Next to the apartment, the famous Bergmanstrasse goes all the way to Mehringdamm with a lot of shops and restaurants on the way. It is the neighborhood that made the reputation of Kreuzberg. Two weeks won't be enough to try all the frühstück (breakfast). The apartment itself is quiet and one street away from the Marheineke place. The place is surrounded by restaurants as well as a large in-door market. Every week-end a market is installed on the place.
The apartment is 70m2 on the ground floor, with high ceilings typical of old Berlin buildings. There are two bedrooms and a living room. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, fridge, oven, toaster, dish washer. The bathroom has a hot tub and a washing machine.
A private terrace is located in the courtyard : the windows from the kitchen and the bedroom oversee it. There are two small tables and four chairs and it's great to sit there for a drink in the evening.
Ten minutes walk away, the Tempelhof airport offers an exceptional park. It was decommissioned in 2008 and you can walk the airplane tracks: an experience everyone should try. When there is wind it is populated with kites. A beer garden is installed in the middle.
The nearest subway station (Gneisenaustraße 5 minutes walk) is three stops away from Checkpoint Charlie and five stops away from Unter den Linden. A bike shop in Bergmanstrasse (fahrradstation) rents bikes : they are the preferred transportation in Berlin. A taxi station can be found near the subway.
