The space

We have paved roads all the way to out cement driveway. Our cabin is very private and overlooks the Nottley River and eleven mountain peaks on the other side of the river. No 4 wheel drive or chains are needed. There is a vacant lot to the left of our cabin and to the right is a house that is up for sale with no one living in it. The Nottley River as well as the Hiawassee River are stocked with trout each year by the state of North Carolina. Fishing is awesome however we do not have steps that go down to the river even though our property does go to the river.

Our cabin is very centrally located. We are located about 7 miles from Murphy, NC off highway 19/129 two miles from the flea market at the junction of 19/129 and 64/74, 15 miles from Blairsville, GA and about 30 miles from Blue Ridge, GA. In addition Cherokee, NC is only 60 miles away. A good day trip would be Clingman dome and Newfound Gap which are on the way to Gatlinburg, TN on highway 441 between Cherokee, NC and Gatlinburg, TN. It is a beautiful drive over top the mountains. Clingman dome is the highest point in the Smoky Mountains and Newfound Gap has awesome views. My wife likes going to Cherokee to gamble at Harrah’s Casino. On the way over to Cherokee you go through the Nantahala Gorge and Bryson City where they do a lot of river rafting and hiking in the summer. If you’re really interested in hiking you might also be interested in going to Amicalola State Park near Eli Jay, GA 25 miles west of Blue Ridge, GA. That is where the southern end of the Appalachian Trail starts. My wife and I have hiked there before. Also you might consider going to Field of Woods near Murphy. Pull it up on the internet and check it out.

Large deck has a panoramic view of the Nottley River and Mountain tops. The cabin is located on a paved dead end road that offers privacy, peace and quite. The property looks down on the Nottley River which is approximately 200 feet below at the edge of the property. In a large field across the river, deer, turkeys and geese can be seen from the deck in early morning and at sunset.

Family room has a stone fire place with gas logs. Large dining table and 2 bar stools for extra seating. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a large TV. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a roll-away-bed. Secure WIFI available at no additional cost.

The deck is on the front of the cabin facing the Nottley river with the view of a corn field and mountain peak in the back. It includes covered and uncovered areas. Uncovered area has a picnic table and a gas grill. Covered area has rocking chairs for your enjoyment of the views.

A six person hot tub sits on a covered Gazebo in front of the deck with a knock out view of the Nottley River with great sounds of the rapids on the river. In addition we have just excavated an area next to the hot tub and installed a 36 inch fit pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. There is nothing more captivating than sitting in an adirondack chair after you've taken a dip in the hot tub and enjoy eating hot dogs, marshmallows and drinking your favorite beverage around the fire pit which overlooks the Nottley river and the mountain peaks. It is an experience you don't want to miss.

Nearby attractions are Old Union golf course at Owen Glen 5 miles (see description of golf course below), Lake Nottley (boat rentals and ramps) 5 miles away. Lake Hiwassee - 12 miles, Anna Ruby Falls, Georgia, (3-4 hours), Appalachian trail (2-3 hours), Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia (3-4 hours), Atlanta, Georgia (1.5 hours), and Cherokee Indian Reservation including Harrah's Casino (1 hour). Several flea markets are also located within 5 miles of the cabin.

This cabin and the view of the Nottley River and the Mountain Peaks are a must see! Come a see for yourself.

We had a wonderful time at the Nottley River Retreat. This is a beautiful, warm and charming cabin with beautiful views. It feels very private and secluded and you have amazing views of fields and the river. We especially loved the hot tub and the wonderful porch where we ate most of our meals. The accomodations are very comfortable with a great bed in the master bedroom and a very comfortable couch with a huge tv. The kitchen has all the needs for cooking while on vacation. There is great wi-fi service as well. The location is great. There were lots of areas to explore and fun local culture. There are lots of hiking options nearby and even a little further out. There were great dining options not too far away (we would HIGHLY recommend the Copper Door in Hayesville, NC...amazing fine dining!) This was exactly the kind of getaway accomodations we were looking for and would definitely stay again in the future. We unequivocally would recommend the Notley Retreat!

The Nottley Retreat was absolutely gorgeous! Raymond (Butch) was very sweet and helpful. The cabin was well-equipped and well-maintained. The views were beautiful and the hot tub was incredibly relaxing. This really was a retreat. I thoroughly enjoyed coming 'home' every day after my class at the Folk School which is quite close by. It was incredibly comfortable and I would definitely stay here again.
