A Piece of Our Paradise in Kailua

Beth was a great host! She was super helpful with advice on where to eat and visit, and literally lives across the street from the best beach on the island. In the morning we got a cup of coffee, and she would either give us fruit or a baked treat, or sometimes both. The only downside is that you share a bathroom with her kids and you are in a bedroom within their main house, so it's not the most private of accommodations. But, this also made it a really affordable place for us to stay. I would highly recommend it here, especially if you're looking for a less touristy place to stay.

Beth's place really IS a piece of paradise in Kailua. Located just over the road from a beautiful sandy beach and about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the local town, it is very well situated (particularly if, like us, you don't want to be obliged to drive everywhere). Beth's house is charming - our room was clean and pretty and we were given towels to use during our stay and had a TV in our room. There is an outside tiki bar area and a patio. We were also able to borrow beach towels, sun screen and a surfboard for the beach. Beth baked us some home made cakes and prepared fresh fruit fur us each morning and we had access to the coffee machine in the kitchen. This was an added bonus as we weren't expecting breakfast! Beth was very friendly and welcoming and happy to provide information about the local area. We felt that we were given excellent value for money and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beth's place - this was the first time we have used Airbnb and considering we were staying in someone's house (with Beth and her family), we felt extremely comfortable and at home. We would definitely recommend Beth's place to all and sundry!

Great location in Kailua, so close to an awesome beach with great swimming, Close to restaurants and grocery stores. Beth and family were very welcoming. We appreciated the use of some body boards, and Beth's delicious baking! We had a great time!

Beth was a first-class host. She and her adorable pups welcomed us warmly upon arrival and showed us the hidden neighborhood beach access trail. The room was fresh and cheery with a great view of the mountains. In the morning she even had warm scones baking. I would encourage anyone thinking of staying in Kailua to check with Beth first!

A comfortable home, very conveniently close to a great beach. Enjoyed our time in Kalua

We were told we'd only have to share the bathroom with 1 daughter but others were also using that bath, including host when she rented out her own bedroom to others. No bedroom key provided so we could only lock our door when we were inside; we chose to keep most things in the car trunk. It's not really off street parking either, open area in front of rental next door. One pastry and cup of coffee (when the Keurig was working) per person per day and one set of sheets and towels for the week, otherwise it was very hospitable. Just the facts Ma'am

1 block away from one of the prettiest beaches ever! Beth and her family were wonderful and even made my husband a birthday cake (which was delicious). Would stay there again for sure. A big thank you to the whole family and air kisses to Lilly( the new puppy).

My second stay with Beth and John was even better than the first. Same high standards of cleanliness and order. I LOVED my room, luxurious living in a gentle breeze and I could hear the ocean from my room. High speed internet connection is awesome and working from my room or the Tiki Bar was easy. I love the freedom of being able to walk out the gate in my swimsuit, coverup, flip flops and sunglasses, get to the beach in three minutes and walk and swim for hours without being needing stuff; not even a room key. Surrounded with gorgeous flowers and sweet smells in the house and garden is paradise. Perfect hosts complete the picture. Thank you.

Deeeelightful. Beth and John were excellent hosts. The studio was clean, quiet and very close to one of the nicest and least crowded beaches in Hawaii. Beth went out of her way to make sure we were welcomed and knew where to go and things to do. Kailua is one of the best kept secrets of Hawaii. One of the best parts of AirBnB is by the end of your trip it doesn't feel like a transaction, but more like you just went somewhere and stayed with friends. Frank and Laurel

Beth had delicious pastries and coffee going every morning. She's really friendly but not intrusive. The studio was very comfortable and private. We were a 3 minute walk from a gorgeous beach. I also got to wrestle with the cute doggies every day. It's all very sweet.

Excellent location, the best Beach in Wahoo, white fine sand with turquoise calm water. Beth and her family are warm and welcoming. She bakes the most delicious pastries for breakfast. Excellent unlimited coffee. We were always satisfied with breakfast. Away from the big city and traffic and close enough if you really need to get there. Maddie and lily (the dogs), were sweet and so entertaining. Very clean, quiet and friendly home. Beautiful location in the island. We strongly recommend this place and we want to go back.

What a great place to stay, the freshly baked muffins were a great way to start the day(Thanks Beth) and the peace and quiet were the perfect ending.

Beth and family were very welcoming and showed me the ropes very quickly! Excellent bedroom with bathroom attached! Very close to the beach! Much quieter feel than Waikiki which is totally the point in staying on this side of Oahu! Beth invited me for cake as the night I was there the family was celebrating a family members birthday! Very nice gesture and she is an excellent baker! Morning banana bread and fruit was also excellent. Beth's husband switched my load of laundry from the dryer to the washer so I wouldn't have to wait around all morning to get my laundry done! Also circumstances were excellent and I was granted a very late checkout! Definitely appreciated!

Beth and John were righteous hosts! Their two dogs were a lot of fun too. We really enjoyed the plethura of knowledge on island hot spots and great deals in Kailua for food and stuff. The walk to the beach is a bit dicey, the road to cross is very busy during morning and evening rush hour, but once there, the beach is crazy beautiful and therapeutic. The room we stayed in downstairs was tropical and clean and the bathroom was better than any five star hotel in waikiki for sure.

Beth and her family were incredibly friendly and helpful. The ocean was a short walk away, about two blocks to a long, beautiful beach. The house was lovely and very clean.

My boyfriend (her nephew) and I stayed with Beth and her family while visiting Hawaii. She picked us up at the airport with fresh lays and told us all about the island's fascinating history the whole way home. She is especially knowledgeable about Kailua (she does live there afterall). Every morning we would come downstairs to fresh fruit and pastries and would enjoy a cup of coffee in the very open downstairs kitchen area or outside in the beautiful garden. She always had suggestions of places to visit, eat, and hike. We had such a great stay and couldn't have asked for a better host!

We are very lucky to have met Beth and her family when we were re-locating to Hawaii in September of 2011. We were initally met Beth, and her family we quickly realized that we were building a friendship that would endure for many years to come! Beth was more than welcoming in helping us with our move to the island. Beth and her families generosity was just what we needed during our transition. Beth's home and Lanai is beautiful, spacious, and just a block away from the most beautiful beach in Oahu. We would highly recommend Beth and her family to other Airbnb members!

I am married to Beth's cousin but had never met her and her family until our visit to Oahu in 2009. We made a return trip in August of 2011. Prior to our first visit, we contacted Beth for vacation ideas. Her activity suggestions were right on the mark. We were lucky enough to spend a day with her and her family on both trips and enjoyed her accommodations immensely. Her wonderfully inviting kitchen and family sitting area are so comfortable. The beach is easy walking distance from her house. It seems like a private beach after experiencing the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Our favorite was the courtyard just outside the house. It is just a perfectly secluded area to sit and unwind with a glass of lemonade or your favorite umbrella drink after a fun day on the beach. I highly recommend staying with Beth while visiting Kailua!
