  Julie is a friendly and accommodating host and her place is awesome! Super clean and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need. Julie also prepared a helpful welcome letter with information about activities and restaurants in the area. We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation.

  I stayed at Julie's Rhododendron Rooms while in Eureka for business. It was so much better than a hotel! The place is clean, cute, comfortable, and stocked with the necessities. I also liked the letter Julie left providing answers to any questions I could have and giving suggestions for places to eat and things to do. What can be done better? Add a power strip to the bedroom to plug in my various devices, although maybe that's against some California safety law? That's about it.

  We stayed two nights at the rhododendron room (which is really its own apartment) and could easily have stayed longer. Julie is the perfect hostess. She had everything prepared for our stay (organic coffee and teas, fruit, filtered water, a fully equipped kitchen, and she even left us cream in the fridge!!! ) The apartment was very clean and came stocked with books and games as well. We stayed warm even though it was raining out and we found her home to be in great proximity to downtown, restaurants and beautiful parks. We especially appreciated the letter Julie had prepared for us outlining some great hikes and places to check out nearby. We certainly recommend this for anyone travelling in the area on a short or long term stay. 5 stars across the board!!!

  Our stay in the Rhododendron Rooms was fantastic. We drove up the California Coast from the SF Bay Area to the Willamette Valley with one night in Eureka. We got a bit of a late start, and so didn't get into Eureka until close to 7, but Julie didn't seem to mind. Indeed, she was very friendly when we showed up at her door, gave us the key to the apartment, and then we didn't see her again — this is just how we like it. The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable, and more than large enough for the two of us. The layout is interestingly quirky: you have to walk through the bathroom to get from the living/kitchen area to the bedroom, so don't stay here with someone you don't know (but then, why would you travel with a stranger?). The kitchen was better stocked than we expected, with napkins, dish towels, and a good assortment of pots and pans. We could not find any large mixing/serving/salad bowls of any type, but we made do. It's hard to come up with anything critical to say about this apartment, but I'll try to just to prove that I'm not a uniformly glowing person. Hrm. The only thing I can think of is that the wifi (which some people don't even provide!) had a little trouble in the living room around 8pm (showing 3/4 bars, but dropping the connection) — by 10pm in the bedroom it worked perfectly. We particularly appreciated the small bowl of fruit sitting out on the counter, the coffee, and the fresh pint of half-and-half in the fridge. We would definitely stay here again.

  The Rhododendron Rooms is definitely a place I'd love to stay again! I had booked the room for a friend's birthday, and we were so excited when we walked into the unit...full kitchen with anything you'd need for a stay, a beautiful bathroom and the most comfy bed imaginable! It was extremely clean and welcoming-there was even fruit and everything to make coffee! :) We met Julie briefly as we were leaving for a night out, and she was very nice and a gracious host. Thanks, Julie! The Rhododendron Rooms helped make the trip a perfect mini-vacation!

  What a place! The 'room' is really a furnished apartment. We stayed here a couple of nights and as many already mentioned, it is centrally located; it's walking distance to downtown and a short drive to the coast. We highly recommend the Rhododendron room for anyone traveling up north, skip the hotel scene. Too bad we didn't meet Julie!

  Julie offers a very comfortable one bedroom apt attached to her house in Eureka. The bed is quite comfortable. A plate of fresh fruit is a pleasant welcome plus coffee and cream (in the fridge) is available. We stayed with Julie while visiting our son who attends the Humboldt University and very pleasantly surprised by how nice, comfortable and clean the accommodations were. We highly recommend it...   Julie's place felt like we were staying in our own private suite. Everything was very clean, and we appreciated the space heaters to keep us warm during the chilly nights! Julie was kind enough to leave a list of places to visit, eat, and explore- which was very helpful.

  Julie is an amazing host. I accidentally locked myself out of the apartment while retrieving my suitcases from the car and she rescued me right away. NOTE: I somehow managed to not unlock the door completely when I entered. Pay attention to the handle when you leave if you just going to the car for something. The apartment is neat, clean, and has plenty of room for one to two people comfortably. The kitchen is very nice and I appreciated the coffee/ creamer/ sugar and organic fruit that was left for me. Julie has supplied two heaters in the apartment and they were adequate to keep me warm at night. The water takes a little bit to get warm, but that is typical of older houses (I live in an old Victorian). I did get sick while visiting and really appreciated the Ginger tea that was supplied in the kitchen. There is no TV, but there is a radio. As noted in previous reviews, the apartment is located right by a busy road, so there was traffic noise around the usual busy times. I did not notice the noise in the middle of the night, which is good as I am a light sleeper and never required using the ear plugs I brought just in case. Overall, Julie is a fantastic host and the apartment is great alternative to the typical hotel room. Thank you, Julie!
