Description

The space

Let yourself be enchanted by the spacious loft in the Old Bakery. The 4.20 m high rooms are pleasantly bright thanks to the generous window surfaces and are equipped with real wood parquet and underfloor heating. In the cooler months, a design gas fireplace spreads a cozy ambience (use for a fee). The untreated concrete wall in plasterboard and the hundred-year-old original clinker, some of which are provided with paint brushing, ensure a special charm.

The bathroom is accessible from the hallway and is equipped with a walk-in shower with light gray glass mosaic tiles, rain and hand shower as well as design bathroom ceramics. All fittings are custom-made.

HISTORY:
Since 1905 bread was baked in the Old Baker's House. In GDR times an autowerkstatt, the small yellow clinker building decayed in the Nachwendezeit. Only in 2006 the building was literally saved at the last minute before the demolition and lovingly, while preserving the old fabric, converted into a single-family home. After the demolition of the front house, the old bakery was expanded by a purist, generously glazed cultivation, and the property was demarcated to the road with a high clinker wall. The redevelopment of the industrial building, which was designed to meet the needs of the town, was honored with a praiseworthy award at the Hieronymus Lotter Prize for the Preservation of Historic Monuments of the City of Leipzig.

"AND ACTION!":
... this is often said in the Old Bakery. Not least because of its architectural versatility the old brick building with its modern cultivation is a popular shooting and film location and was for example a backdrop for various photo- and television productions, including "crime Scene", "in all friendship", "Dr. Mertens", "family with obstacles" and others).

Guest access

High quality boxspring bed (queen size) with two pillows per person for restful sleep. Additional sleeping possibility (1,40 x 2,00) for the 3rd and 4th person on a sleeping sofa in the "media area". (The window there can not be darkened!) A guest mattress (90 x 200) can be made available for additional persons if required or on requestI

MPORTANT:
When booking two persons, but want to sleep separately, we ask for previous consultation or information !!!

Tasteful decor. Mobile design pantry kitchen kitcase with fridge and freezer, double cooker, toaster, water cooker, etc .. Water supply over canister. The preparation of smaller meals is easily possible. Want a fresh coffee or tea? Brewing machine with capsules as well as various teas available. Hand, shower and kitchen towels are provided. Hairdryer, toilet paper and shower gel are also provided. Comfortable seating for the lounge furniture on the private terrace. Free parking on request.

Interaction with guests

EXPLANATION:
This is an "original" loft in an industrial building , ie one space, even if it is divided into different areas . Only the bathroom is separate, with door . This part of the old brick house is one-storey , access at ground level.

IMPORTANT:
The CHECK-OUT is at noon (12:00 o' clock), so that even late risers do not have to be in a hurry on the day of departure. However, we also need time to prepare loft and garden for the next guests. Please vacate the loft on the day of departure definitely at 12:00 noon the latest. Late check-out can be on availbility until 16:00. For this we charge an additional 40,00 Euro. We ask for your understanding.

Host Christine was great. Beautiful house. Close to train which is 10 mins from the city. Bunny rabbits were roaming around the garden during the day, so cute! Access to bathroom is via shared access area, which we found a little annoying as we didn't bring bath robes. There were no blinds on bedroom window so bring an eye mask. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Leipzig - would love to have planned an evening in front of the TV with the fire on!

Response from Christine:
The entrance area belongs directly to the loft and is separate. Two bathrobes are provided in the wardrobe. The large windows can not be completely darkened - this is clearly indicated in the descripption. The towels of organic cotton are new and also in sufficient number available. Dear Evelyn, dear Andrew, why did not you search the direct conversation? I share my home with my guests - huge 100 square meters for only 69 Euros including all additional costs. Annoying for me, if guests then consistently ignore the house rules and behave as if they check-in at the Ritz Carlton.

We enjoyed our stay with Christine very much. The apartment was beautiful, light bright and modern. We were very comfortable indeed. Christine was an excellent host and was available to answer any questions and give advice. We were able to travel easily using the trams which were frequent and accessible. The timetable was very accurate. If you want to be outside the city this is a great compromise. Take a walking tour of the city centre which also offers a hour long bus tour of the main attractions and you get a good idea of life in Leipzig. You must experience the Leipzig orchestra in its own splendid concert hall and the choir at St Thomas Church. The city is under going a huge amount of rebuilding and growth and modernisation. There is music of every kind and sports available in the red bull arena so look up before you go. When you arrive there is a local Aldi and a few local restaurants one street away.

Everything was perfect and Christine was very welcoming - even though I arrived late in the evening. The place itself is great and has plenty of space - you won't need to rush out on a morning. There's nothing I would change. Will definitely be back!

Christine's apartment is amazing, the design is beautiful with a lot of attention to detail, and it's really a special and unusual place to stay! In addition, it is very spacious, conveniently located just a few steps from the tram, and Christine was a very friendly and helpful host. I absolutely enjoyed my stay here - highly recommended!

Christine's apartment is unusual, stylish and large, with a beautiful garden and lovely big friendly dog. The bed is super-comfortable, and the TV was great, really new! Everything is clean and tidy. We loved having the space and Christine kindly let my daughter, who lives in Leipzig, stay there too most nights. It is 2 minutes from the tram stop which takes you to the centre of town. It isn't a place to be making elaborate meals, as the kitchen facilities are limited, but luckily we don't go on holiday to cook! There are lots of nice places to eat in Leipzig, and I would recommend the city and this charming apartment.
