Cozy cottage

Iristine is the nicest host you could ever imagine. She was even kind enough to drive me to the Metro a couple of times. my room was very clean, and the bathroom was very clean. I did have some issues: although she is only a few blocks from Metro, those blocks are very uphill/downhill steep blocks. Difficult with luggage, or if you have trouble walking. Also, the bathroom is upstairs, while my room was down. I wanted the downstairs room as I have trouble with stairs, but I still had to climb stairs for the bathroom. The last thing that I need to say is that while the room I was in, and the bathroom, were very clean, the house in general was very cluttered. This may not be a problem for some people, but it bothered me a little.

I had a very pleasant stay hosted by Iris at her Cozy Cottage. Iris is kind and considerate. She gave me a ride in the rain to a nearby restaurant for dinner my first evening and offered a continental breakfast each of the two mornings I stayed in her home. The residence is a short walk from the Metro. The room is comfortable with adequate closet space; Wi-Fi is available--a fast and easy hook-up. There is also a cable television in the room. Iris is a fine host!

I had a great stay with Iris! I had to find accomodations quickly and she responded promptly. I was driving and she made sure that I knew how to get there, and when I arrived she provided a parking pass for me. It is also close to the Metro, so getting into DC was easy. She made sure I knew where things were in the house as well as the surrounding area. The room was clean and comfortable, and I would stay with her again.

Iris showed warm hospitality, went out of her way to help me locate a bank location nearby - driving me to the location during bad weather. Very relaxing stay, near the metro station.

I found Iris to be a excellent and accomodating host.. Excellent location to the metro and the neighborhood is very quiet. Even thou I was away from home and sometimes you tend not to sleep that well, the bed was very comfortable and I slept peacefully. I would definitely recommend the cozy cottage.

A delightful place and a delightful host--she provided a map of the Metro which was most helpful and even did some of my laundry when the humidity provided to be too much for my wardrobe!

Iris was an especially kind and friendly host and I enjoyed staying in her family home. Noteworthy was the bed - the most comfortable I've slept in on this journey or many others. The bedroom also has TV and fridge and large closet - everything you might need. Huntington is just two stops on the Yellow Line from Alexandria, a town with much to offer the tourist - also 30 min/ $2 bus ride from Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate, another visit worth making. Iris can provide good info on these as well as DC. Thanks for a very good visit, Iris!

I'm a local to the area and I stayed with Iris for three weeks while waiting for my new lease to start. The location is pretty tough to beat--just a couple of blocks from the Huntington Metro and next to all of the major interstate highways. The room was neat and clean, and Iris was a courteous and considerate host. Southern hospitality at its best :)

It was lovely staying at Iris's and her beautiful dog Georgia's house. My rooom was very clean and I had a very comfortable bed. And importantly for any visitors who may not have a car, it was easy to get to the tourist sights/city centre from Iris's house as there is a metro train line station close by. Thanks Iris and Georgia for a lovely stay.

My stay at Iris's little cottage was wonderful. What a great host. She picked me up from the Metro station because it was late at night when I arrived (it's only a 5 min walk from her house). The bathroom is shared so she also made sure I had a guaranteed time in the AM. She let me know about neighborhood stores and tourist attractions, offered clean sheets midpoint of my stay (I stayed for a week), and at the end she offered laundry facilities. The kitchen was available for cooking and I had a cube refrigerator in my room, so it was possible to prepare meals if I wanted to (I chose to eat out). My room was clean, the bathroom was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I met another resident (patent attorney) who had been living there for 2 months and really liked the arrangement. The other individual staying there was a patent examiner specializing in IT patents. (It's one stop on the Metro to the USPTO hence all the patent people; I was visiting to take a patent bar class.) I had complete privacy in my room and the neighborhood was quiet. I do think this used to be a rougher neighborhood pre-Metro. There are telltale chainlink fences that are being replaced by picket fences and nice landscaping. I saw a lot of neighbors on Iris's block doing home improvements. If the commuters were any indication this is a large middle to upper middle class neighborhood now with some military personnel. So if you see information to the contrary online regarding Huntington neighborhood it may be outdated. Yes the Metro station is sketchy at night but hey, that's true anytime you're this proximity to a large metropolitan area.

It was really nice to stay with Iris! She isa very warm and friendly person. I stayed there during the hurricane Irene and the next day we went together to discover the city. A compact room, with everything you need in it. The place is near the subway station, so this also was an advantage.

Iris was a great host. She was very accommodating. When I got there, she took me through the house and showed me everything. I had a vehicle so she provided a parking pass for her street along with the wifi access code, door code, etc. If you don't have a vehicle, her house is right by the Metro station which will take you anywhere you want to go in The DC area. Will definitely stay again on my next trip to the area. Thanks Iris!!

Enjoyed staying with Iris she is very friendly and helpful person. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The location is handy to the metro and there are frequent services to the centre of Washington.

Iris is a great hostes. It was a warm welcome with tea and cinnamon roll. Her house was lovely, she helps you in everything you asked. I enjoyed staying with her. Definitely I will stay with her again when I 'm back in Washing or Virginia. The location was correct as described. The Amtrak trainstation at the Kingstreet is very nearby. It was a pleasure to be in Virginia. Emie

A private bedroom with a key to lock your belongings. Iris is adorable.Last stop on the yellow line, Huntington. An easy walk downhill yet a hike going up to the Metro. Worth it!

Yes I recommend you to stay with Iris. The house is less than a mile away from the Metro. The house is beautiful. It has a very large dinning room and beautiful bathrooms on the top two levels. Iris is my big sister and she is a great host. So, stay with confidence. She is also an Obama supporter. Go Iris, Go Obama!!
