A little off the beaten path, but a great spot to rest after taking in the sights and sounds of the Little Norway Festival in May, the Rainforest Festival in September or even the fun of julebukking with the locals at Christmas!
Experience a QUIET, peaceful spot with your own private water view, deck and entrance. Your room looks out over boats and wildlife along Alaska's Inside Passage and Kupreanof Island. We've seen deer, eagles, Canada geese, Sandhill cranes, hummingbirds, seals, black bear and more, from our deck. Furnished with a double bed, nightstand, full-sized closet for storage and mirror.
The smaller back bedroom has a comfy twin bed with Suzani pattern comforter and a memory foam topper, a desk/chair and view into the forest beyond the house. Both rooms are down their own hallway, providing additional privacy and separation from the rest of the house. The bathroom is just off the kitchen, for your exclusive use, and has both bathtub and shower. Spa robes are provided!
This is a GREAT spot to beach walk, birdwatch, photograph wildlife and scenery, or just sit out on your deck with a glass of wine. Bring a bike, a kayak or bring a book or we can share. There is also a small DVD library available for your use, if you just want to relax and soak in the view. In the summer we have a large and vibrant garden that attracts birds, a quirky squirrel and deer.
You are welcomed to enjoy the cedar sauna off the main deck. When we are overflowing with guests, the sauna has even served as a rustic cabin!
We are 10 miles from downtown Petersburg, accessible by paved highway (a 17 minute drive). Wrangell is located on a nearby island, and accessible only by boat or plane from here, but has some good recreation opportunities as well. Guests have said they love the quiet and the house, and have used our location for both work and play in Petersburg.
Cell phones do not always work at the house (we're down on the water) but we do have wireless internet available, and you may use our landline for local or calling card calls. It is possible to get here by bike and rental cars are available in town. There are also taxi services in Petersburg. We look forward to having you as a guest!
