PLEASE READ COMPLETELY BEFORE MAKING BOOKING. WE HAVE THE OCCASIONAL GUEST WHO BOOKS BASED ON THE PRICE ALONE AND IS 'SURPRISED' BY SOME ASPECTS OF THE PLACE EVEN THOUGH IT'S ALL LISTED HERE.

About the room: 1961 features a queen bed. We are not a hotel so please double check with us on any items you may need. We've had guests expecting us to provide laundry, ironing board, etc. When in doubt, please ask!

Located in the 'Heart of Kowloon', on the 4th floor of a traditional 'walk-up' building in Mong Kok (sorry, no lifts!), our newly renovated apartment offers you a genuine glimpse of life for the common folks of Hong Kong. Toilet and shower areas are shared.

The building is conveniently located within close walking distance to a variety of things:

- across the road from A21 (airport express) bus stop
- 3 min. walk to Prince Edward MTR station
- 5 min. walk to the Goldfish Market
- 7 min. walk to Fa Yuen Street Market (bargain-priced fashion)
- 7 min. walk to the Flower Market
- 10 min. walk to the Yuen Po Street Bird Garden
- 10 min. walk to the garment and electronics district
- 9 min. walk to Mong Kok East MTR station (direct line to New Territories and Shenzhen)

In addition, China travel agencies and bus/train companies are literally across the road, making journeys to and from the mainland extremely easy to arrange.

And being in the 'Heart of Kowloon', it really doesn't take long to get to other cultural gems:

- 5 min. on the subway to Ladies Market, Temple Street Night Market, Jade Market.
- 10 min. on the subway to get to Hong Kong Island.

  • About: Hi there! We're a couple of avid backpackers who divide our time between photography, playing music, traveling and other creative endeavours. Having crisscrossed the globe both together and individually over the last ten years (and still doing so!), we want to provide in Hong Kong the same culturally enriching experience that we've always had staying in backpacker inns and homestays in different pockets of the world. The countries we've had the pleasure of experiencing thus far: Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Canada, China, Denmark, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, USA, Vietnam, and Wales We believe that in addition to providing you with a clean and safe environment to rest and spend the night in, we want to ensure that your stay in Hong Kong equates to a genuine local experience that exists beyond the pages of guidebooks and tourist maps. Whilst we don't dissuade our guests from visiting the standard tourist sights of HK, we believe this city has so much more to offer. Our focus is on supporting traditional local shops and businesses, to highlight to you aspects of Hong Kong that are slowly disappearing or sadly neglected. Thanks to the ideal location of our building, i.e. in a Chinese low income working class area, there are countless places of this nature that we can point you to. We ourselves love to explore this city we call 'home'. As a result of this passion, we too are continuously discovering hidden gems that we would gladly share with you, and even bring you to. Although we both have day jobs and a family to run, we live just a couple of blocks away, so our goal is to be available whenever possible to make your stay a comfortable and personal one. We're still in the teething stage so please bear with us, but we are working hard to create a memorable stay for you in our 'hometown'.
