Enjoy the best northern New Mexico has to offer. From time to time we offer our large and lovely solar adobe home set on 21 acres in the Santa Cruz River Valley 23 miles north of Santa Fe. You get skiing (if it's winter) at three close-by ski areas, badland and river hikes right out the door, a visit with our horses and amazing mountain vistas right up the street. You also get easy proximity to the one-of-a-kind cultural and recreational amenities of Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Espanola and Taos.
The large country kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances and utensils for you to prepare and enjoy your meals, and there are two indoor eating areas as well as three outdoor areas, weather permitting. The 3 bedrooms and den accommodate 7-8 people in two double beds and three twins. There are several common areas in the house and outside, depending on the time of year. We are long-time residents of the area and are happy to give you tips for enjoying your stay. Talk to us about special food or travel arrangements or any other requests and we will be glad to work with you. Price listed is for a maximum of 8 people, please inquire about additional guests or any other needs. A per-person cleaning fee will be added to the total. Please view our listing "Charming Country Adobe" for guest recommendations or if you are interested in a room rate.
We appreciate all of our guests' comments but must clarify some details as mentioned in Donna's recent review. Our listing indicates "shared bathrooms" in the very first line. This is our home, so yes, there are some personal items in the downstairs room and throught the house (though not in the upstairs room), but it still has a completely empty dresser and generous hanging space in the closet for guest clothing, and a completely clear desk surface for guest use. The room in question (with the loft bed and loveseat below) has two large windows with light filtering duette top-down/bottom-up shades, one ceiling fixture, one desk lamp, one reading lamp in the loft and one wall sconce below for the love seat. It was cloudy during Donna's visit (not typical for our area) so perhaps that contributed to her perception. We have happily hosted two people in this room with a mattress on the floor and we always let guests know about the space consideration if they choose this option. We live on 21 riverfront acres that we irrigate through a combination of drip irrigation for the smaller plots and traditional flood irrigation via a historic acequia system that we would be happy to explain and/or demonstrate to anyone who inquires. Right now we have an organic dairy herd on the land (in addition to our sweet horse Palo) and from time to time we host a seasonal organic grower. Our current big project involves removing the development rights from the irrigated acreage and placing the land into an agricultural easement to ensure that it will be farmed into the future. I assure you that our place is a very special one indeed (please see our reviews below) and that we go to great lengths to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of our guests. Please feel free to discuss any of your needs or concerns with us prior to making your reservation or at any time during your stay. Thanks so much, Julie.
You and Julie And Scott
