We could not have asked for a better place to stay in Barcelona! The apartment was beautiful and clean with all the amenities. The rooftop terrace is a real treat to have in a big city. The location is fantastic, with great bars and restaurants, the beach, the metro and train stations all within walking distance. Aodhan is really helpful and has lots of great tips on places to eat and things to do. We had a great time!

4 of us stayed for three nights, the host was very helpful in pointing out the best places to eat in the area. The apartment itself is very nice, tidy and clean throughout plus it has a a large terrace to enjoy - on top if this it is in one of the best locations to enjoy many aspects of Barcelona. Would strongly recommend to anyone.

It's hard to know where to start; we had such a perfect experience in Aidan's wonderful apartment and with Aidan himself. As usual, we had travel mishaps that Aidan handled with great flexibility. To say that we loved the place would be an understatement, it is all the photos suggest and more. We were three people--my ex, myself, and my daughter, who is studying in Madrid right now. None of us had been to Barcelona before, and besides falling in love with the city, we fell in love with the apartment--had all our breakfasts on the terrace, were amazed at how comfortable the beds were, not to mention the ample closet space. Aidan recommended several outstanding restaurants; his bookshelf is loaded with fascinating materials; the location was outstanding, being so close to Born and the beach and lots of transportation options. We ended up with front row seats for the Barcelona marathon AND a Sunday flea market in the train station across the street--two things that were not on our "to do" list but we had these fun experiences anyway. I'd recommend the place to anyone, and Aidan is an exceptional host, whose enthusiasm for his adopted city means he knows so much that you can't find in guidebooks. Five stars!

I cannot imagine a more perfect place to stay in Barcelona! From the moment we arrived, we felt at home in this welcoming apartment, further enhanced by Aodhan's hospitality and concern for the comfort and enjoyment of his guests. The location and amenities are most impressive. This was my first experience with a vacation rental, as opposed to a hotel, and I will not hesitate to do this again.. Aodhan has set a very high standard - reserve his apartment with confidence and security.

We stayed at Aidan's apartment for 5 nights and had the best time ever. Aidan is really a super host. He was very accommodating and kept checking in every couple of days to see if we needed anything and to make sure everything was good. The apartment itself is beautiful with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was perfect for us (2 couples). Both bedrooms are facing the back which makes them very quiet and relaxing. The living room is a very nice size with a large dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. And the terrace was a real treat with views to the Ciutadella park and the beautiful train station. The location was also amazing in the El Born district which is a beautiful trendy neighborhood with beautiful pedestrian streets, the park and within a walking distance to the Gothic district, the Ramblas the beach, the most beautiful markets and pretty much everything this amazing city has to offer. Aidan, we had an amazing time and we will be back (hopefully soon). Thank you for everything!

We stayed at Aidan's flat for 4 nights in March 2012. The flat is really amazing - especially we liked the terrace, of course where we had our breakfasts with food from Boqueria market. The location is really perfect. I wouldn't eant another. And Aidan is a very hospitable host. Thanks!

Aidan's apartment in the Born district was perfect for us -- my husband and I were visiting our daughter who is studying in Barcelona and she joined us for a few nights. We were able to cook a nice dinner with her friends one evening which was really enjoyable. The apartment allowed us to have a nice respite in the city and easy access to everything -- great restaurants and bars right nearby in the Born. The terrace is an amazing spot and perfect for a glass of wine after a day of touring. Parc Ciutadella down the block is beautiful, beach is 5 minutes away. Aidan is a gracious, friendly host with great recommendations for dinner, etc. Barcelona is a bustling, crazy town day and night, and we are so glad we stayed here.

Excellent stay in Barcelona. Grear appartment, nice neigbourhood. When the weather is good, you are able to have breakfast in the morning sun, super.

I had three main issues with your property: 1. Shower: The owner made it sound like there might be a problem with the tub that makes the water leak if used a lot. The problem, infact, is actually due to the shower curtain. Because the curtain does not go full circle, water tended to leak from both sides of the tub, which created a bit of a mess in the bathroom area. This has to be by far the most uncomfortable part of the property, including the fact that anyone in the property across from yours could openly see the shower. I think this problem could have been diagnosed by a new shower curtain. 2. Fan: The first night was relatively fine as the evening was a bit cooler as it had rained earlier that day. However, for the other days, it did get a little uncomfortable due to heat. I would have been fine if at least the fan in the room had worked but that did not. 3. Bed: This is nothing personal but just a suggestion. If you ever do put this property on airbnb (or anywhere else), I would suggest that you put the bed size, which can accommodate a couple at most, but not two grown up men. Apart from these, the location was great and the general feel of the apartment great. View host response

We had a really enjoyable few days in Barcelona, Aodhan gave us some real good advice when we first met him about places to go and things to do. There were some guide books in the apartment which we read during siesta times and planned the next area to explore. The location of the apartment was perfect, easy walking to all the main sights, plenty of bars and restaurants close by and we felt safe walking in the area at night. Metro station is just few minutes walk away and there are plenty of taxis day and night in the same area. Bed was comfortable, bath was heaven, washing machine useful , kitchen was well equipt and it was great to have our own little garden haven. It is a ground floor apartment in a shared building so there is a little street noise and occasional comings and goings by other residents but nothing excessive. All in all a good place to base yourselves to explore the city - we would return here in the future.

This apartment is located within walking distance of the heart of the Old City and was easy walking distance to many sites of interest. It was very clean and spacious. The lovely garden and a good fan made up for the lack of air conditioning, since we visited during a particularly warm and humid time. Aodhan met us promptly and gave us a good insight on places to see, eat and enjoy. He also provided advice on how to best protect ourselves from Barcelona's noteworthy pickpocketing and bag snatching problem. Wi-fi was much appreciated.

Great location near Arc De Triomf (train station) and walk-able to El Bron which is a beautiful area with lots of boutique shops and restaurants. The apartment is clean, nice and airy, was clean and tastefully done up. The garden was beautiful. Aidan was a great host and explained little bits and pieces about safety and directions in BCN, very helpful. The bathroom has some problems since the shower area tends to leak out to the rest of it. It can get noisy for light sleepers at night with all the activity in the area (we were fine, we are from India :-))

This is probably my favorite place that I've ever stayed, anywhere. It is so bright and clean and beautiful. And affordable! The bathtub was my very favorite part. It is extra long and deep and perfect for soaking after biking or strolling around Barcelona all day. I recommend this apartment and its host so very much.

We stayed in Aidan's gorgeous garden flat for five nights in September and absolutely loved it. The location is the best in Barcelona, in my opinion - close to everything that El Born has to offer. I was a bit worried about the lack of air con as the day we checked in was very hot but we just opened all the windows and the garden doors and it was just fine. We simply loved the garden. It was a wonderful place to retreat and recharge after a long day exploring the city. The price of the apartment is worth it for the garden alone. Aidan was a great host who bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable. Look up his recommendation - every single one was gold!!

Aodhan's apartment is a dream. Central location, full kitchen, and AC. What the pictures don't really capture is how great the terrace is - stunning view of Barcelona, and beach within a short walk. Worth the extra money. Aodhan himself was gracious and helpful, picking us up at the bus station, and letting us even hold our bags at his house between stays. Above and beyond the call of duty. Great experience!

The place is simply neat, and rooftop a pleasure. Lot of nice plants, area is great (trendy and quiet). Some small things in the appartment could improved or better decorated, but it was a great place.

I spent 4 days with my girlfriend in Aodhan's apartment and everything was perfect: - Location: ideal because it's close from the different touristic places and at the same time the area is very quiet. The neighborhood is very attractive with lots of good restaurants ans places to go out, and completely safe! - Apartment: it's completely equipped, clean, and in excellent condition. There is a great and big terrace with good views. - Host: very kind, welcoming and he knows the city very well so he will give you lots of good tips and places to go depending on what you want to do. I definitely recommend and thanks again Aodhan!

Aodhan and Rocco, this duo rocks! My trip coudn't be better without both of them. I stayed in his place for three great days. His apartment is in a lovely area of Barcelona (El Born), close of the beach and a beautiful park. It's looks modern and is very clean, and Aidan has a wonderful collection of films for cinema lovers like me. The bedroom is cosy and has everything that a guest need to feel at home, even an air conditioning, so essential in the hot Barcelona days. Aodhan is an attentive host ang gave me a lot of tips to get around in the city and enjoy it in the best way. He even took me to a special local restaurant, small and unobtrusive, but with a delicius food. A place that I would never have found by myself. We share other great times together and I felt grateful to hear his stories of life, always rich in experiences, very inspiring. And what about Rocco, for sure you'll fall in love for him. He is well-behaved and uber cute. We went out for a night walking and was impossible to avoid the curious people who stopped us to feel the soft and well cared Rocco's hair. Aodhan and Rocco, thanks for the warm hospitality and friendship.

I had the pleasure of staying with Aodhan and Rocco for 2 months during my travels last summer. The moment I put my bags down I felt at home. I have never been greeted with such hospitality. A clean and cozy apartment awaited me overlooking the beautiful Avinguda Del Marquès De L'Argentera. It was moments away form Park Ciutadella, around the corner from El Born's many fabulous restaurants, bars, and shops, a short walk from the beach and so much more! On top of being a wonderful host and amazing cook, Aodhan was like an open book to all the best eats, drinks, sites, and beaches Barcelona had to offer. There is nothing like traveling like a local! I would recommend Casa Aodhan to anyone looking for an awesome stay in BCN!

I had the pleasure of spending 2 months of my gap year (2007) sharing Aidan´s apartment. He is not a good host, he is great. Made me feel completely at home and soon became a good friend. I had complete privacy during my stay but felt he was there for me if I needed. Apart from being an amazing flatmate, the apartment is fantastic! Aidan has great taste and is an excellent cook.
