Cozy Sanctuary Close to City Center

Lisa is a superhost for good reason. Not only was she there to greet us when we arrived, but the room was chalk-full of amenities for travelers, including one of our favorite items: a local guide of her own creation to some of the best places in Halifax. Lisa was incredibly friendly and helpful, suggesting places for us to see and eat during our one night in town. She was immediately able to interpret our needs since she was extremely well-traveled herself, and familiar with the culture we were coming from and that which we were seeking in Halifax. The beds were adequately comfortable, and the fact that the room has it's own, private bathroom was certainly very convenient. The ONLY thing I would caution a visitor is that the house smelled VERY FAINTLY of smoke as at least one of the people living there is a smoker or has smoked in the past. Even so, I consider myself very sensitive to smoke and had no problem staying there.

Lisa and Walter were perfect hosts. Very interesting and friendly people to talk with. Breakfast every morning and a great location in the north end of Halilfax. Hydrostone square on Young St contained a number of interesting shops, restaurants and park located about a 5 minute walk from the house. It was a15-20 minute walk to downtown. i enjoyed my stay very much!!

Great host, very welcoming, and will make you feel like home! Everything is well prepared, such as shower shampoo, tooth brush, towels, coffee machine, over-the-counter medications, moisturizers etc. Sadly host will be leaving for another province. All the best!

Lisa was a SUPER host! She was really helpful without being intrusive at all... flexible, friendly, and just generally very cool. Gave us some great recommendations of places to check out. We walked downtown every day (about 25 minutes), and a cab back was only about 10$. The breakfast was generous and the room was clean, comfy, and quiet. We had everything we needed in the room, too. Can't recommend Lisa's place enough!

Lisa was a very pleasant host and welcomed us with a smile even tough we arrived around midnight. Breakfast was healthy and a good start for the day. We appreciated the information she could provide for exploring Halifax and helped us out with stuff we forgot at home.

Lisa was an excellent host for our stay in halifax. Her house was close to the city and a comfy bed to come back to each night, there was plenty of info on things to get up to around town supplied in the room, and her homemade jams are amazing!!! Chris and laurz

Wonderful, wonderful host. Provided us with delicious muffins, tons of useful advice about Halifax (and sought out good restaurants for us to try), gave us an incredibly comfy bed + extra mattress with all the amenities we would want, was super helpful in general and a lovely person to talk to. Very Pleasant oasis..Easy as pie to find.. along Gottegen ,pass Stadacona turn (right) on Russell Street.. A real working harbour view.. Lisa and Walter offer a pleasant room with Bathroom/shower attached. There is a dining table ready with a variety of cereals and tea or coffee, And by serendipity, Montreal bagels with an assortment of Jams and peanut butters to fuel your day.. Lisa may be curled up on the couch in the evening with a fire on.. An agreeable host indeed..Taking cues from her guests as to the level of conversation they were comfortable with.. I had an excellent stay - Lisa was a super warm host and gave me a grand tour when I arrived, had thoughtfully laid out a grab-and-go breakfast knowing that I would be heading out early to the Farmers' Market with my fabulous spray-free wild blueberries. Great place to stay in Halifax!
