Description

The space

Oakhurst House is a traditional Victorian home that existed long before the Titanic set sail on her maiden voyage from Queenstown across the Atlantic. You are now staying in this historical home very close to the very same Harbour that was the last port for the S.S. Titanic.

Guest access

The washroom is modern and spacious, shared between the 3 guest bedrooms.
We provide a tea/coffee facility and free wifi (available only in the living room and dining room area at the moment).
There is free parking available in our driveway for our guests.
To facilitate your peace and quiet, none of our rooms have TVs. However, you may watch TV in the lounge area.
Full breakfast is served between 8-10am. We will accommodate with advance notice any special dietary requirements, such as: vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. Contact me for more details prior to arrival.

Interaction with guests

On arrival, we meet and greet our guests and are available 24/7 for any queries. We then take a breakfast order and let you rest /relax.
We then see you the following morning for a beautiful morning spread.

The neighborhood

We would also highly recommend a tour around St.Colman's Cathedral, the Crypt below it and the old Bridewell Prison. We can arrange a discount on the tour. They also dig into the history of the Lusitania Ship that was bombed during the war off Cork. Let me know on your arrival and I can organize it for you.

Have a look at the guidebook for more local tourist information after booking.

Getting around

It makes for a perfect weekend break with no transport required, being only 8 minutes' walk from Cobh centre and train station. Cobh was the last port of call of the Titanic and has a wonderful heritage centre. The region's many attractions include historic houses, championship golf, sea angling, horse riding, with shopping in Cork City a half hour drive.

Shop. Pub. Restaurant 440 yards. Sandy Beach 20 miles.

Other things to note

If you have special requirements I.E. extra pillows & blankets, you can request them at reception and we will try to meet them.
We can provide an iron and ironing board, a dry cleaning service, extra towels and linen or a hairdryer if you so wish.
We even supply a hot water bottle for those colder nights!

What a lovely BnB. Eileen couldn't have been more kind or accomadating. My only complaint is that it is a slight walk into town, but it's not even that bad. I'd absolutely stay here again.

Eileen was such a doll, everything about our stay here was wonderful. The only downside is that we were here for such a short time. Not only is her house beautiful with amazing views, Eileen treated us like royalty and you can sense the love put into everything she does. The location was great, a nice refreshing walk to the main part of town. Our room had a spectacular view of the harbor and was the comfiest bed we've ever slept on. We were so sad to leave but would love to stay again. Thanks Eileen!

Oakhurst House is charming with its Victorian style and modernized amenities, the views are lovely (even in February!), and we couldn't have asked for a more amiable and knowledgeable host than Eileen! It's a lovely walk to the center of town and breakfast the following morning was a dream--it set us up for touring the town the following day. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity and such a lovely host!

The host goes the extra mile to make sure guests are comfortable; history and current events of the town are shared generously; the breakfast cooked and served is both delicious and pleasing to the eye. The location of this BnB worked well for my purposes, and we welcomed the scenic walk and history of Cobh.

This is a beautiful place to stay! Eileen is a wonderful host who made the best breakfast. The location was within walking distance of Cobh and the room was very comfortable. I wish I had stayed longer.
