The space

My treat and treasure, this Riad has been growing and blooming for the past years, putting in by bits and pieces all my love and passion for local craft work and arts, flea markets, washed out colors, rituals and culinary delights, collecting objects and furniture, re-creating and renovating and putting everything together to create a unique spot, which allows an experience away from tourism and vacation “stress" only a few steps from local life, a refuge for me as well as for sharing, with friends and world travelers passing by, design lovers, creatives, foodies and adventurers – an oasis of space and chilling out in the middle of a mingling local area in the ancient medina of Marrakech.

in love with the eastern part of the medina, which remains the most authentic quarter with little tourism and only few guest houses, this part of the marrakech made it the perfect spot to set up this shelter and to experience colorful street&food markets, surrounded by the real buzzing local everyday life. only a 15-20min walk takes you to the main square DJMA EL FNAA, passing through the colorful labyrinth of the souks.

the total surface of about 280m2 offers a patio with a dip-in and refreshing pool of 4mx2m, living&dining room, open kitchen, 3 bedrooms of which each has its own bathroom&WC, a chill out balcony on the 1st floor with view into the patio, the top floor featuring a big roof terrace for sun bathing and a chimney corner for cozy nights. in hot summer nights we set up a bed under the stars .

the space is listed only on AIRBNB, which in its original purpose offers a platform of private spaces for rent. a lot of people tend to forget this, so here a small reminder, that LA MAISON is a private house and not a fully serviced BED AND BREAKFAST RIAD or GUEST HOUSE. to make things more comfortable and easy for you though, LA MAISON is being partly serviced, a little bonus in the package ;). our caretaker comes every day from 8.00-13.00 to make breakfast at whatever time you wish, sweeps around the main areas and supplies you with everything you need, just ask her whatever seems to be missing or to be replaced.

bed sheets and towels are supplied as well as a generous breakfast.

a pick-up from the airport or local station can be organized. We are collaborating with several trustworthy shuttle companies, our drivers are reliable, on time and know the location of the house. the shuttle will take you to the closest possible drop-off point depending on your arrival time, from where we can arrange a luggage carrier to guide you the last meters to LA MAISON. the transport charge is between 150-250,- dirhams for a one way airport shuttle.

The area is a very lively, buzzing local quarter. from there the entire medina is walkable, just to give you an idea of some starting points to explore the city:

-JEMAA EL FNA main square 15-20 min walking
-MEDERSA BEN YOUSSEFF, coran school, 10 min
-LE FONDOUK beautiful restaurant with roof terrace, 10min

bringing local moroccan boys or girls to guest houses for various purposes during day time and/or overnight is strictly forbidden by law and can engender penalties, legal pursuit, but most of all losing our good reputation in the neighborhood. please kindly take this in consideration before booking LA MAISON.

To inquire for availability please send me a message in advance. Maximum comfortable capacity is 4-5 people (3 double rooms).

I will be supplying you with my list of “FAVORITE SPOTS/ COUPS DE COEUR" or any other information you might need for in and around Marrakech to add this stay to some unforgettable travel memories.**

House Rules
Not suitable for pets
No parties or events
Check in is anytime after 3PM

Every day our caretaker comes between 8.00 - 13.00 to make you breakfast at your preferred time. To make communication easy, take 1 of the breakfast sheets, filling it in according to your desires (using 1 sheet for all to make things easier) and place it in the kitchen the night before.

Our caretaker is the caring soul of this house and will help to make your stay more pleasant and comfortable. She takes care of breakfast, plants, sweeps through the house and checks, if you are well supplied. We kindly ask you to respect, that there is no allowance for self-service or access to private storage spaces, so please speak to her after breakfast or in the evening, in case you need some stock-up on toilet paper or towels to be replaced. LA MAISON is a private house, not to be mistaken with a fully serviced RIAD or GUEST HOUSE, your rooms might not be cleaned on a daily basis.

We do offer occasional home cooking on demand. please let us know at least a day in advance and we will make arrangements, offering you a custom made menu for a reasonable budget. you just need to put the amount mentioned into THE BOX OF HONESTY in the living room and write down in the little book your name, date and how much you put in.

There is a big fridge in the kitchen, which also serves to stock the items and food meant for providing your daily breakfast from our side. We count on you to kindly respect (especially when you are traveling with children), that those storages should please not be touched during the day, or if, then kindly be replaced or payed for. However there is available space and you are welcome to store your own purchases in case of need.

The storage and laundry space is a private area, as well as all wardrobes and lockers not situated in your rooms. access is not allowed!! However, free washing service is supplied, just ask our caretaker and give her the items you wish to be cleaned, she will take care of it.

In Moroccan culture the roof terrace is a common place for drying laundry. All roof spaces are on various levels and can be seen in by the surrounding neighbors. We kindly ask you by respect for our local neighbors, their culture and religious beliefs to refrain from topless or nude sunbathing, as this represents an offense and insult and does result in unpleasant reactions and an undesirable disrespect for us and our guests in the neighborhood, which would be a shame. We have had complaints and would wish to respect our neighbors' ethic and culture by avoiding those incidents. We strongly count on your understanding.

bringing locals (moroccan girls or guys) for various purposes to guesthouses in morocco is strictly forbidden by law. we will risk penalties and pursuit by law and a lot of unpleasant problems, if our neighbors report those incidents. further it is important to refrain from those actions by respect for our neighbors, our reputation and the safety of all our future guests.

Drinking tap water is NOT recommended. it is not dangerous and locals drink it daily. by experience i would recommend to buy drinking water from the local shops or profit from our water stock in the house. we charge 10 dirhams per bottle. Showering and brushing your teeth, washing food or having a few ice-cubes in your drink is without any danger or harm.

Fresh towels and toilet paper will be supplied only on your demand, no self service or access to the storage&supply closed, but please kindly check with the staff, to hand out whatever needs to be replaced after your daily breakfast

Before leaving the house or going to sleep, please check, if all lights or other electric devices are turned off (as by experience in general lights in bathrooms, WC, roof terrace and rooms as well as the pool spot get easily forgotten)

There are 2 chimneys in the house, which come to action mainly from December until February. we supply wood for your free use.

As everything is on a trust basis, extra guests apart from the number of guests booked during your stay as well as spontaneous "sleepovers", or dinner parties with locals or acquaintances not staying in LA MAISON, are not allowed! We count and trust in you respecting this request.

Alcohol still remains a delicate subject and is basically not available in the medina by respect to the Islamic culture. The next supermarket is quite a ride out of town, so there are some supplies in the house, in case you have this craving feel of enjoying a glass of wine with your delicious home cooked meal. We trust our guests, to put the money for every bottle of wine or cava, into the little "BOX OF HONESTY" in the living room, writing down in the little book next to it your name, what bottle you took and how much money you put into the box. This is important for us to keep track:

-Cava white or brut/ 160,- dirham per bottle
-Red wine/rose/ 120,-dirham per bottle
- Water/ 10,- dirham per bottle (sparkling or still)

Any kind of domestic animals are not allowed in the house (including cats, dogs, ...turtles, leguans, reptiles, snakes or any other species from the local market)

For any doubt, query, demand or communication issue with the staff during your stay, please contact me directly via email, sms, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) or (website hidden), I will be online and reachable at any time in-between a maximum delay of a few hours.

There is wifi in the house:

Had a wonderful stay at Nicole's riad. This was my best airbnb experience by far and Nicole was a great host. I can't say enough good things. Thank you Nicole!

This is a real gem. We stayed in the riad for 4 nights and we had it all to ourselves. Both very romantic and super quiet. Nicole's taste in decor and picking those little treasures to make her home feel unique is amazing. Everywhere you look there's something to look at. She was super helpful booking us a cab for the Airport and generally communicating over e-mail worked perfectly. To look after the house and cook you breakfast there's sweetest Hanane. Her English isn't that well, and my French the same, but we had no trouble communicating. She was such a sweetheart, so warm and kind - and a pretty great cook. Try her homemade dinner on the rooftop terrasse! The neighborhood feels very "local", plenty of small foodstalls and a very bustling mainstreet, which might feel overhelming. But everyone is going about their own thing. At night the riad and area is pretty quiet. A perfect stay, we'll be back!

Nicole's Riad is simply stunning! An amazing and tranquil escape from the crazy streets of Marrakech. This cool and calm space has beautifully decorated rooms with a stunning roof terrace. In addition to this it also comes with the lovely Hanan, a wonderfully charming lady who cooked the most incredible breakfast, and upon request cooked us an amazing evening meal on the roof at sunset (one of the best experiences of our trip) Nicole was very helpful in communications and travel arrangements to and from the riad. It was a truly memorable stay. The food, the ambiance, the comfort, all faultless. We will definitely return!

Nicole's riad is so beautiful that even the already fantastic photos don't do it justice. It's location was perfect for our stay, right in the middle of the medina and a short walk from the souks and all the excitement, but a gorgeous haven of tranquility to come "home" to at the end of the day. I hope to stay here again soon!

Great stay and very nice host Nicole. Next, wonderful food and wonderful with Hanane who cooked for us two days straight. In addition, she was so kind to our little 7-month boy.

An oasis in the bustle of the medina streets. A calm corner far from the chaos to enjoy a mint tea, dream and let yourself go. I can’t imagine how much time I would spend in this beautiful coutyard if I had the chance to live there. Nicole and Hanane were really helpful hosts. They helped us with all our questions even before arriving to Marrakech. Nicole made us feel very welcomed and as if we were in our house, Hanane is lovely, she was so helpful and prepared the best breaksfast I have ever tasted in Morocco. Definetely, la maison is the place to be in Marrakech. I am already looking foward to come back.

On the edge of the busy tourist area, you will find La Maison, an Authentic area of Marrakesh where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, and yet be 15 minutes away by walk to the main square and souks. La Maison is one of the nicest riad in Marrakesh. Much thought and details has gone into making this house a designer's dream. Usually, when you see beautiful pictures on airbnb, it doesn't meet your expectations in real life. This is the complete opposite, the pictures are just a glimpse of what's inside. Nicole has done an amazing job with the house. Every single corner is a perfection! Hanan, the caretaker, was the life of the house. She is so kind and helpful! She is also an amazing chef, we had the best moroccan food - ever! We are so grateful to have met her, Hanan was definitely the highlight of our trip. Few recommendations: - Arrange airport transfers with Nicole - The Medina is like a maze, but thankfully Maps works perfectly!!! Get a free moroccan sim card at the airport. You will need to purchase an internet package (20 dh for 5 days/ 2 Gigabytes (they say Giga) at any local shop around the house, you pay and they will add the code on your phone. Don't call inwi, don't try activating or reloading yourself, you will waste your time! - Walk everywhere, but If you need a taxi, always book with Nicole. It's not easy to find a taxi in the neighbourhood, and you don't have to bargain with the driver! - Eat at least one dinner at home! We are so glad we picked La Maison. Don't hesitate to book, you will definitely be in awe as soon as you walk in.
