A garden studio in a quiet neighborhood centered in all the best that Austin has to offer!

The space

If you stay here, you can walk everywhere or ride a bike instead...

This vacation studio, in the garden behind our home, is part of an older, quiet neighborhood, yet it's right in the middle of all the action! You will be within a few blocks of many of Austin's best restaurants, cafes, film, theater, music venues, and the crown jewel parks of Austin: Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, Zilker Park, Barton Creek Green Belt and Barton Springs Pool.
See our AirBNB Guidebook for details.

Perfectly located for both the ACL Music Festival and SXSW. The Zilker neighborhood is attractive, safe, walk-able and classic Austin.

The 10' x 20' room has a queen size bed (sleeps 2) + a very large L-shaped couch (not a sleeper-sofa), where another person or 2 kids can sleep in a pinch.

There are many nearby restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk as well as a small grocery store. There is a small refrigerator, coffee and tea makers, microwave.

You have your own patio and garden, for relaxing. There is also an outdoor ping-pong table, under a grove of pear trees. The studio has high-speed internet access.

We are a small family, living in the front house, and are great fans of vacationing in Austin! We can provide maps, excellent tips for music, feasting, biking, swimming, and generally enjoying Austin.

Walking or biking, you will quickly get to all the best that central Austin has to offer.

Guest access

Guests have access to the back yard, which includes an outside sitting area under a large Oak tree as well as access to our ping-pong garden which is along the path to the studio. Parking is available at the curb in front of our home.

Interaction with guests

We are available during your stay to help with any questions and we love to share tips about favorite Austin destinations!

Other things to note

The studio is one room + bath. The room is furnished with large sectional sofa, queen size bed and a small sitting area along windows to write/work.
The sofa does not have a pull-out bed.

Food preparation is limited: there is no stove - there is a medium-size refrigerator and a few small appliances.

We are avid readers and keep a collection of books in this room which you are welcome to browse.

The other half of the building has a separate, small work-space (with its own entry) which the owners occasionally use during the day, during normal working hours.

Since we also use this studio as our guest quarters for family and friends, we only reserve 8 weeks in advance. We do make exceptions for major festivals and events such as SXSW, ACL.

Such a great place for a stay in Austin. We walked to most restaurants and Barton Springs. Although, do be prepared to climb a hill on the way home! The space holds everything you would need for the weekend and has obviously been well thought through. Firm mattress, comfy pillows, plenty of dishes, outlets galore etc.

Excellent location, superb accommodation! Margo has thought of everything a traveler would need and more. Cute, modern guest house with comfortable mattress and pillows. LOVED the pillows! Recommendations on things to do and restaurants are top notch as well. Everything about the stay and the house was just simply an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend Margo's place - 5 stars!!!

We loved the place! Really charming, private and comfortable. The studio has everything you need to relax. Super comfortable bed and pillow (important!), cozy couch, fridge, movies and books etc.. It`s the type of place you are happy to come back to after a day of visiting. In the morning, we had our breakfast outside. Nice garden and space. We spent 6 days here and visiting Austin. This neighbourhood was our favoirte. Best location. Short walk from springs, hikes, restaurants, food trucks, and live music. The place is also equipped with alot of nice details (umbrellas, tea, coffee, snacks, organic milk, beach towels etc...). Thanks for a wonderful experience!

It a nice small studio in a quiet neighborhood with parking on the street. We appreciated the mini fridge as it came in handy. However, we notided the bed linens and towels smelled moldy. That was quite a disappointment. Overall, for the price and if you can overlook this negative it a good deal.

Response from Margo:
I am so sorry Judy! We are on vacation and I purchased new linens for our cleaner before we left. I wonder if the old ones got mixed in by mistake. I will check.

Great location and a short walk to Zilker Park and the green belt nature path, the awesome natural spring fed Barton Springs swimming pool, and plenty of great restaurants. We had a fun visit and would stay here again.

We had a great stay at Margo's place in Austin. Communication and check-in were easy, and the studio was perfect. Such a cute, functional space! The location was great too, with an easy walk to bars and restaurants on Lamar Blvd, and a bit farther walk to South Congress Ave for shops and more restaurants. The location is also really conveniently located for Zilker Park and the Barton Springs Pool. We also enjoyed the great bike share program in Austin, and there is a bike station a short walk away from Margo's place as well.

We are from Austin, TX and both my husband and I teach at the University of Texas. He is also a designer of modern homes and I have a strategy firm that works on social impact issues.

We especially enjoy being able to walk and bike to many of central Austin's parks, restaurants and music venues.
