There is a queen bedroom with an ensuite, and a twin bedroom with a separate bathroom next door, as well as a sleeper couch in the lounge. In traditional Swakopmund style, there is a built in indoor Braai (barbecue/fireplace). We also provide great extras for guests such as filter coffee, condiments, ear buds, toiletries and handmade linen made by a community project, Iyaloo.
The apartment has a satellite TV in the lounge and master bedroom, a washing machine and dryer, dish washer, as well as all the usual kitchen appliances.
Please note some curtains and linen varies between photos due to updating them over time, and different sets.
My check-in manager and I pride ourselves on customer service, and we really enjoy having people tell us they loved staying at my place, especially while I can't (I'm abroad right now).
Please contact me and let me know how I can help with planning your trip to Swakopmund.
The apartment is accessed by a remote control gate to the building and garage. There is lift access to the second floor where you have key access to the apartment via the main door.
Note: The lift is not listed as part of the ammenities as it is sometimes under repair, we cannot guarantee it is working.
There is an alarm which also has remote activation.
Interaction with guests
I'm not living in Swakopmund, unfortunately, so I usually only have email or phone interaction with guests. Our apartment is managed by Christine and her team at Nel's Estates, a family business with great attention to detail and good customer service, however guests can still contact me directly at any time they need to, I will try to help as much as I can.
Neil's offices are easy to find on the main street into town, and their friendly agents will help with the check-in and show you around the apartment.
I love our location, it is 300m from the beach, and few minutes walk from the jetty, and the centre of town. We need not drive anywhere once we are there. Also I love the view, if I'm cooking, I can watch the family playing on the beach from the balcony, and simply wave when it's ready.
Swakopmund is a beautiful German style town, and it is very tourist focused so there are plenty of great restaurants, curio and craft shops, and many other things to do. There's also a great golf course where the springbok and oryx roam on the fairways.
Trips in the surrounding area I can recommend are scenic flights from Swakop airport over Sossusvlei, boat trips from Walvis bay, and Cape Cross seal colony.
Getting to Swakopmund from Windhoek is around 3.5 hours drive, a relatively good road, but best to complete the trip during the day, as at night there is more potential danger from animals on the road. If you make a trip of the trip, there's a nice cafe just outside Usakos on the Swakopmund side, to enjoy "traditional Namibian Brotchens" or toasted sandwiches.
If you're travelling from Windhoek, something not to be missed is the Desert Express - an overnight tourist train from Windhoek to Swakopmund.
There's also a slow train from Windhoek with TransNamib, I believe it also is an overnight trip.
There's air travel, either charter into Swakopmund airport, and scheduled airline flights into Walvis Bay and Windhoek. Hire cars are available at the airports.
There's not really public transport around Swakopmund that we are aware of, but taxis are cheap, only not metered, beware of being overcharged, ask locals what the prices are.
Other things to note
We have a lift in the building, but, it is often under maintenance, and not reliable
Also, I live in the UAE temporarily, and only see my apartment every year or two, but Nel's keep me updated. I miss it a lot and hope you will enjoy it immensely.
We do not have wi-fi but MTC has a pre-pay data plan now called Awey which is great for travellers at around 3US$ for 1GB and 100 minutes plus some sms's and data.

This is a rare photo of me relaxing in the dessert, with my daughter. I wish I could do it more...but hey, I'm working on it!
Please note, first, I (sadly) don't live in Namibia right now. The Namibian contact number is from my awesome check-in agent Christine. She or one of her team will meet you at our apartment on arrival, show you around, explain everything, and try to take care of your every need while you stay at our place.
When we stayed in Namibia (Windhoek) we loved going down to our holiday apartment on the coast, and we still go back whenever we are on holiday and fingers crossed will be back soon (July 2017).
Myself and my husband are both in aviation, and right now we are taking a break in the UAE for our career.
Being a pilot, I traveled a lot, and I reckon I've seen more hotels and accommodation places than I ever needed to. With all that experience I've tried to set up our apartment with everything I'd like to have when I'm on holiday, but without feeling like a hotel. I really hope you like it.
