About this listing

A beautiful space in the middle of a chestnuts forest, in Monte Amiata, Tuscany, surrounded by nature and history.
Situated between Castel del Piano and Seggiano, in the valley named Conca d'Oro, really nearby Val D'Orcia.
The room is part of an ancient and traditional restored stone cottage with a huge history of storing and drying chestnuts in the past, long time ago...

The space

Terra delle Sidhe is a small organic farm located in southern Tuscany overlooking a beautiful valley located on the slopes of Monte Amiata, between the two most important medieval towns named Castel del Piano and Seggiano.

The landscape has the peculiarity of a typical natural forest and the diversified productivity typical of organic farms.

The estate is spread over three acres of chestnut trees, IGP marroni Amiata, a precious olive variety of DOP Olivastra Seggianese and cherry trees over a hundred years old.

A rich variety of fruit trees, medicinal plants, a biodynamic garden, chestnut flour, extra virgin olive oil, natural soaps, delicious teas and jams complete the range of organic products produced on our farm.

Guest access

Excellent free internet connexion.
The common areas are the kitchen and the living room, and the huge garden outside, in case the other room is also booked you should share the only bathroom we have in the house.
In winter we hit the house with two nice fireplaces, using our precious wood that comes from the forest.

Interaction with guests

We like people and share in a genuine way involving people in our daily activities in the farm, so our guests are welcome to participate and enjoy us in a natural and authentic atmosphere.

Luisa made our stay absolutely unique :) Mesmerising views on the valley, tasteful decoration in the cottage, the most comfortable bed ever, friendly pets and glimpses of fawns along with the surrounding chestnut, olive and cherry trees are indeed the very strengths of this awesome place. Not to mention Luisa herself :) she made us feel at home away from home :) We loved it so much that we are already planning on going back there in autumn to enjoy the chestnuts season!

Staying at a home farm was such a pleasure after a few days in Florence and Chianti. Luisa's home is a special and unique place and although a little more challenging to find than some places, well worth the effort. The wild rugged beauty of the Val d'orcia is a unique experience. Luisa is a kind and warm hearted person and an excellent host. We would highly recommend her place.

Luisa's home is a refuge, a place of peace and beauty. The bedroom has a window with a beautiful view that I left open day and night. The bed is super comfortable. The tap water is delicious and comes from a natural spring. I found it very hard to leave. The worst was having to say goodby to her lovely cats who ars the most sweet and loving cats imaginable. Luisa herself was incredibly kind and generous. I only met her for a few hours before she had to leave on a trip but I hope I can return and get to know her better. She's one of those people you instantly like. By all means stay here if you get the chance.

From the moment I arrived until the morning we said goodbye, Luisa truly made me feel at home. She is a friendly and generous host, attentive to meeting the needs of her guests, yet respectful of their privacy. I thoroughly enjoyed my one week stay in the beautiful stone cottage this winter and definitely plan to return. In this short time, I collected many fond memories of this special place: moments of peaceful solitude, invigorating walks amongst chestnut trees and volcanic rock boulders, the cosy warmth of fireplaces, tasty dinners, laughter and the good company of local residents.

You can get info about adorable Luisa and her also adorable place within the other comments, but let me tell you about her cute cats and dogs. Romeu and Julieta are the cats. Sweet ones. I didn't get to know the name of the dogs, but there's a grey and a white one. The grey showed up a little bit shy with us, but the white one was always around, even on rainy days. And preferred cuddles before his treats. Yes... I've spoilt them. I brought bio treats from Brazil to give them when possible to make friendship and it worked. I couldn't wait for more adorable pets than those ones. They are really, really cute and respectful. Luisa trained them really well. And when we were leaving, Romeo tryed to jump inside our car. Isn't he lovely? Such a charming way to say he also enjoyed our stay! I almost took him with me. Lol. Luisa, I only can thank you for the adorable days at your place. Really loved it!

We stayed in the stone cottage which is next to the wooden house with another couple, Whitney and Darren who rent there more permanently. They were very kind and helpful and added to our experience. We originally had booked the place for 9 nights but decided to stay 12 as it was a truly great place. Luisa made us feel welcome from the beginning and was a great host. The place is beautiful with everything you need. Close enough to shops to get groceries or eat out but far away enough that you feel like your part of nature. Close to the river for a swim or sit and relax in the chestnut forest on the property for a relaxing picnic- it's amazing and you will not regret staying here.

Luisa is a dream of a host. As we arrived by bus, she offered to pick us up in Castel del Piano, and immediately we felt welcome as on visiting friends. She is a very cordial, open, helpful and flexible host who perfectly manages the line of interaction that you need - with great level of attention but absolutely no forced interaction. I would dare to say that the place is even more beautiful than in the pictures. The valley location in Spring is very calm and natural and invites for walks or explorations of the nearby villages. The property is very well equipped even with a dish-washer and a gas-stove, the kitchen has everything so you can start right away, the wood house is full of light facing south. The small, sunny terrace invited us often to read or contemplate over the view of the valley and the surrounding hills. Luisa's two dogs and cats instantly became our friends - following our invite to stay around the house. Attention to detail (e.g. flowers on the table) and a great choice in quality utensils made us feel at home and sorry to leave.
