An historic mansion house in conservation village is only 2 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland. This is a family run establishment in a spaciousm 400 year old house. The rooms are very spacious and have either en suite or private bathrooms. The rooms on offer are flexible and can sleep from singles to families of four.

For those with an interest in history, Oliver Cromwell stayed here in 1650. The gardens have the remains of a Roman bath house and it is believed by historians that the site housed an inn in 150 A.D. Alice and John Chute offer a friendly environment and are very helpful offering information on what to do, how to get where you want to be and where to eat. It is a house filled with music and art and the 3 acres grounds offer a peaceful place to retreat. John has 3 wild pheasants in the garden whom he hand feeds.

We were quite blown away by the beauty of the place upon arriving, the pictures don't even do it justice. Alice and John welcomed us even though our arrival was quite late in the evening. John even took us to a pub after we dropped off our bags, with his car. Really nice stay, with a really nice and relaxed breakfast. Would definitely like to come back!

Lovely place to stay. Great accomadations. Needed room for 9 and this was perfect. Peaceful, quiet, away from city center but easy access. Bed were fantastic, slept like a bab. Will return.

Myself and some other members of the Airbnb team were so lucky to be able to experience a stay with Alice and her lovely husband John. Even though we arrived a bit late, they opened the doors with big smiles and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast and neither of them were ever more than a foot away when we needed anything from a warm cup of tea to directions into town (it's very close to the city center). With Roman ruins in the front yard, acres of forest to walk through, and the most comfortable beds we have yet to sleep in - this place has it all. Laying in the grass looking up at this magnificent home built in 1596, we felt blanketed in history and certainly did not want to leave. The good news? We will be back again, and hopefully sooner rather than later!
