The Lookout Over The Superior

We spent the past weekend - 9/24 - 9/26 at the Lookout with our 3 kids ranging from 4 to 14 years old. This place far-exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it for the beauty of the surroundings, the wonderful accomodations of the home, and the ease of access to both Two Harbors and Duluth. The kids really loved the tower - so much so that the adults didn't get to try - maybe next time. Waking up at 5:30 and watching a fully lit ship cruise past in the moonlight was something I'll never forget. I would highly recommend this as an alternative to a hotel - kids could run outside, sit by a fire, see a beautiful lake and be themselves and the adults didn't have to worry about them bothering anyone. 5 stars for sure. - The Gleasons

Ali and Nicky have done a fabulous job on this home. I call it a home, because you can tell the work and love that went into it, to make each detail perfect for you to enjoy your stay. The decor is beautiful and simple. The artwork on the walls is the perfect splash of color to make the walls pop, yet still feel serene. you are in the middle of the woods with of the luxuries of a home. The kitchens and washer/dryer were so helpful with our stay Patti at the Mocha Moose is amazing to work with and she is helpful with every aspect along the way to make your trip an enjoyable one. Her coffee shop is a must go to place in Two Harbors. The only bad thing about our stay, is that we had to leave earlier. It really was a wonderful place and we would recommend staying there to anyone who was looking!

We give it 5 STARS for sure. We had a great weekend at the Look Out. A wonderful space that allowed us time to decompress, laugh and have S'mores by the fire! The staff at the Mocha Moose, from Patti to the awesome Baristas were so helpful and kind. Thanks again! The Gal Pals

We absolutely love The Lookout! We stayed in the main unit, with our 4 daughters for 4 days. It was so warm and cozy. Our older daughters loved that they got their own room and our little ones stayed in the main bedroom with us. The view was amazing thru the big windows, sunlight greeted us each day. Location was perfect, we spent time at Gooseberry, Split Rock, Betty's Pies and lots of stuff in Duluth. We enjoyed our coffees every morning from Mocha Moose! Gotta try the "mocha moose", it's amazing! We are planning to come back again soon, perhaps this fall or winter for grown up, restfull retreat! Our only negative, no AC and it was quite humid the days we were there.

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time at The Lookout. Great views of Lake Superior and a beautiful new home with lots of room. To top it off, this is a very private location...you feel like you are the only one for miles around you even though civilization is just a few minutes away. We would not hesitate to come back. In fact, we may come again before the snow flies. If you want natural beauty, architectural beauty and a place to getaway from the world....this is it.

This is a lovely refuge! We loved this amazing home and the location of being nestled in the woods. The girls spent hours in the tower, which is a special hideaway. Patty was a great hostess,and we enjoyed her carmel rolls each morining at the Cafe. We plan on making this our new place to go when we are in the area! Thank You!

Beautiful house and surroundings. Fully furnished, great view out the large windows and through the "lookout." Patty was helpful and friendly and makes a mean cappuccino (she has a coffee shop down the road). Great place to just "get away."

My new husband and I spent 3 days at the Lookout for a mini-moon right after our wedding. It was exactly what we needed. It's just far enough off the beaten path that we could have all the quiet and relaxation we needed after the hubbub of the wedding but close enough to Two Harbors and Duluth that we could go exploring when we wanted and grab a delicious bite to eat anytime. The views are lovely and incredibly calming. The fire-pit is a must. Don't forget marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers for s'mores! The lookout tower is the perfect place for snuggling up under one of the cozy blankets, and the deck offers amazing views of the stars. Cell service is spotty, which after the wedding was exactly what we needed but for a general weekend away might not be so great. The bed also left our backs a bit sore. But, all in all, a great getaway from the city and a beautiful place to escape. Thanks Ali, Nicky, and Pattie!

The Lookout is a great place to stay, especially if you are looking for a different experience than a hotel. The accommodations are nicer, and for a better price. Patty is great, keeps the place clean, and is able to help with whatever is needed. I was there with my wife and 2 kids, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Ryan Slipka

Modern, well equipped space. The "lookout" on the top floor was a great place to sit and sketch the Superior view. The location was convenient for day trips to various state parks for hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing. We loved it and will book again. Lynn, Phil, Mike and Matt.

We stayed in the studio for two nights. It was clean and it was nice to have a kitchen. The first night there was no one in the unit above, and it was very quiet. The second night there was a family above us, and it was quite loud. It sounded like large animals were running and moving furniture. It seems like they need more insulation between the two floors. I turned on a fan to muffle the noise. Overall, I liked the place. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the patio, and going up to the lookout to look for ships. Patti and Kayla were very, very nice.

WOW!!!! What an amazing place to stay. We loved our stay at the Lookout. We stayed in the studio for a total of 5 days. It had everything we needed. We plan on heading back that way in the fall to enjoy the autumn colors. Thank you to Ali and Nicky for making our stay in the Lookout a memorable moment.

I love this location which is not far from Duluth and Gooseberry Falls is near also. I studio unit which was great for me as I was by myself. I was able to get wireless connection! Def a great place to stay. Looking forward to go back again sometime next month.

The sudio was a wonderful get away on lake superior. Ali and Nicky where extremely easy to get a hold of and really made it easy for us to have a relaxing vacation. The scenic views from the studio are nothing short of breath taking. I would reccomend this to anyone as well will try to stay in the studio on superior in future years.

I have known Nicky for many years. I was lucky to work with Nicky at the U of Minn. She is very creative and fun, and has a joyful spirit you want to be around. We still miss working with her. She is the best kind of person you want to know, and this is something I will want to do.
