THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Highland Park is a part of the city of Los Angles, and is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. The neighborhood is set up in a hilly area above Downtown along the Arroyo Seco, making it feel like a smaller town within a large metropolis. It is urban, yet suburban at the same time. Highland Park is in a "Historic Preservation Overlay Zone", making it uniquely different from other parts of Los Angeles, with lots of historic houses, old trees, vast park lands, and well preserved architecture. The neighborhood is often referred to as "Old L A". There is a collection of new hip restaurants, bars, a very popular gastro-pub and other stores along York Blvd, as well as a few places on Figueroa St. But York is where all the trendy stuff is happening lately. Highland park is a haven for creative, friendly and down to earth people, and you are sure to make a friend or two if you spend enough time here. At the same time, in 10 minutes you can be in Downtown and the rest of Southern California beyond, making Highland Park, in our opinion, a great neighborhood to hang your hat!

We are warm and friendly hosts, both native to Southern California. Come experience the real Los Angeles, stay with friendly native Angelinos!

Ricky & Harvey were really outstanding hosts. It was like to visit family. The house is very nice, including a beautiful and large backyard. The room is perfect, very clean, large, and it has a flat screen TV with Roku box. The pets (Max, Carlitos, Chiquita, and Batman) are very friendly. I'll miss to throw the ball that Max chases. Gracias por todo Ricky & Harvey!

Response from Harvey:
Thanks for staying with us Dan. But I think you are confusing our back yard with someone else's because we don't have any champagne fountains. :/ Sounds fun though!

Excellent place. Harvey is a nice, laid back host and the place was clean, with all of the promised amenities. Only downside is that the room overlooks a major road, so it is a bit loud.

Harvey has 4 lovely dogs and an independent cat. They are awesome. Their owners are also awesome. Harvey and Ricky gave us really good advice for a day trip to the San Gabriel mountains. My wife is now smitten with Highland Park and LA. Would stay again.

I am a professional male and my life partner, Ricky and I own the house and live here together. We are both chefs. Ricky is a private chef in Santa Monica. I recently left my life long business career in catering and restaurants to pursue a career as a Holistic Nutritionist. I currently work on growing my private practice, blogging about nutrition and healthful foods, and running an on-line weight management and nutrition coaching program. We love having guests in our home and people love staying in our guest room. We are very friendly and love to socialize, and we also love those peaceful moments in time when everyone finds their own personal corner on the property to relax and rejuvenate. We look forward to hosting and meeting a lot of new people!!!!!!
