I had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful city of New York recently, which was made even more spectacular by the host I had the pleasure of getting to know whilst I was residing at her apartment for nearly a month!!!! I began missing New York and Miriam's apartment as soon as I boarded my plane back to Melbourne.
Miriam was a wonderful, flexible and accommodating host I have ever stayed with, ensuring I was settled in from the minute I landed in New York, and contactable by on her cell or email from the get-go. So much that when I was left stranded thanks to my Airline, Miriam was more than happy to accommodate me!
The space of which I resided in for nearly a month was spacious and comfortable despite it being the living room. The bedroom is so spacious, much bigger than your average studio apartment. The space is separated from the rest of the apartment by a shoji screen, your privacy and space is respected for the entire time you are there. But having said that if you wanted to chat Miriam was always there to lend a friendly ear if you needed one.
The fold out bed was super comfortable, it proved to be the best ailment for my jet lag and a comfy bed to retire in after a day of exploring NYC! And having 2 heaters in the room meant that it was very super cozy, great after enduring the frigid winds that had swept through the city!!!
Having full use of the kitchen was excellent to stay within my food budget, but if you were ever too lazy to cook, Miriam has a FANTASTIC collection of take-away menus for you to pick and choose to your hearts content, after-all what better way to get to get to know New York is to enjoy the the many delights it has to offer!!! There is also a laundromat in the building so you don't have to travel far to get your laundry done.
The neighborhood is very quiet and safe! Although i was apprehensive at the beginning of my trip about new york -it truly is the most safest city to live in! Also entry to the apartment building is via a security key operated system and then up via the lift, so you know you're safe! The other two housemates, Spike and Pepper were a bliss too. They kept very much to themselves, so much you forgot they were even there! Did I mention the location???? Miriam's apartment was situated in the hub of everything that is NEW YORK! Subway and buses literally around the corner, but since Miriam's location was so close to everything, you can just walk!!!
Miriam went to extraordinary lengths to ensure my stay in new york was the most memorable and enjoyable time ever! Thank you Miriam for EVERYTHING!! I would love to host you or any member of your family should they ever want to come and visit Melbourne!!! It has been a pleasure getting to know you!
