The ART Hotel - Amsterdam - Marilyn

Robert and Nat's place is great. Very well located (I truly love this neighborhood - contemporary buildings on the JAVA artificial island) and very close to the centre. Robert and Nat are nice and helpful. They enjoy a little chat and keep your privacy. The Marilyn room is creative; a mix of old and new furniture in a comfortable new apartment. Public transports are around the corner (bus, tram) but we never used them. This place is a breath of fresh air from the city hassle.

The ART Hotel was easily accessible from Centraal Station (Tip: the 42 bus is located on the eastern side of the station - to the left when you exit towards the city. You can purchase a 1hr transit pass on the bus), and Robert was very helpful in helping me find the place over the phone when I had a little trouble. The room was very spacious and filled with awesome furnishings and paintings. Most importantly for me, the bed was incredibly comfortable and I had no trouble at all dozing off. I'd definitely book again on my next trip. Though I didn't get to try Robert's pancakes as my stay didn't coincide with a weekend, I had some excellent ones at The Pancake Bakery a block north from the Anne Frank House.

The place was very peaceful and pretty! Robert and Nat were both quite nice. Loved the little island...close to the city but still felt like getting away.

Great location, nice host, clean rooms. However, only the wrong room was available: not the booked and paid Marilyn room, but the much smaller Marlene room. I did not care a lot about this, as I was there for a conferences and used the room only to sleep.

Even though I myself couldn't go on the trip my friend was able to go and he said he a great time! Robert was very helpful via email with making the necessary adjustments to my last minute emergency. I will gladly book with him again, but next time I'll use the room! Lol

Nice unit, great host, decent location. The location is a bit far from the city center, which we enjoyed because we were looking for a quieter area to spend the last few days of our trip. Renting a bike from Star Bikes (behind Centraal Station) was one of the best decisions we made during our stay at Robert's B&B Two things to note: 1) the door to the B&B units do not have a lock; 2) the shower/bathroom are shared. With two people during peak season (~$149/night), you could probably find a better value somewhere else. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay here.

We had a great time! Robert and Nat are very nice and helpful. The location is very central. Rooms very large and brilliant breakfast.

It was great to stay over at the Art Hotel again during the cold weather spell that hit Europe recently. The location is nice and away from the center if you want somewhere more residential.

A wonderful experience overall! My hosts Robert and Nat were friendly, inviting and courteous. I moved to Amsterdam without a place to stay and they gave me lots of suggestions for where i could find permanent accommodation. Their apartment was beautifully designed, well maintained and and in a peaceful location. I would recommend to everyone!

Robert & his partner Nat were such gracious and welcoming hosts, and the Marlene room was a great abode away from the hustle of the city center. On my last day, they invited me to a Dutch dinner, where Rob made Hutspot/Stamppot with sausages, a simple, yummy meal made exquisite by the excellent company. Robert even accommodated my need for a desk by bringing one to the room, so I was able to work on my projects there.

This was our first time in Amsterdam and second experience with airbnb. Our stay at The Art Hotel was awesome. Excelent location. We can go to the Central Station walking. Robert is a great host and his breakfast on sunday was excelent. His apartment is realy special with his art work. Despite the shared bathroom, We would definitively stay there the next time in Amsterdam. Highly recomended.

Robert & Nat are amazing hosts. I'm in love with them. Loved the fact that "Marlene" was the closest to the entrance door and to the kitchen. Everything was super clean and welcoming. The bed is super comfortable. It is a lovely area and you can go anywhere with bus 42 and tram 10, which is a short distance walk with a beautiful view. If you decide taking a cab from central station it will cost you a little less then 9 euros. I felt very at home with them and miss them already.

Rob and Nat's place is really great for anyone staying in Amsterdam. The location is super interesting in the new modern area of Java Island. A very different vibe from the old 1600's Amsterdam. Easy to reach by Tram and Bus. The Marlene room was very nice and quiet and perfect for a single person. I highly recommend it.

Enjoyed my stay overall. Place is clean and stylish. Rob is a fantastic host. Do rent a bike for an enjoyable ride to the center.

I stayed at the ART Hotel at the very last minute and Rob was kind enough to accomodate me. It's located on Java island and is a 10-15 min walk from the train station or a 5 min ride from the bus that stops right in front of Centraal station. The bus drops you off less than a block from his place. His neighborhood is quiet and safe and is surrounded by water. I ran every morning around the island which has a paved road. There are only a few places to eat on the island but the italian restaurant around the corner served excellent food and was very Italian. Southern family I think. One more important detail is that a bicycle rental place is about 8 minute walk away below the hotel Movenpick. This is absolutely key to having a good time exploring Amsterdam. As for Rob himself he's a great host: very courteous and soft spoken gentleman. His apartment is playful, fun, comfortable and very clean. The Internet was blazing fast.

Robert is a great host and an interesting person with a wealth of knowledge about Amsterdam.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying wth Robert in Sept 2009. He was a great host and immediatly made us feel right at home. The room was awesome with a cute little balcony overlooking a canal. Everything was clean and we even got breakfast! Robert also had many helpful recommendations for things to do and places to see while we were in Amsterdam. I would absoulty recommend Robert for anyone heading to Amsterdam. Our trip was perfect, the apartment was perfect and Robert was a pefect host. Thanks Robert. I hope to see you again very soon!!!

Robert has a very lovely art style apartment in Amsterdam, tucked nicely away from the crowded and busy streets. A very lovely view of boats coming into the port. The room is spacious and cosy and very well-decorated.
