Hello!

Now then, first things first. My calendar and pricing are totally up to date so please feel free to go ahead and book. Just submit your booking request and I'll respond straight away; I accept booking requests in the order they come in.

About 20 minutes walk from the Tower of London & Tower Bridge, an excellent modern penthouse with fantastic views of London, Canary Wharf and even the Thames. Furnished in a fun combination of modern and retro style from the 1950s to the 21st century; Arkana, Conran, Kartell, Habitat, Tomado, McIntosh, Aram, Starck and the obligatory smattering of IKEA.

Two double bedrooms each with own bathroom. Two huge roof terraces, both with outdoor table and one with barbecue. Nice living room with TV/DVD player and plenty of films, from Alfred Hitchcock to Zoolander and much more in between; comedy, sci-fi, thrillers, Pixar, etc, etc . Lots of music to play as well; I have very large CD collection so enjoy it all and be kind to the discs.

There is also a single airbed for a 5th guest (please do not sleep on the couch); you can put the airbed in either the living room or the main bedroom.

Children do count as people so please make sure you put the correct figure in the 'number of guests' box.

You can plug your laptop/mp3 player into the hi-fi if you'd like to hear your own music through the speakers. All leads provided.

Fully fitted kitchen with oven, hob, hood, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and many pots, pans, plates, food processor, smoothie maker... 1970s radio set to BBC Radio 4 which has the best art, comedy, discussion, news and radio plays.

The apartment is a great place to be at home and easy to get into and around London. It's very quiet; being so high up there is no traffic noise, just lots of sky to look at. It's my home when I'm in London so please look after it.

Generally my father will meet you for check in/out, although you may strike lucky and get me!

For your arrival there will be milk and OJ in the fridge plus coffee, muffins, apples and bananas.

Once you've booked I'll email a user manual for the apartment to make your stay really easy; it also includes my favourite places to hang out and be cultured in London. And there's a hard copy in the apartment.

Airbnb will collect a cleaning charge of £40 with your booking and this ensures all guests get a freshly cleaned apartment, fresh bedding and 2 fresh towels per guest.

I hope that gives a really clear impression of everything but please let me know if you have any questions.

Transport journey times:

Less than 10 mins walk to Shadwell & Limehouse stations.

6 mins to Canary Wharf

14 mins to Greenwich (London's maritime history)

17 mins to City Airport

17 mins to St Pancras Eurostar

16 mins by tube to to West End (Oxford Circus, Covent Garden, Soho, etc)

Neighbourhoods:

20 mins walk to Brick Lane (the hippest, most happening scene in London)

There's a lot of art going on in surrounding Whitechapel, Mile End, Bethnal Green, Spitalfields, Bow, etc. Much of it off-beat and a bit 'hidden London'. If you're here on the first Thursday of any month, you're in for an extra treat as all the galleries around me open until late at night.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Paul's flat. It was very clean and comfortable. The location was fine--a short walk to the Shadwell station and a few stops on the Underground got us to everywhere we wanted to go. Paul and his father were very helpful.

  • a lovely and welcoming place to stay for the marathon! much thanks to paul for communicating at every hour when needed :) his dad was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed in this funky place - little touches like orangejuice, fruit and muffins and a really relaxing place to stay in, having a drink and watching the views at night, fab shower in ensuite and red hot water which was great!

  • Great location, terrific apartment, especially for a family.

  • Spending a week in london, I did not want to stay at yet another hotel. Paul's place was clean, well kept and a pleasure to live in while needing to split my time between traveling to Westminster bridge area dn Excel. Paul's place is right in the middle an easywalk from the DLR station Shadwell and Limehouse. Also discovered a terrific local restaurant with some of the most incredible Pakistani food called Lahore Kebab House on 2 Umberston Street E1 1PY. When I need to be at Excel, I would certianly return. Thank you Paul to you and your Dad for your hospitality in letting me use your home.

  • First airbnb experience and what shall I say, it was absolutely great. Wonderful and cool furnished apartment with unbelievable and amazing views. Just perfect for our girls weekend in London. We were lucky and even enjoyed the sun terrace for a couple of hours at 18°C in February. We always took the bus (just 2 min walk) into town even though it takes quite a while, but as it goes directly to Regent Street it is just perfect for shopping and also at nights, because it runs as a nightline aswell (N15). Thanks to Paul (via email) and his father John(in person), who are both very nice, hospitable and absolutely helpful indeed. Danke schön!! :-)

  • Great stay at this location. The view from both the terraces are breathtaking, especially at night. Nice appartment with plenty of space. In the preparation Paul and his father really makes you feel at home away from home. Great location to visit London since it is a short walk to Shadwell station on the DLR and from there the whole of London can be reached easily

  • Beautiful apartment and a very hospitable host, couldn't recommend it enough.

  • Paul's father was very welcoming & helpful seeing us in to the apartment. Not much time spent at the place but this is a great pad. Nice and clean with great views out East AND West. Many thanks, Paul.

Paul has an incredibly lovely 2 bed room apartment that is very close to the main attractions in London. Right from the start, Paul maintained very good communications with us by sending us a truly informative document of what is in his apartment, how to use his equipment, and the attractions and how to get about London from his space. Getting to Paul's apartment from the airport is a bit of a trek though, as you'll have to make two transfers, and then about a 10 minute walk, but its nothing that can't be done. Just don't do it during rush hour, and you should be fine. His apartment has all the modern amenities and a few bonus ones besides. He's got two bathrooms, which is absolutely great for 2 couples, and a very modern kitchen, that's fully furnished. He's got cutlery for 4, as well as plates and dishes, so if you've got the hankering to cook, you can. He's even got a dishwasher so you can just put your plates in and let the machines do the washing. A truly comfortable place to stay while you're visiting london, and not too far from the sights either. Just bear in mind, that you're only 1 minute away from a bus stop and 10 minutes away from the nearest subway stop, so if you're feeling brave, taking the bus to the attractions might actually be a much faster way of getting around. There's also probably one or two of the best Indian restaurants near Paul's place and a Gordon Ramsay "pub-style" food restaurant, plus a smattering of chicken places, so you should eat pretty well. I didn't meet Paul while I was in London, but I got to meet his father instead, and he was a fine gentleman, making sure we were well situated before leaving us. All in all, I highly recommend this location, but please do your research about your transportation options and use the buses. They're really quite convenient and can be even faster than the tube once you account for the 10 minute walk to the nearest tube. Often times it can be cheaper as well, and you'll get the slightly more scenic option.
