Large

Welcome to Lisa's little lair. This is a large studio (for the East Village, New York) with plenty of bathroom space. This brick 6 story apartment building was built in 1920. Please note that the studio is partially below street level -- known as an "english basement". You'll be walking down half a flight of stairs rather than up. ;)

Perfect for a couple! Please inquire if you would like 3 people. There will be an extra charge of $25 for an extra person per night. The sofa is not a fold out but I have air mattresses. Also please note there is a cleaning fee of $25.

If this apartment is booked or you are looking for a bigger place, check out our other listing at http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/27899. Rates are $199 to $249 (for weekend).

Check in and check out is flexible -- I work around guests.

Large bathroom, alcove kitchen (with fridge, sink, counter space) space but no stove. I have a microwave, coffeemaker and electric kettle.

Close to everything: Whole foods (at union square and houston street), Met foods, 24 hour village grocery store, natural foods stores.

Around the corner from the hustle of St. Marks but once you enter the apt, you'll leave the noise behind.

Location, location, location! 7th Street and 1st/2nd Avenue. Closest to the subway you'll get in the east village.

It's right off the Astor Place stop on the 6 line (green) or 8th Street stop off the N/R (yellow) and 7 minutes walk to the F (orange) and L train (crosstown grey). Best location ever!

Tip: Don't stay too far over in alphabet city (the A,B,C avenues) because it's a long trek to the subway.

On the same street as the beautiful Cooper Union Building, McSorley's, a block away from Veselka, lots of cheap eats. And that means 7 short (not Avenue blocks) up to Union Square.

I know the area pretty well so I can direct you to shopping, eating, sightseeing, etc. I also have guidebooks for day trips out of NYC, for Queens, and Brooklyn.

I'll supply clean sheets, a set of towels, soap, etc and you can drink/eat whatever is in my fridge. ;)

NOTE ABOUT THE EAST VILLAGE: You should know that because of zoning laws, most of the buildings in the East Village are pre-war and six stories or less walk-up buildings. The East Village is more bohemian and more of a neighborhood than many areas in NYC. If you are looking for a clean and cozy apartment in a building and neighborhood with a lot of character with diverse options for restaurants, shopping and bars, this is for you.

If you are looking for a luxury building with a doorman, then this apartment and area is not for you.

To get here from the airport, you can either take:
-cab $45
-airport express bus - $12-$15 each way (pretty quick sometimes depending on traffic)
-airtrain to subway/long island railroad - $9-$14 (lots of transfers/takes about an hour and 15 min)

Subways near us:
-6 is two street blocks away at Astor Place
-NRW is three street blocks away at Astor Place/8th Street NYU
-F is seven street blocks away on 2nd Avenue/Houston
-L (runs east-west) is on 3rd Ave/14th Street
-4,5 (express) is at union square 7 blocks away (ten minute walk)
-Also a bunch of bus lines that run north-south along 2nd Ave, 3rd Ave, and 1st Ave near us. Crosstown buses on Houston and 8th Street around the corner.

Note: street blocks average one minute to walk each, while avenues are longer, around 4 minutes to walk. I like to walk everywhere, and can tell u how long it'll take to get anywhere. 15 minutes to Washington Square Park, 15 minutes to Soho, 20 minutes to Chelsea...less if you walk fast!
