About this listing
Situated in the backyard of a masterhouse, this two story apartment is in a hottest area of Austin, 78704. Spacious master room and downstairs offers a great space to relax and kick up your feet. Whether you are a couple getting away for an anniversary or friends/family wanting to explore Austin, our home is conveniently located to the main attractions and allows for pure relaxation while resting from a fun day. We are surrounded by shopping and FOOD GALORE! Mini kitchen for meals at home.
We love to garden so as you walk in to the property, you will be greeted by a veggie garden and landscaping. There's a nice fire pit to sit around as well, so long as we have advanced notice we can make sure there's wood available. With a king bed and two queen sofa sleepers, six people can have ample space to enjoy their time together in Austin. (New bed & mattress January 2016!) Guests have complimented us on how cozy and welcoming the space is. We keep it very clean and stocked with plenty of coffee for the Keurig, bottled water, and a few snacks because we know traveling can make you hungry! We just installed a kitchenette (October 2016.) It will has a mini fridge, two burner stove, sink, and microwave/ convection oven. Really, anything you will need for a vacation when surrounded by fabulous restaurants! A very quiet neighborhood tucked into the heart of the city. We take pride in welcoming our guests as if your our own family! Home owners are on sight and can assist with any needs, including "local hot spots" and entertainment recommendations. We also respect your privacy while you're here. We will give you the ultimate respect and privacy unless we sense you want to engage with us.
Dogs are welcome as it's always fun to travel with Fido! We ask that you please scoop the poop. No aggressive dogs permitted.
The day before your arrival, we will provide you with the keyless entry code to the dwelling. Flight or travel delays- no big deal. You're welcome to check in at your convenience!
Since we have our golden retriever on site, even though she is as sweet and friendly can be, we ask if you're traveling with your dog to keep the grey gate closed to keep them separated if there's no supervision. We are proud to say we've never had an incident with dogs keeping this safety rule in place :)
Interaction with guests
We are happy to leave you completely alone or be just a knock on the door away. We have been hosting for two years now and have had dinner with guests, which is always a joy- we've also had guests wanting privacy. We are pretty good on picking up how others like to interact :) We do have a VERY friendly golden retriever who will be out in the yard on occasion, but she sticks to the front yard since it's gated separately. She's our little greeter.
Other things to note
We do not accept one-night stays on the weekend unless the other weekend night is booked.
We have been hosting on AirBnB for over three years. We have really enjoyed being hosts as we live in such a fun part of town!! We are just a few minutes from all of the hottest shopping on South Congress and now, South Lamar. We strive to make our guests love their time in Austin as much as we do. Please check out our guidebook found on the AirBnB website or the binder on the countertop; It gives some great ideas of what's around us and how we have fun in the city!
One block from the bus route into downtown. We recommend downloading the Metro Austin (free) app. Uber and Lyft have departed but there's Ride Austin (so far the best experience) and Fasten that have swept in.
Extra pillows and blankets are located in the ottoman. "Play towels" for outside use (pools, etc.) are located in the downstairs bathroom under the sink.
There is a patio light that you can turn on so you can see your way to the dwelling; It's located to the right of the sliding door.
We do not accept one-night stays on the weekend unless the other weekend night is booked. (For example, Friday night is booked and you want to stay On Saturday, we will then accept- or vice versa.)
Parking is available in the street.

We have been married for three years and made it a point that our first home would be in the heart of where all of the fun is! Kelly is a triathlete and marathon runner who can point you to the best trails, yoga studio, or bike shop. Mark is an avid reader and history buff-- and can quote almost any movie. We are both natives of Central Texas and have been in Austin for 9 (Kelly) and 12 (Mark) years, so we know this city pretty darn well!
Our weekends usually revolve around having fun with our dog at parks, gardening (both edible and aesthetic) or venturing to brew pubs in the neighborhood. The restaurant scene in our neighborhood is constantly featuring a new "hot spot". Chances are, we've checked it out! We love traveling The Carribean and visiting the nearby Hill Country for day trips. We prefer renting homes on vacation so that we can truly get the "local" experience and enjoy the culture beyond the tourist traps; we want to make sure you experience the real Austin!
We have been hosting our apartment/dwelling for two years now (est. April 2014) and have really enjoyed meeting so many wonderful travelers over this time. We take a lot of pride in hosting our guests and like to welcome you as if you were our own family! We often pick up on how our guests want to interact: do you want to engage in conversation or keep to yourself? With hosting for two years and having numerous guests throughout the time, we feel we've been pretty good on picking up the vibe. :) Most importantly, we know that you look back on vacations and it's all about the experience you had. We are elated to help you plan your trip; Please ask us if you so need recommendations! We look forward to having you and are always just a message away should you need anything.
Life motto: Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
