The neighborhood

Moseley has a reputation as the most bohemian suburb of South Birmingham, famous as the home of the young JRR Tolkein, UB40, Moseley Ruby Club and as the heart of Birmingham's Balti (North Indian/Pakistani foods) area. We are yards from its busy heart with many shops, pubs, coffee houses and restaurants. Buses run to the city just 2 miles away every 5 minutes. Transport links of all sorts are freely available to get visitors to The NEC and the NIA as well as national and local trains, the airport and the motorway network. Edgbaston cricket ground is a very short walk away as is the Edgaston Priory Club, home to the Aegon Classic womens' pre-Wimbledon grass court tournament. Ours is a large house so privacy is not a problem, we have wireless broadband We have a lovely sunny south facing garden with a large terrace, we grow vegetables and fruit at the bottom of the garden and have access via a private gate to Moseley Park and Pool, 10 acres of beautiful green space.Moseley Park hosts two popular music festivals each year, Jazz and Folk, now acquiring a major national and international following.
We have lived in Moseley for over 30 years and love it. We hope you will too

Getting around

Public transport of all sorts is easy and available. We have space for a car to be parked on our drive.A taxi from/to the airport is around £25 but there are cheaper train and bus links . Trains into Birmingham terminate at New Street or Moor Street both only minutes away from us by car or easily accessed by the number 50 bus. Access to the motorway network in all directions is simple and close.

Other things to note

Welcome! You will be provided with keys to the house and garden and instructed in the use of the security system. Please keep the house secure just as we do.

Kathryn and I have used airbnb when travelling for the past few years and have really appreciated what it offers.
We decided to start welcoming travellers to Birmingham last November and have enjoyed hosting very much.
We live in a large and comfortable Victorian(1896) house in a quiet road but in a busy and vibrant area. Our children have grown up so we have only our two cats in residence.
We understand and respect our guests' right to privacy but will willingly share our knowledge of the city and it's surrounds if needed.
Moseley has a deserved reputation as the most diverse and bohemian suburb of the city with many and different cafés restaurants and pubs as well as simple access to the city, the university and the motorway network.
I am a keen motorcyclist, Kathryn a keen gardener. We both work and lead busy lives but have time to enjoy the company of our many and very varied guests.
We look forward to meeting you if you would care to come and stay with us.
