Sunset Beach Surf Cabin

The Sunset surf cabin is amazing to say the least. The views are incredible and the cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hosts are polite, friendly, helpful and easy going. The cabin is private and very peaceful. I highly recommend staying here.

I highly recommend the surf cabin and all the accommodations on John & Elizabeth's property. Our stay here was idyllic. Gorgeous Sunset Beach is just a short stroll from the property, and from the deck of the surf cabin we were able to watch the Big Waves, the surfers, and all the action. This property is a great place for an introspective, relaxing, laid back vacation. The yoga deck is a perfect place to practice, meditate, and enjoy being outdoors! However, the best part of our stay had to be our gracious hosts and everyone we met. John & Elizabeth did everything they could to make us feel welcome and to share their knowledge of the North Shore. They will make your visit comfortable and memorable. This cabin was just what wanted for our vacation. We had spent time in Honolulu for work conferences and were taking a few extra days to relax on the other side of the island. The area was so quiet and peaceful. We loved being tucked into the ridge and having a marvelous vista from our cabin. John was so helpful and we felt very much at home. We miss it terribly!

Beautiful, relaxing location. Perfect for a quiet getaway on the North Shore. The views from the porch are stunning, and we enjoyed looking out over Sunset Beach while we drank our morning coffee. John and his son were both good people and friendly hosts. We took their bikes out for a ride down to Haleiwa town, borrowed a surfboard, and took a surf lesson from Doug, a longtime friend of John's. We highly recommend the Surf Cabin.

Our stay at the Surf Cabin was a pleasant change from our few days in Waikiki. It is a pretty outdoorsy feeling here, which took a little while to get used to. For example several of the windows were just screens, so air is always flowing through the rooms and big ants (didnt bite) keeping us company. But it was very clean and well-appointed and by the end of our stay, we really didn't want to leave. The deck with a view is a highlight. It is only a few blocks from a nice beach, and we had a great time taking the 10 minute drive into town (Haleiwa) for food (shrimp trucks and bakeries), shave ice and ice cream. Also there is an amazing bakery walking distance from the house. Most of the beaches around the property are awesome surfing beaches, so if you surf (we don't), it seems like the perfect location. I got a glimpse of the other places to stay on the property, and they look really fun and unique too. It's basically the opposite of staying in a posh hotel, so if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind experience in the north shore, I recommend it. Also, John was a great host, paying attention to our needs and keeping in touch whenever we needed to ask something.

John and Elizabeth have an amazing property and were very helpful and easygoing. Highly recommended!

A very nice way to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the rural Hawaii. Clean, with all the amenities, yet open and outside feel. We will stay again.

The Temple Treehouse exactly captured what I was looking for on the North Shore....a peaceful and serene place to begin leisurely mornings and to lay my head after lazy days in the sun. Highly recommend "The Temple" for its open-air setting and green surroundings and its creator, John, who was a great host, sharing his love of yoga and the beauty of Hawaii.

The Treehouse was an awesome experience, We enjoyed the property & the view. Everything was very easy.

This location is trully one of a kind. Situated on the hill minutes away from the beach and with the most incredible views you could think of. It could have easily been featured in a magazine stated: most romantic and special places to sleep. We loved it up there. John is really helpfull and gave us some good tips wich led us to spend the day on a deserted beach surround with turtles! We would highly recommed this place and try to stay as long as possible!

Great place in a great location.. Tropical paradise. John was very nice and was happy to help in any way. Walk to some of the best beaches in the world. My pics of this experience will makes friends jealous for years to come

This place is magnificent. We actually got to stay in the Temple, which is a bit bigger, but right next door. John is a kind fellow and gave us some great leads on Surf lessons and other local spots to check out. The vibe was casual, clean, comfortable and easy. If you are looking for a special experience that is away from all that Waikiki nonsense, then look no further.

John and Elizabeth were really great and the Treehouse was incredible. My wife and I spent nearly a week on their beautiful, lush property enjoying the perfect views of the ocean (you can see two of the best breaks on the island from the deck) and listening to the birds. Everything was clean and comfortable and it was great having a kitchen to cook meals in. John even took us surfing in Haleiwa and showed us a nice spot for beginners. We will definitely stay with them again the next time we find ourselves on Oahu.

Der Aufenthalt in Johns Treehouse war so wie er besser nicht hätte sein können! Das Treehouse war ein Traum und ist genau wie auf den Bildern und der Beschreibung angegeben. Ich war zwei Nächte mit meinem Freund dort und drei Nächte alleine. Einen Grund sich unsicher zu fühlen gab es nicht! Die Gegend ist ein Traum und ich bin mir sicher, wer einmal dort war möchte nicht wieder abreisen! Es war traumhaft zum Sonnenuntergang auf der Terasse zu sitzen und die Sonne im Meer versinken zu sehen. Zum Einschlafen und zum Aufstehen hat man das Meer gehört, bevor man es gesehen hat. Einfach perfekt! Wir hatten die Möglichkeit uns Fahrräder und Surfboards von John zu leihen, um so die Umgebung abzufahren und die Wellen auszukundschaften. Meinen letzten Tag machte John perfekt! Es startete mit Yoga und Chai Tee zum Sonnenaufgang, gefolgt von einem selbstgemachten Smoothie mit Früchten aus dem eigenen Garten, einer Runde surfen und einem leckeren Mittagessen. Er war so ein herzlicher Gastgeber und wenn ich gekonnt hätte, wäre ich noch viiiieeel länger dort geblieben! Es ist ein Ort der viel Ruhe ausstrahlt und Johns, wie auch Peters (der Hund) positive Energie und Ausgeglichenheit springt sofort auf einen über. Ich bin nicht die Person dei gerne zwei mal an den selben Ort fährt, da die Welt so groß ist und es soviel zu entdecken gibt, aber dort werde ich auf jeden Fall hin zurückgehen! Danke für diese grandiose Zeit und die positive Aura. :-)

The cottage on the hill was a lovely retreat from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. It really was like staying in a tree house. While it was small, the cottage was a thousand times better than any hotel room, with many thoughtful touches. John was a gracious host, and even let us borrow his bikes to explore Sunset Beach.

I stayed with John and Elizabeth on the North Shore and it was by far, the BEST vacation experience. Their place at Sunset Beach was a dream, and they were so helpful and accommodating that I was just about ready to quit my job and stay forever. Honestly, you could not possibly find nicer people, a more beautiful place, or a more glorious paradise anywhere else. A truly wonderful experience -- absolutely perfect! I can't wait to go back!
