  What a great place and what great people. Don and Joy were excellent and gracious hosts. The place was super clean and Don provided great tips on places to go and things to see. I loved that they let us use their beach chairs and mats, snorkeling gear, and most of all the igloo cooler to take cold drinks to the beach. We enjoyed the mangos from that fell on the driveway from the neighbors tree as well. We even went to visit their church, Calvary Chapel in Kehei. It was a real blessing. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks Don and Joy.

  We felt like we were at home. My 5 year old daughter and I recently stayed at Hale Mohalu and we will be back. We live across the ocean blue on the island of Lana'i and when we need to get to Maui for a night or two away, we will be staying here. Very clean, thoughtfully designed and decorated, very comfortable. I recommend this spot for all.

  Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Hale Mohalu. Don and Joy were excellent hosts and we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to the 3 bedroom house which was very much appreciated. They thought of everything to help our stay be memorable, the hawaiian decor that flavored every room and made it fun, right down to the Safeway card to get deals on food.   We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed every bit of it. The unit was quiet and very comfortable. We had everything we needed and the price was absolutely unbeatable. Next time to Maui we will try and stay here again.

  The room was just as cute, nice and clean as the picture shows. I'm pretty picky about cleanliness and everything was up to par. Joy was fabulous, in that we had a personal need that came up and (two weeks before we even stayed at her place!) she did some research for us and helped us out with our problem (and it was at nighttime!) I'd highly recommend staying here.

  Joy and Don are wonderful hosts. The cottage was comfortable, VERY well appointed and absolutely perfect for us. The property is only 1 block from Long's (a Hawaiian institution that CVS was smart enough not to try to take over) and only 2 blocks from the grocery store. We were attending a conference in Wailea and saved more than a thousand dollars by not staying in the hotel and being able to make many of our meals at home. You can stroll to the beach for sunsets or breakfast on the beach and it is a quick drive to some of the very best beaches on all of Maui. I recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet homey place to stay on Maui!

  The two bedroom cottage that we stayed in was perfect! It was great to have our own deck space, and the location was great- close to many beaches and amenities, but not in the thick of the condo/touristy areas. We loved having our own kitchen. The whole place was comfy and very relaxing. Highly recommended! Don's recommendation for snorkeling was spot on!

  Joy and her partner made our stay just wonderful. The bungalow was our restful retreat after a day of adventuring in beautiful Maui. It was the little touches that really made our stay: the guidebooks that were made available to the tenants, the beach chairs and boogie boards, the kitchen and its ingredients. The only negative is that it is a bit further north in Kihei than the beaches, however we didn't mind at all. The best beaches are further south than most accommodation, so you'd most likely be driving to them anyways...plus, if you want to see the attractions across the island (Lahaina, the Road to Hana, Haleakala, 'Iao Valley), you're closer to the action!

  We very much enjoyed our stay here. Joy and Don were great hosts. Joy welcomed us and gave us lots of advice about local services and amenities and Don told us some great places to go snorkeling and diving. They even offered to lend us their ocean kayak and found us a book on local fish-life! The apartment was a great place to hang out in the evenings after a day in the ocean. It was very clean, had decent furnishings and a large kitchen with basic equipment and even some condiments and spices. Lots of storage space everywhere and the bed was a good size and not too soft. There's also a great verandah on which you can hang out and enjoy the garden. Large living room so it's a great place for a family or even two couples! Great location: 5 minutes walk to a small white-sand beach where you can kayak, 10 minutes drive to the main beaches in South Kihei and the main restaurant strip. Couple of local fruit stalls and a craft fair within a 5- 10 minute walk south. On the main road but the house is in the back of a very large lot, so you don't hear any traffic. Glad to stay with Joy and Don and support local people!
