  • The bird's nest is a charming room in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. The studio is in pristine conditions and very clean. The manager, Matthias, was very prompt in answering all our enquiries and helpful in accommodating our needs for our arrival and departure schedules. Overall, I think it's the perfect location if you have a car - if you depend on public transportation you should be aware of the fact that the bus runs every 20 (weekdays) to 40 (sundays) minutes, and that the ride into town (through some pretty neighborhoods) takes 20 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic and the destination.

  • Originally my husband and I had requested an alternate place and Charlotte had suggested the Bird's Nest would fit our needs better, and it was a lower price! Thank you so much. The Bird's Nest was perfect for us. The location is great; near numerous tasty restaurants, bus stops, coffee and stores. The neighborhood was very nice and safe; we walked and took the bus everywhere we went.

  • Matthias was our contact for The Bird's Nest and was very, very helpful! He made a special trip over to check the TV for me. We truly appreciated the fresh fruit, teas, etc. which were waiting for us. The apartment is adorable, comfortable, and so light - skylights in each room - that I seldom had to use the electric lights! Having a washer/dryer meant that we didn't have to pack as many clothes. I am a very outdoor person and the little deck was great to sit on. The apartment is surprisingly quiet - only the faint sounds of the piano drift in- which was very pleasant! Internet was good, bed comfy, but the best thing is the neighborhood. We enjoyed the local restaurants within walking distance. AND while my husband had the car at his work, I was able to walk to stores and took a bus into Georgetown- and the bus stop is right on the corner. It was all of the convenience with safety, and lots to do! Thanks again to Matthias - wish I could have heard more piano. P.S. we usually stay at a friend's apt at the Watergate and I liked this much better - but don't tell my friend!

  • Charlotte and Matthias were excellent hosts! They were incredible accommodating and kept me up to date on everything (including weather advisories - definitely appreciated)! They're place makes it easy to get to central DC, while remaining separated from the busier parts of the city. Also, supermarket and food is close and convenient. Overall I would recommend the space and would gladly stay there again.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bird's Nest - a cozy apartment in a quaint neighborhood. Very convenient to buses, which enabled us to get all over town to where we needed to go. Matthias gave us a personal tour and could not be more helpful, and Charlotte is a delightful host. Our only complaint is that a week is way too short to take in all the wonderful experiences in Washington D.C. We will have to come back for at least two more weeks! Sandra

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Bird's Nest. The apartment is very clean, and it is comfortably furnished. The neighborhood is very pleasant; we walked along the canal after sight-seeing, there are a couple of nice places to eat within walking distance, and it is a very short drive or bus ride to Georgetown. We had a car, but we actually took the bus into the city several times. It's an easy and pleasant ride. Thanks to Matthias for welcoming us; my daughter was thrilled to find a balloon and some treats for her birthday! A very nice touch. We will definitely stay there again for our next visit.

  • We had a great time at the Bird's Nest. Very clean, nice bathroom, and the washer/dryer were a big plus. There's a foldout euro-style couch (way better than a sleeper sofa) and an alcove with a single bed that our daughter loved because she could close some folding doors and have a little privacy. The apartment is very quiet and is on a busline convenient for access to downtown DC. Lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance. We didn't use our car once while we were there. Highly recommended.

  • The Bird's Nest was a great place to rest after a day of sightseeing. My nine-year-old loved having her own space and we loved relaxing on the deck. I couldn't recommend it enough.

  • We absolutely loved The Bird's Nest. It had everything that we needed. I felt like I was staying at a friend's house, but they weren't there. I loved having a parking place and a washer and dryer. The neighborhood was very nice and safe. I highly recommend The Bird's Nest. Charlotte was very professional and Matthias was very helpful. Our first stay in DC was great! I only wish that we had more time. Thank you!

  • We enjoyed a wonderful visit in DC made even more relaxing and comfortable by the wonderful accomodations at the Bird's Nest. We enjoyed the privacy, beautiful decor, the immaculately clean apartment as well as the quiet and convenient location. Mattias was a wonderful and caring host checking to make sure all our needs were met and questions answered. He was a wonderful source of information for DC and the local area as well. The apartment was even closer to the National Mall and the Potomac waterfront than we knew and the boys and I were able to ride our bikes there as well as along the Potomac River which was an absolute plus as we love the outdoors. Kayaks and canoes were available for rent in the immediate area as well. Thank you Charlotte and Mattias for making our trip to DC feel safe and welcoming. We wish you all the very best!

I have been to 48 of our states and close to 50 countries so if you have a destination in mind I'll have something to tell you about it. We are quite knowledgeable on how best to experience the marvelous opportunities for cultural enrichment that make Washington unique amoung US cities. Meeting and interacting with our diverse guests is what attracted me to short-term rentals in the first place. I enjoyed it so much that I have created a business managing short-term rentals of Washington properties, LUXbnb.
