Large

Private, furnished guest room of my Caribbean art-filled house in the heart of the great FAUBOURG MARIGNY neighborhood, an 8-block walk from the French Quarter and 5 blocks from the fabulous Frenchmen Street music mecca. The guest room has a comfortable full-size sleeper sofa. There are also a closet, dresser, and shelves. (Washer and dryer are available for a $5 additional daily charge for each day you wish to use them.) The guest room is immediately adjacent to the kitchen, where you will have use of the refrigerator and microwave (sorry, no stove/oven). Its immediately adjoining bathroom is shared only with owner (myself). And there is a door leading directly out to the back deck, where you may relax in good weather. In addition, guests are welcome to visit the front gallery/living room space exhibiting my large collection of original West Indian paintings. COST OF THE ROOM: $66 nightly for one person, $79 nightly for two people. PLEASE NOTE that this AVERAGE-SIZED, 12-foot-square room works best for 1 person, especially for stays of more than a night or two, but compatible couples will be considered and many have enjoyed staying here. PLEASE NOTE that my home is a 100-plus-year-old house and that it is therefore full of small quirks and eccentricities that most guests will find charming or amusing but that those who are accustomed to staying only in brand-new, "antiseptic" type chain or luxury accommodations may not want to be flexible about. If you are such a traveler, therefore, I would recommend booking elsewhere ... just be prepared to pay a whole lot more. :-) Due to my artworks, I CANNOT ACCEPT PETS. Also, please be aware that during certain times of the year I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT 1-NIGHT RESERVATIONS ON WEEKENDS. Special event rates apply for Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, etc.; inquire about future "event" bookings. Thanks!

  • david is quite the host, and my experience staying in his home and in the marigny was one of the highlights of a brief trip to nola. where the accommodation lacks in upkeep, it's more than made up by character, history, and the opportunity to share, if only for a brief period, a place that's uniquely new orleans.

  • David is a delight!!! We had nothing but good times. A great place to stay (or just keep your things while you're out all night and all day) with nearly every square inch of wall space covered with paintings. Very good host, can point you in the right direction and give you a brief history lesson. I saw some other reviews talking smack about the fold out bed... I slept like a rock, very comfortable surroundings. ALL GOOD THINGS!

  • David is extremely kind and helpful. And, though I wish I'd had more time to hear about his fascinating experiences in the Carabean, I was able to garner an echo of them from his marvelous, colorful walls-full of art. We were on foot and unsure of our next move, so David's thoughtfulness regarding our inability to remove our bags immediately upon leaving was MUCH appreciated.

  • David's been the best host, as soon as I got there he took me outside to help me orientate myself, showed me on maps the best places, where to go to eat and what's worthy seeing! House is just as beautiful as you can see from the pics, literally covered in art (and being apassionate with photograph I really appreciated every corner of it), the room had space to store all my stuff, a heater, and a very confortable sofa bed and couldn't be quieter, had the first great sleep in weeks! Location is just great, walk to the French quarter in 5 mins and even less for the great Frenchman St, (dont understand why people spend time in the very turistic and I guess over priced Bourbon st..). Summarising, my experience was great with both the house and David, if I ever come back to visit New Orleans (and Im sure I will) I know already where Im going to stay.

  • We stayed with David during a two week long road trip across the US. We absolutely adored the eccentricities of New Orleans! David' s house is antique and charming. The room we stayed in was comfortable for a couple. The sofabed was fairly comfortable and David provided us with a heater, in case it got cold, which it didn't. It was a brisk walk to both Frenchman street and the French quarter. We will def be back to NO! Thanks for being such a welcoming host David!

  • David was a great host... Friendly but non intrusive. He gave me a quick mental tour of the neighborhood and helped situate me. The house is filled with beautiful carribean art, a great, hip place. A little dusty and not for people with allergies.

  • David's home is full of beautiful art--it's a really neat opportunity. He was really friendly and suggested some places to go. This is a great way to see New Orleans. Thanks!

  • Great stay in an amazing location. David was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

  • Great location in a great city. I had a wonderful time.

David was very nice. He was straightforward about any plans he had to have guests over so I could make plans accordingly. The pullout bed isn't the most comfortable, but when the temperatures dropped David was quick to supply a space heater.
