River View Apartment in Alfama!

Barbara's apartment is the perfect place to stay when you're in Lisbon. And Barbara was very warm and welcoming. Thank you again, Barbara! Hope to see you soon. If I go to Lisbon again I will stay here again.

Barbara's flat was absolutely lovely and in a wonderful part of Lisbon. We really enjoyed staying there and would highly recommend it. I feel that the flat would work best for a couple as the bathroom is attached to the second bedroom and not especially conducive to privacy! When I was there the bathroom door was broken which meant there was only a curtain separating the bathroom from the second bedroom - something that we struggled with a bit (we were using both bedrooms). The living room and second bedroom lights didn't work, but there were two floor lamps in the living room. However they didn't give out a huge amount of light - no big deal unless you want to be able to read at night. Apart from that a great flat, great value for money and Barbara was great with communication.

The location of this flat is perfect for feeling as part of the Lisbon culture - especially that of Fado. The Italian restaurant close by (Cassanova) is highly recommended (although it isn't Portuguese) and has beautiful views of the sea. The flat served our needs well. Barbara was more than accommodating. She made us feel very welcome and provided clean linens and tea! I wish we had been able to spend more time with her, as she seemed like a very nice person. I wouldn't recommend this flat for an older person as the beds weren't very comfortable, and there were many stairs to climb. The positives, however, outweighed the negatives. Upon arrival my telephone didn't work (which I was supposed to use to call Barbara to meet her). Plan for this event to happen, because taxi drivers cannot find the flat. It is quite easy to get to from Museu do Fado, so have Barbara tell you directions from there in case this happens to you as well. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!

El apartamento de Bárbara esta muy bien y su ubicación es muy buena, nos ha permitido conocer a pie una gran parte de la ciudad: Alfama, Rossio, Chiado... Bárbara ha sido muy simpática y amable, todo ha sido perfecto. La ciudad es estupenda y los lisboetas muy amables, seguro que volvemos!!

Barbara has been the greatest host ever. Even before my arrival she's made sure that everything was ready to accomodate me the best as she could. Barbara's place is perfect for those who want to feel at home and at the same time want to experience the real Lisbon. The light coming in from the outside early in the morning through the windows is so beautiful. I recommend Barbara as a host and her place 100%. Thanks Barbara. Has been a pleasure to know you. The bathroom and the kitchen are small and basic but the apartment is very well located in a moving and charming district.

This compact apartment is a great choice for visiting Lisbon. Located in Alfalma, it provides for some splendid views while also giving you the chance to experience life in this older part of town (yet without being too far away from the centre). In winter, a portable heating system is also provided for added comfort during the night. Overall, I highly recommend renting this apartment.

We quite enjoyed Barbara's apartment, all was good.

We stayed in Barbara's apartment for about three weeks. The apartment is in a very cool area, has a wonderful view and southern exposure, so we actually sunbathed in the apartment during January! The Alfama street murmur trickles in - lovely. The loft bedroom is comfortable, the bed is fine. The hot water gets nice and hot (but you need to learn how to control the hot water heater, it took me two weeks to figure this out!) The internet is fast and reliable. The kitchen is super tiny, but if you don't plan on doing much cooking, is fine for the occasional meal. A couple of odd things though - the entire apartment slants a bit and thus when you sit on the couch, you kind of slant off of it (it slants forward). Also, the extra round chair is no longer there, so the two of us sat for three weeks on the one small couch - that is really the only place to sit (somewhat) comfortably. Also, the kitchen sink leaks a bit, so if you plan on doing a lot of cooking (we did), watch your wet feet. Also note that the bathroom door does not close. You can close off the entire "second" bedroom (and thus, bathroom) from the living room for privacy, or draw the bathroom curtain.
