About this listing
Enjoy nature and privacy on our 50 acres of wild forest, open pasture land, and spring-fed pond surrounded by Annette's cultivated wildflower meadow. Share a day or two with birds, wildlife, rare woodland wild flowers, and of course, the sheep.
Bare-bones and completely private woodland camp site next to two trickling mountain streams. Please note that you will need to bring your own tent, sleeping, and camping gear. AirBnB does not have a "No Bed" option, so I have to say "Airbed", but there isn't one. The good news is that for some reason there are NO MOSQUITOS in Bovina. Because of farm chores, seasonal daylight hours, and other factors, check in time is critical so that we can greet you and get you started for the night. Your arrival time is flexible, but we need to agree on the time in advance.
Wi-Fi internet, no cell.
Interaction with guests
We live here, so if there's something you need, just ask.
We're located in a very rural mountain hollow, so there's not much in the way of night life. That's the point of staying in Bovina.
Annette & I run a small sheep flock on the property. There's always something to do on the farm to care for them; you're welcome to help, watch, or ignore it. We don't have an intern program, so it's all just fun and learning. You can learn more about our
Additionally there's hiking, touring the back roads and bike trails, local shops & farmer's markets. You can bring a book to read in the shade, bask in the sun, sketch, or just get in some serious chill-time.
Sure, you can drive here and tour the surrounding farms & countryside. If you prefer, there's plenty of nature to do and see within walking distance.
Other things to note
We offer a campsite only; you must bring your own tent and any equipment you'll need. We will provide a campfire starter kit, and there's plenty more wood to collect from the forest for warmth & cooking.
Cancellation: We have the most flexible cancellation policy that AirBnB offers. Additionally, as a tent site rental in the Catskills, we understand that weather plays an unpredictable and important part of your stay. Most experienced campers understand that rain or other inclement weather, is always possible and accept it as part of the trip. If good weather is critical to your stay, we offer some adjustment to AirBnB’s policy. Payments prior to AirBnB’s cancellation deadline are refunded as specified by AirBnB’s policy. Cancellations after that deadline (i.e. not refund from AirBnB) are compensated as follows: If you book a minimum of 2 (two) nights between Thursday and Saturday, we will give you an equal number of contiguous nights that you paid for at no charge. If you book a minimum of 1 (one) night between Sunday and Wednesday, we will give you an equal number of contiguous nights that you paid for at no charge.
No firearms, hunting, or trapping. If you leave a fire unattended, disrespect the land, leave litter, or harass the sheep, you're out of here! We also highly recommend not using power tools while naked and/or impaired. That's pretty much it.
Annette and I are ExPat New Yorkers, started anew as shepherds in 2010. Beginning with 4 ewes and a ram, we now graze over 60 sheep a year on 10 acres of pasture.
