endless supply of hot water! The city sounds at night with the window open are awesome and almost soothing, and if you don't like the sounds the window is made with thick glass or something since it cuts the sound out. The beds are really comfy. The WiFi is fast. I will definitely be staying at Special Room #204 in the future.

  • Steve was wonderful and accommodating. We had such a great time in Seattle which was definitely due to the fact that we had a clean, safe place to stay with a great landlord! Thank you Steve!

  • Room 204- is a great place to stay if you're traveling in a budget like me! The location was what made this place amazing!!! Everything is literally a 5-10min walk away! The space needle a little further but everything's is within walking distance! The shower was a little finicky at times, and it did smell a little like garlic. But we threw out the garlic- opened the windows sprayed lysol; and it smelled great the rest of the time! It is ideal for travel in the heart of the city! The weather was gorgeous- sunny with some overcast- but the heaters worked for those chilly nights. The living room/bedroom is cramped, but perfect for the price. Across the street from a bed bath and beyond, restaurants, and a bakery- down the street from the mall- a Starbucks around every corner; this place was great! Definitely would stay again.

  • Room 204 is a cheap, simple centrally located room. Steve was lovely, quick to respond and is accommodating on any requests, questions or alterations to your stay. The room is about what you would expect for $50 a night. The shower is a little temperamental and we bought some new sheets on our first night. If you are traveling on a budget room 204 is a good option.

  • where to start... first off whats up Steve.. and to anyone else reading on this room or facility... stop reading and book it before me or someone else does!!! its a small room perfect for my wife and i.. can fit another person or 2 MAYBE.. but you dont need a car from there at all... about a mile max to pikes place and the water front... about 2.5 miles to the stadiums... so no need for parking... i asked Steve about some good places to eat.. he had spare time so Steve, my wife and i took off walking to etta's which was super packed.. then went 2 doors down.. cant remember the place but right on the corner to the right if ur facing ettas... great food and good happy hour lol... id rate this experience a 10 out of 10.. great host will definitely go back

  • The previous reviews are pretty accurate on this room. It is very centrally located, with easy access to both the light rail as well as city busses. It is alos close to numerous restaurants and shoppings, not to mention the space needle. We had very realistic expectations for this room. Having read the reviews, we weren't expecting too much. However, the one thing we were hoping to have was clean bedding. The bedding was filthy. The first thing we did in Seattle was go to a nearby Bed, Bath, and Beyond to purchase new sheets, pillows, pillowcases, and blankets. Other than the bedding issue, we enjoyed our stay, and had no other complaints. Steve was friendly and accomodating to everything we needed. So, stay here if you are looking for a good deal, but bring your own bedding.

  • The Virginian is a wonderful place to stay! It is downtown, close to everything, as well as easy and central to get to. The only drawback was available parking but one call to Steve solved everything! Steve was more than helpful and an awesome host! Special Room #204 was just as the description said it was. A full kitchen, bathroom, and more than enough living space. If I spend another weekend in Seattle, i will be staying at the Virginian!

  • The Virginian (as so many others have said) is in probably the most excellent location you will find. Its mostly less then ten blocks from almost everything (Rail Station, Convention Center, Space Needle, Cinerama), and also has restaurants and grocery nearby. Steve was great, I never saw him (I was gone pretty much all the days and was only there late at night) but the few questions I had I asked by text message and got a response back no later then 15min. I hope to stay again (and longer too).

  • The Virginian is an older apartment building in Belltown. It is very convenient to much of the city. The building is a bit threadbare but felt clean and safe. Free wi-fi in the room. Bathroom and kitchen were very clean. The price is right for the location, privacy, and basic needs that the unit fulfills.
