About this listing

Located on one of Utrecht's original canals, our wharf-cellar-turned-guesthouse "De Witte Leeu" has a truly unique view and location. You will find a comfortable and charming B&B, which gives you an authentic experience in visiting Utrecht. And it's only 25 minutes away from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport!

The space

De Witte Leeu is a generous 40 m2, and contains a kitchenette with all necessities to fix a snack, a fridge, a microwave, a Nespresso coffee maker and so on. Of course we offer free Wi-Fi and there's a flat-screen television with 150 movies build-in for your entertainment. In the living you find also a sofa-bed for 2 persons. The sleeping quarters with its king-size bed (two box springs) and a small but comfortable bathroom are situated at the back of the cellar. In a separate area at the front you'll find furniture for use on the wharf. Weather permitting you can sit out to relax, eat and watch the boats go by. Also you find 2 bicycles in this vestibule. Breakfast is not included. If you wish we can serve a continental breakfast for € 10,- p.p but please book before arrival.

Guest access

You have your own private entrance to the B&B and the adjacent "babyroom" with cot and babychair.

Interaction with guests

Of course we do receive our guest with pleasure and we can answer all you like to know about Utrecht or give you information about several things. You can always ask us for information.

Other things to note

For even more authentic Utrecht experience we recommend riding a bicycle along the Kromme Rijn to the historic Amelisweerd Estate. Here, a new museum, the Museum Oud Amelisweerd has recently opened its doors with a combination of three varied collections, one of them Chinese art. Be sure to take a trip to Rhijnauwen and visit the Tea House on a nice day; not to be missed either. If you don't ride a bicycle, don't worry. It's lovely for walks, too. Alternatively, you can rent a canoe or a fluisterbootje (whisper boat) for a leisurely trip down the canal to the rivers Vecht and Kromme Rijn.

Lovely apartment in a unique setting. Could not have asked for anything better. A nice home away from home. Hilda was very accommodating with our last minute questions and requests.

Hilda and Rudy were perfect hosts, really helpful but unintrusive. The property was really lovely, cosy and warm and in a great location. The beds were extremely comfortable and they had provided everything one would need! We would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. Hopefully we will get to return again!!!

Hilda and her husband could not have been more accomodating. Extremely fast reply of any queries you have. I stayed with my mum, dad, sister and boyfriend for my 21st birthday and the side room for me and my boyfriend was perfect and in just as good condition and comfortable as the main cellar. Would definitely recommend.

Hilda User ProfileHilda is a superhost.

I am very lucky to live in a genuin canalhouse in the centre of Utrecht. Now being retired it is a great pleasure to run a bed and breakfast in the wharfcellar under my house.
