The space

A fresh renovated apartment, with contemporary colors (white-grey-green- aquamarine and a taste of red) and some old white wood, is located on the first floor of a building in a residential quarter, at metro A Furio Camillo. In the quarter there are green areas, restaurants, pizzerias, coffee bars and bistros, ice-cream parlors, supermarkets and fresh market around the corner, and lots of "best places" chosen by modern romans. By metro in few minutes you can reach all the "locations" in the center (San Giovanni, Holy Stairs, Colosseum, Barberini, Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Vatican City etc.). Inside the apartment, you find a fully furnished kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom with a bed for two persons that can become a sofa. You find Bed linen and towels. You can use phone, iron and iron table, coffee machine, fridge, cooking staff and everything provided. It's very easy to use the public transport system, just 2 steps from the house, as you can see in the photos. There is a marketplace where you can find typical products, fresh vegetables and fruit (also a couple of biologic shops). Very close by there's Villa Lazzaroni, a public park where you can take a walk in the green! A few steps further there is Caffarella and Parco dell'Appia Antica from which you can reach ancient relics, ancient street and roman sites like Christian Catacombs.

Guest access

You have access to wi-fi and all the things you find in a practical although minimal apartment to allow you a little but free space to live.

Interaction with guests

I am present directly or by phone. By mail I am also always reachable, to suggest or support You in your staying in Rome. I have also a good friend of mine available, when I am not.

The neighborhood

Lovely neighborhood, very helpful.
The quarter is a residential one, but also a famous and frequented commercial area with shops on the main street Appia. A new shopping place is Happio, just in front of the house (where you can find Decathlon, and other Brands). Like many other roman quarters, it was a popular one (as Trastevere, Monti, Campo de' Fiori) therefore it has its own good Fresh Market! A good opportunity for people who love nature is to take a walk in the green areas very close by!

Getting around

The quarter offers many bars and restaurants, two big parks, fresh market, shops and easy transport to all zones. See the map of the wishes to take a walk in the quarter I prepared for you! You may try all these delicatessen like Pizza slices (take away) at "Magna Pizza" via Appia 396,
nice atmosphere at Restaurant-bistrot "Mithos", taverna dell’Allegria, Piazza Scipione Ammirato 7; good quality/price at "Trattoria Ada e Mario", Circonvallazione Appia 81 (on friday Fish, every day good Pasta, green Side dishes, Cakes). In Spring and Summer a must is the Ice-cream at "Gelateria Petrini", Piazza dell'Alberone 16/a; and always "Pompi" (its Tiramisu cake is very renown!), via Albalonga 7b. There is the good Pub (very good tapas are served) "Hopificio" in via Cesare Baronio 2 many young people outside the place and no sign to recognize it and the restaurant "Hosteria del Sole" under the apartment.
As Furio Camillo is a residential and commercial quarter (but also a green area and ancient ruins if you explore the area through the park, after all), to see the Ancient and most Famous Rome you need to go to the center that is really close by metro A! The roman sites inside the Parks suggested to be visited during the daylight, when you can dive into both the Ancient Appia Archeological Park and the natural Park of Caffarella (on Sunday morning, seasonal excursions are organized) through which you can reach San Callisto, San Sebastiano, Santa Domitilla and others ancient sites. If you like walking you can reach also other sites on foot, either going from Appia street to Basilica S. John in Lateran and Holy stairs and to Colosseum, Caracalla's thermal baths (not active!), or via dei Fori Imperiali, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, piazza del Popolo, Spanish steps, Vatican city (but these last places are reachable very fast by metro A). Also San Lorenzo (University area) or Pigneto quarter are reachable either on foot or by public transport. Meanwhile walking on Appia street, you can take a look to the boutiques of the area, trying a good cake or a piece of pizza!
The best way to go to the Center is by Metro A Furio Camillo, just under the apartment. You reach in few minutes the center (direction Battistini): Barberini square and Trevi Fountain (10 min), Spanish steps (15 min) Popolo square, Vatican city- S. Peter Church (20 min) but also University Tor Vergata and Ciampino airport (direction Anagnina). You go to Colosseum, Monti quarter, University city (La Sapienza, Roma2) taking metro B in Termini station or tram 3 in San Giovanni.
Buses go day and night to Colosseum, San Giovanni, Piazza Venezia, Pantheon, Appia Antica.
Train station Tuscolana (10 min distance from the apartment) connects fast and easily to Airport Fiumicino, Tiburtina station, Trastevere station, Ostiense station.
You can buy tickets for 1.5 euro for metro-bus-train, for long staying you can buy a pass for one day, three days, a week or a month. This option is the best and it is absolutely suggested for staying of one week or more. You can buy the pass in tobacco shops, in some kiosks or at info-points like Termini station, or S. Peter metro A.
There is also a useful taxi Parking on Appia street, few meters from the apartment, where you can find a taxi parked with the driver.

Other things to note

If you are on a long staying, there are supermarkets, stores, laundries, parkings, gyms, cinemas, pizzerias, good shops, boutique etc., all you need in Everyday life and in a Special Italian period of life.

Micaela's apartment was really great! The area was so easily accessible by metro and it was quick to connect to Termini and other places in Rome. The apartment was exactly as pictured- clean, cozy and welcoming! Upon our arrival, there was even a bottle of wine and some fruit left out for us :) Much appreciated! Although I did not get a chance to meet Micaela, she was tremendously helpful in offering recommendations for places to visit in the area. We corresponded throughout my stay and she always responded very quickly. I highly recommend this apartment for your next stay in Rome!

We had a pleasant stay at the IF-apartment. Micaela was a very good host - she is very, very helpful and kind. Even though we arrived very late in the evening she was waiting for us at the apartment and had even brought us wine, fruits etc. The apartment is nice and has everything you need for a stay in Rome.

We were in Roma for 10 days my husband and I and I think we've chosen the right appartment. The place was refreshing and quiet and, most important nearby the metro station so to visit it was easy. The welcoming was great also. We didn't met Micaela but her friend Claudio who was warm and helpful. What I am very thankfull is that we immediately felt at home in this appartment. The area is great if you are a shopping person you can find good things with the best price. There is a very good restaurant right next the building and people are nice. I recommend the place for a couple and for those who looking for a quiet and fresh place.

Roma, Ravenna
Artist (painting, installations).
I love Art, Travel, Happyness. I love hosting people travelling and visiting my city! In vacation, during this time away from the usual home it happens to wonder! mind and heart are open!

I am curious about places, culture, art and about food I like trying tipical plates.
In Rome I wouldn't miss the tipical "tonnarelli cacio e pepe" (pasta with cheese and pepper) "matriciana" (pasta with tomato sauce, bacon, onion, hot pepper) "carciofi alla romana" (artichoke)!!!
