~ Beautiful one bedroom apartment located on the first floor can sleep up to 4 guests. A cozy bed is in the bedroom, and there's a fold-out couch in the living room.
~ This spacious apartment has a living room, bathroom, bedroom and big hallways. The living room has a kitchenette, with fridge/freezer, coffee-maker, microwave, and toaster oven. The bedroom and living room have 13-foot ceilings. Laundry-service is available upon request.
~ Please inquire about booking at least 24 hours before you plan on staying here.
~ The house is located near Dudley Sq., in a historically zoned neighborhood. Dudley Sq. is a major transportation hub, which has the Silver Line and several major buslines. The buses travel to every corner of the city. It's less than a ten-minute walk to Dudley Sq., down two main streets. This summer, I hosted three female guests from Montreal, who told me the public transportation is terrific, the walk to the public transportation depot was easy, and that my neighbors are extremely friendly. I agreed.
~ The highway (93) and the Mass Pike (90) are a short drive away. About a 15-minute walk or quick drive gets you to South Bay shopping center, where there is a Stop n Shop, large Asian grocery store, Target, Home Depot, Marshalls, Office Max, Best Buy and Old Navy. There are also neighborhood shops for more convenient, everyday shopping.
~ The unique features of this apartment include Victorian decorative details and high ceilings. The neighborhood is residential, meaning not a transient and/or college student area. This makes for a more pleasant and respectful atmosphere. The majority of residents own their property. There's a great cafe located nearby, ideal for relaxing or having a business meeting.
~ The very last photo amoungst the pix is the historic Shirley-Eustis house. Here is a discription: Royal Governor William Shirley's Georgian mansion is the only remaining country house in America built by a British Royal Colonial Governor. This imposing design is attributed to Peter Harrison, "America's first architect."
~ Great location for anyone who needs to easily get to the South End, Back Bay, Downtown, Hynes Convention Center, Boston Convention Center, BU Medical Center (BUMC), Northeastern University (NU), Mass Art, Wentworth, Museum School of Fine Arts, Longwood Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, UMass, or the Airport.
~ There is an informational booklet provided with info on places to go, places to eat, along with maps and public transportation schedules.

  • Laurel was extremely friendly and more than helpful as we made our plans to see the city. Her old house is amazing with original detailing, but updated with modern conveniences. Thanks, Laurel, for the pastries, other snacks, and breakfast!

  • Very cute little apartment!

  • Staying at Laurel's was great. It was within a short walking distance of the bus station and about a $10 cab ride home from the center of town. The Apartment is a spacious one bedroom with a very comfortable bed, a bathroom, and living room in a gorgeous victorian house. The apartment was very clean. Laurel treated us with delicious breakfast treats daily and fridge stocked with butter, jelly, cream cheese and milk. There was also tea and coffee. She was one of the best hosts I've ever encountered and if we're ever in boston were definitely staying there again.

  • Laurel was a great host, attentive and there when she was needed, without getting in our way. Would strongly recommend her place, which is in a convenient spot and a lovely place in itself.

  • Laurel's place is not in the centre of town but it is easy to get to everything and Laurel has wealth of information about transport options and she explained it all to us when we arrived. Everything is clean and tidy and the bed and the pullout sofa are both comfy. When a taxi was taking a while to come Laurel loaded us and our stuff into our car and drove us herself, which was much appreciated! Laurel was a great host.

  • Beautiful apartment, very friendly and helpful host. Roxbury itself was a wonderful friendly neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay and would come again. Thanks Laurel!

  • Rarely have I met such a amicable host whose concern to make her visitors feel at home barely supersedes her pride at sharing her love for her city and neighborhood. Laurel's apartment truly became our home away from home for the long Easter weekend and we were enchanted by the house's charm, homey decoration. Her very generous selection of breakfast scones, pastries, coffee and drinks was icing on an already delightful cake. Her home will now be our go-to destination whenever we stay in Boston.

  • Laurel is a lovely host and the apartment is very much as promised.

  • Laurel was a great host - very helpful and friendly. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and we had no trouble using the public transport to get around the city.

  • Laurel was an amazing host! She accomodated our early check-in and provided us with amazing treats like freshly baked bread and bagels for breakfast! My only complaint is that we figured out the subway system a little late in the game and ended up paying quite a few taxi cabs to take us into Downtown. The subway is really easy and I would recommend getting to know it well if you stay here. The space is warm and cozy and we slept well both nights and the free wifi came in super handy!!

  • About: I grew up in Oberlin, Ohio. I became a resident of Boston after high school in 1993. One thing I always say is that Boston is just like my hometown, but it’s a city. They’re both college towns, with lovely Victorian architecture, parks and trees, cute local businesses, and they are both full of smart, mostly liberal folks from around the world. So I live here because it reminds me of home, but it’s more exciting than Ohio. So, in 2005, I purchased a large Victorian home in a residential neighborhood of Boston, right in the heart of the city. The house has five separate apartments, each one unique and delightful. But one of the best features is outside the home, and that is the yard. The house is on a 14,000 sq. foot lot, which makes the yard one of the biggest you’ll find in the heart of the city. About myself, I am a member of the local food community, and I work within it as well. I enjoy cooking, gardening, dancing, The Simpsons, being a homeowner, sewing, history, sitting around with friends, community activities, and reading non-fiction. I’m glad this website exists! One more amazing thing that the internet has made available for us.
