We have a beautiful and spacious fourth-floor 2-bedroom condo in Harlem, one room in which we rent out on a regular basis to responsible, mature adults who'd like a gorgeous place to stay while visiting Manhattan but think that paying $350 a night for a shoddy hotel is insane. [NOTE: If the listed nightly rate is more than $100, you will either have the apt. to yourself or you will occupy the large master bedroom. The higher rate means that we'll be out of town during your stay.]

We're non-discriminating kind of people - we don't care what you look like - but we do expect you to be polite, clean and easygoing. We'd also prefer it if you didn't steal our stuff.

One thing you should know - we're a young, professional gay couple (both 30 years old). Not that that has any bearing on your stay with us, but we'd hate to turn someone away for being a bigot. If you're open-minded enough to accept that gays, in fact, do exist (and faaaaa-bulously!), then get in touch.

Also, we have two little dogs named Jaxon and Luxe. They're both quiet, super fun and lovable - and they'll expect you to treat them the same.

Your stay includes an air-conditioned/heated private room; fresh (and super soft) Ralph Lauren towels; access to our in-unit washer/dryer (FREE); flat-screen LCD/LED TVs (plus TiVo - we don't want you to miss your shows); board games and DVDs; FREE Wi-Fi; all the cereal you can eat (until we run out); in-room mini-fridge; and in-room coffee/tea service. The bed is a full-size futon/mattress hybrid; during the day it's a couch (we never put it up - we've forgotten how it works now) and at night it converts into the comfy bed you see in the pictures. Free street parking. Oh, and booze is on the house; we like to relax with alcohol. (Please drink responsibly and don't drink and drive. If we had a legal dept., they would totally tell us to tell you that.)

Sold yet? OK, we'll keep going.

We have a Wii that you can play, too. But we'll warn you - you might get schooled in Mario Kart and Trivial Pursuit. Seriously - we're probably gonna mop the floor with you.

Our condo is only two blocks away from the 2/3 express subway trains. We're within walking distance to Yankee Stadium and Columbia University, and you can be in Times Square in 15 minutes by subway. The apartment is easy to get to by subway from Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. A cab ride from LaGuardia is relatively inexpensive (about $20), but the bus is even cheaper ($2.50).

There's a supermarket just down the street, along with bodegas for other convenience items on each corner. There's a McDonald's and late-night junkfood spots, like IHOP and Popeye's nearby. Just around the corner is an excellent French bistro with delicious food and can't-be-beat happy hours specials like $4 glasses of house wines and craft beers, nightly until 8 p.m. There are several health food, vegetarian/vegan establishments a stone's throw away. Literally. I once threw a stone to prove it.

P.S. We will be home during your stay. This will be a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom with lockable doors), but a fun, inexpensive one nonetheless. We've already met some pretty fantastic people from all over the world, so the bar is high; don't bring it down. Oh, and there are three flights of stairs to our apt. - with no elevator. But that's all right; you can do it!

BRAND NEW - SEE NYC LIKE YOU NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!

My husband is a licensed helicopter pilot who is now offering private tours of Manhattan.

Details:

The 1.5 hour flight can accommodate one passenger at a time, which includes start-up and shut down of the aircraft and an aerial tour of New York City. Transportation to and from the airport will be provided at no additional cost. Total trip time will be approximately 3.5 hours - the airport is a 35- to 45-minute drive outside the city. Fee is $200 per person flat rate - the most affordable price with the most flying time that you'll find in all of Manhattan, guaranteed! Cash is required prior to the flight, but a full refund will be given if the session is cancelled for reasons due to inclement weather, aircraft maintenance, or pilot's discretion. All flights are subject to weather and maintenance issues (safety first, folks), but the pilot will do his best to reschedule your flight if your length of stay permits.

Passengers must book flights one to two weeks in advance. You may book prior to your arrival in NYC to increase your chances of scheduling a session.

Flight Attractions Include:

Tappan Zee Bridge
Hudson River
George Washington Bridge
New Jersey Shoreline
Intrepid Museum
Ellis Island
Statue of Liberty
Governor’s Island
Brooklyn Bridge
Manhattan Bridge
Roosevelt Island
Central Park or Harlem River Crossing - includes Yankee Stadium (both optional and not guaranteed; this is at the discretion of Air Traffic Control)
Empire State Building, Ground Zero and Downtown Manhattan (will be visible but not an overhead view)

Comparable Commercial Rates (the other guys!):

Liberty & Ellis Island Tour – 12 to 15 minutes - $169 per person
Central Park Tour – 17 to 19 minutes - $239 per person
Grand Tour – 20 to 25 minutes - $325 per person

Why pay MUCH more for WAY less? Book a once-in-a-lifetime helicopter excursion and experience New York City like never before, today!

  • Even though I didn't have the opportunity to spend much time with Mikey and Earl, I have nothing but great things to say about them. Mikey's directions to arrive to his place were extremely easy to follow and very helpful. He was also very kind explaining how to get around the city, and even had my bed ready upon my arrival. Their location is conveniently located and the subway station is literaly steps away from their house. Look forward to seeing you on my next trip to the big apple.

  • Mikey and Earl are lovely hosts, very welcoming and friendly and willing to help out with local tips and directions :) The dogs are adorable and we will be missing them sorely!! The room is very nice, good size, has a great TV, mini fridge, fan etc, everything you need! The subway is literally a few minutes away, very handy location!

  • Mikey's place was perfect for our trip to the big apple! He was extremely accommodating with it being last minute! We arrived early, his current guests were still there but we were able to leave our bags to be able to go out and explore the city. He had these wonderful fresh baked cookies for us which were amazing! We were gone most of the time as we were trying to get alot of the sightseeing done in the four days we had, but in passing he was so kind, and friendly. I would recommend anyone to stay here as i would if i were to return to NYC! Thanks so much Mikey!

Well, the place was so cool that I would like it to be my own apartment, seriously. Our room was small but really comfortable and well-decorated–and we even had our own coffe-machine, like in a real hotel. Mikey and Earl were nice, helpful and hospitable, and their pet dogs were so funny and friendly that I would wiss them. As for location—yes, It’s Harlem, but bus and metro stations are in 2 min on foot and at least you will not be bothered by the noise of the City while you’re sleeping. And you will have a good chance to receive “Far Far Away” badge on Foursquare :) To sum up, I would strongly recommend this place for your stay in NYC.

  • Gracious hosts and a lovely apartment. Thank you!

  • Mikey was a great host and the apartment is wonderful and comfortable. The dogs are so cute and amazing! Very easy and convenient to the 2/3 trains to get anywhere else in the city.

  • Great place, the house is super nice and organized. The guys are super easy going and discrete.

  • Staying with Mikey and Earl was better than a hotel! They were extremely welcoming and made us feel right at home from day one. The room allowed us to be fully self contained and was equipped with everything we needed, including sme brouchures about NYC and some places to go with reviews from Mikey himself! The place was super clean and very very comfortable. Mikey and Early are a great pair and alot of fun to chat with, although the first few days we weren;t around much we got to know them better later and enjoyed their company very much. Their place is definietely a must stay iuf you are travelling to NYC and I would reccommend it to anyone going there to book a few nights them without hesitating, you won't regret it! the apartment is also very coneveniently located, with the subway about a minute walk away and lots of great places to eat nearby. thanks heaps Mikey and Earl, we reeally enjoyed our stay and would defnitely look you up if we were to head to NYC again! xxx

  • My daughter and I stayed at Mikey and Earl's place for a week while we explored as much of Manhattan as possible. Mikey greeted us upon our arrival and was very kind, accommodating and helpful with advice right from the beginning and throughout our visit. This was our first time in NYC and we are very grateful to have experienced living in Harlem and using the subway to get around. It felt like we were staying with good friends and therefore the whole trip was much more pleasant, interesting and welcoming than any hotel. If we go back to NYC, we will be sure to stay with Mikey and Earl again!

  • This was my 2nd stay with Mikey and Earl. It was cold both weeks in New York during my visits, so the flannel sheets were a really nice touch.

  • About: We're a fun-loving couple who enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Our apartment is clean, modern and, dare we say it, pretty darn fantastic. Forget what you've heard about Harlem, too. Our neighborhood is full of diversity, friendly people, and it's safe. I'm a tiny man, and I've never had one problem here. There's are several parks nearby with excellent views of the George Washington Bridge, the Hudson River, the Harlem River, New Jersey and The Bronx. We love it here, and you will too!
