Wonderful place to stay! We were there four nights. The guesthouse is an astoundingly beautiful building with a large, ocean view lanai that has tables to work or eat at, a large daybed and many chairs for lounging . Gorgeous houseplants and flowers indoors and out. We also loved the hot tub and the outdoor showers. Hosts are very committed to the comfort of their guests. Lovely breakfasts, towels where you need them, beach gear to borrow, lots of help with the logistics of visiting the area. We would return in a heartbeat.

I am not one to write reviews, but this place is awesome and exactly what it professes to be. They say first impressions are everything and it definitely is the case here. Whether it was the beautiful front entrance, the beautiful, bright smile of our hostess, Hannah, the fresh squeezed mango juice, or finally the smell of the chocolate cake she just got out of the oven, we were hooked. We had to change rooms mid-stay so got to experience two rooms there and they were great. They made the process easy as could be and got to experience both a mountain view and ocean view. Don't pass up the outdoor shower, especially at night! Showering under the moon and stars was an experience. We will be back!

What an incredible experience! The plantation house is exquisite, with spectacular views, everything we needed for our outings around the island (beach towels, chairs, coolers, local maps and insider tips!), and truly amazing breakfasts (egg bakes, pancakes, kona coffee, smoothies and piles of fresh fruit from the plantation). The hospitality of Greg, Michael, Hannah and Jackie made this an especially wonderful vacation. We can't wait to come back!

Everything was fantastic--the house, the lanai, the view, the outdoor shower, hot tub and on and on. Hannah was our very welcoming host as we checked in, and Michael served a wonderful breakfast. The whole experience was charming and relaxing--great for a quiet night on the Big Island. Seems like it would be the perfect place for a romantic getaway, but for me, it was a rest stop in the middle of the fun and adventure of the island. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing! The view is absolutely stunning and the house and the hosts are all very welcoming. We were provided with fresh fruit and baking upon arrival, plied with breakfast every morning and clean beach towels every day. The house was a lovely place to relax, with lots of different spaces to sit and enjoy the view without getting in the way of any other guests. The only downside was the driveway - it's very steep! I'd 100% recommend staying here and I hope to return one day soon. Thank you for the lovely time.

We had a magical time staying at Ka'awa Loa. We were blown away by the charm of the house and the grounds- Michael and Greg do such a wonderful job. We enjoyed the fresh fruit and coffee grown on the plantation, and got great recommendations of things to do nearby. We didn't have much of a plan when we arrived, but thanks to Michael and Greg, we really experienced the area to the fullest. Highly recommend!

Let me first say that we arrived later in the day, around 9pm. Our arrival was in the dark so we didn't get the full scope of the house or the property. A note was left for us with instructions for our room along with fresh juice and pineapple upside down cake in the kitchen. Both amazing! When we woke up we were greeted by Michael who was beyond hospitable and had coffee brewed from the plantation coffee plants waiting for us. Then we discovered the property....absolutely amazing! We drank our coffee from the wrap around lanai which looked down the mountain and to the ocean. I cannot describe in words how wonderful the view was. Then there is the hot tub overlooking the same view and the lava rock outdoor showers! Just when we thought it couldn't get better, Michael made pineapple macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup... If you like beautiful views, delicious food and meeting other travelers then this is definitely the place for you!!
