The ART Hotel - Amsterdam - Sophia

I had an excellent 8 day stay with Robert & Nate. Actually I stayed in the Marilyn room and shared a lovely balcony with my hosts that overlooks a small canal. Great space. Fun interior styling. Robert is a very attentive host. It was fun to run into Robert and Nat while cycling around Java-eiland and the nearby area. Don't let the location deter you from staying here. Hire a bike--Robert has info--and you can be in the Centrum in 15 minutes. 25 minutes and you're cycling in the Vondel Park. The Eastern Doclands area has matured well as cutting edge modern architecture. Java-eiland has a lovely little village feel and your fiets ride to and from the city will be very interesting in its own right. The archicture creates interesting optical illusions, for example, that exaggerate the size of the cruise ships moured at the passenger ship terminal. If you like ships or sailors, you'll enjoy staying Java-eiland.

Had a fantastic stay at Robert &Nat's- They are very good host, very accommodating & helpful plus it's a beautiful room in a great location, all clean and cozy, love the bed and painting . I definitely recommend it.

Robert & Nat are great hosts. I had a lovely room in a nice location. It's a nice safe neighbourhood (absolutely perfect for my conference at Pakhuis de Zwijger). Robert was great with directions and information about Amsterdam, which made my short work trip seamless. Recommended.

The Hotel is very nice, clean and surrounded by a nice neighborhood. Nat and Robert are very nice and know every place in Amsterdam and gave us good information where to go, etc.

Robert and Nat are great housekeepers at the ART hotel. The room was lovely, comfortable and just what we needed. Staying out on the 'island' feels good to be away from central Amsterdam but it is very close to the city. They were both really welcoming and made us feel at home. They also gave us information on what to see, thanks Nat for the hat tip on the old brewery :) Thanks for our stay, it was great and your breakfast was very lovely too. Sarah and Jo x

This was our first time in Amsterdam and second experience with airbnb. Our stay at The Art Hotel was awesome. Excelent location. We can go to the Central Station walking. Robert is a great host and his breakfast on sunday was excelent. His apartment is realy special with his art work. Despite the shared bathroom, We would definitively stay there the next time in Amsterdam. Highly recomended.

We're an italian couple and we've stayed at the ART HOTEL 2 nights in september. Everything was perfect! Rob is so kind. The hotel is comfortable, friendly and clean. The position is excellent, it takes you just ten minutes by bus to be at the central station and then decide which part of the city go to visit. We're sure if we would return to amsterdam we'll stay at their place.

Thank you Rob & Nat for the super comfortable bed. i had a relaxing time and the sophia room was just perfect for me. it's a quiet place to recover and just 10 minutes away from the center. i also liked the canal right next to the window. i have worked a lot in the room using the free wifi and slept like rosebud. it's a very familiar place and highly recommended - all the best!

The Marlene's room was very clean, as discrebed. Robert was very easy going person, always trying to help you if you need. Java Island is very quiet and very close to Amsterdam center. I completely recommend this B&B if you want to have a quiet journey and not beeing too far from the center. Thanks Robert for everything. Thibaut

Robert & Nat are extremely nice hosts. Though we had a little problem with regarding to the check-in time, I still quite enjoyed my stay at there place. Strongly recommended to anyone who is visiting Amsterdam!

Rob and Nat are fantastic hosts and very kind persons. They are always there to give you advice around Amsterdam and also up for a little personal conversation. I felt like i found my home away from home during my stay. The appartment is very stylish, quiet and clean. The location is 15 min walk from the central station which is very nice. You can also take the bus or a cab from the central station which costs around 10€. I would come back for sure.

I'd like to thank Robert and Nat for sharing their beautiful apartment. The room was decorated tastefully and very cosy. It felt like I was at home after a day of venturing out in the city. Definitely not far from the city center and situated in a nice area. Easily accessible by foot and a quick 2 stops by bus. I would suggest to anybody to choose either room in their apartment with no doubt... Cheers x

Room better than advertised ... fantastic location, really friendly hosts. Rob and Nat are great guys who gave excellent information on the city and surrounds. I strongly recommend to anyone who is interested in Amsterdam and staying in a location only 10 minutes by bicycle from central Amsterdam!

I had a very comfortable stay with Robert and Nat. The apartment is lovely and an easy tram ride into the centre of Amsterdam. Robert made me feel very welcome, making tea for me on arrival and lending me his museum card (providing free entry to a number of museums and galleries). Breakfast was provided on Sunday - a nice touch. Thanks for a great stay! I would certainly recommend the Art Hotel.

Robert was very precise in all of his indications and all is exactly as described on the website. He was also very kind to arrange for parking as an anticipated special request and left breakfast set on Sunday already over breakfast time. All was very tidy and well taken care of and he was always precise with timings; all check in and check out processes ran very smoothly. A very interesting residential part of town, right next to the water and an island feeling mixed with a little Venice. Walkable distance to the center - on good weather. :) Was very interesting to see Amsterdam on ice! Thanks for hosting!

It was great to stay over at the Art Hotel again during the cold weather spell that hit Europe recently. The location is nice and away from the center if you want somewhere more residential.

Had a wonderful stay with Robert. The room and location were great, and Robert was a friendly and gracious host. Highly recommend!

I stayed at the ART Hotel at the very last minute and Rob was kind enough to accomodate me. It's located on Java island and is a 10-15 min walk from the train station or a 5 min ride from the bus that stops right in front of Centraal station. The bus drops you off less than a block from his place. His neighborhood is quiet and safe and is surrounded by water. I ran every morning around the island which has a paved road. There are only a few places to eat on the island but the italian restaurant around the corner served excellent food and was very Italian. Southern family I think. One more important detail is that a bicycle rental place is about 8 minute walk away below the hotel Movenpick. This is absolutely key to having a good time exploring Amsterdam. As for Rob himself he's a great host: very courteous and soft spoken gentleman. His apartment is playful, fun, comfortable and very clean. The Internet was blazing fast.

Robert is a great host and an interesting person with a wealth of knowledge about Amsterdam.

My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying wth Robert in Sept 2009. He was a great host and immediatly made us feel right at home. The room was awesome with a cute little balcony overlooking a canal. Everything was clean and we even got breakfast! Robert also had many helpful recommendations for things to do and places to see while we were in Amsterdam. I would absoulty recommend Robert for anyone heading to Amsterdam. Our trip was perfect, the apartment was perfect and Robert was a pefect host. Thanks Robert. I hope to see you again very soon!!!

Robert has a very lovely art style apartment in Amsterdam, tucked nicely away from the crowded and busy streets. A very lovely view of boats coming into the port. The room is spacious and cosy and very well-decorated.
