This is a third floor walk-up apartment which is nestled in-between two shady London Plane Trees. There is always plenty of free parking on the street and the apartment is located within 1 block of 3 well-rated restaurants, the best coffeeshop in the city, a small convenience market selling many local, organic foods, and a Saturday morning bakery that is worth waking up for. Highland Park is four blocks away and is home to beautiful gardens, short nature trails, a reservoir, and a magical, wooden, castle-like playground. After you've filled up with good food and have gotten your outdoor fix, two buses stop at the corner and will take you to Oakland or Downtown for entertainment.

I arrange my home as a quiet, simple, relaxing retreat and hope that others can find healing and nourishment there. There are plenty of books for reading, a radio for listening, wifi for surfing, and a DVD player for viewing. You will have the entire apartment to yourself for your entire stay, however as a host, I will welcome you and leave some materials to help you find your way around.

Some specifics on the apartment:
The bedroom gets brilliant morning light. Clean bed linens, fluffed pillows and a fresh duvet will greet you upon arrival. This room has a desk, a reading chair, a chest for storage and a full size bed.

The living room has a vaulted ceiling with wooden beams and a ceiling fan. It is cozy and warm in the evenings and is a wonderful place to unwind after a day of exploring. There is a television and DVD player in this room, however there is no cable television or antenna box in the apartment.

If you have more than one or two guests in your party or have some little ones tagging along, the couch and full-size aerobed are available for sleeping, too. The apartment could reasonably accommodate up to 4 folks who are friendly with each other.

The kitchen is decorated with photographs from my travels. It has all basic necessities for cooking and plenty of dishes for serving. You may use the refrigerator, too. To get you started, I leave items for a self-serve continental breakfast.

The bathroom is tiny but functional. It has only a shower stall (no bathtub). I try to be eco-friendly and have a small hot water tank to conserve both water and energy. I provide plenty of clean towels and linens for your use.

My apartment is pet free aside from my unexpectedly hearty goldfish, Olive. My downstairs neighbor does have two cats.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the apartment or with any special needs related to arrangements.

I hope you have a good stay in Pittsburgh!

  • The Tree Nook is a lovely cozy apartment. Jessica , who was away while our family stayed there, has created a very comfortable and welcoming home, and she was a thoughtful and attentive host. We've stayed in many neighborhoods in Pittsburgh and we really liked Highland Park. it was a nice mix of people, and it was great to walk around the neighboring park then sit out on the front with our dinner and enjoy the evening.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at the Tree Nook for three nights this last week and had a great experience! The place was clean, cozy and well decorated. We also found the neighborhood to be fairly central to a lot of the things we wanted to check out. Jessica was a wonderful host and I would definitely stay at the Tree Nook again on my next trip to Pittsburgh.

  • Recently spent a weekend in Pittsburgh for daughter's graduation. The Highland Park Tree Nook was charming and a wonderful location from which to explore the city. Jessica was a gracious hostess and anticipated all our needs. I would definitely stay at the Tree Nook on my next visit to the burgh.

  • Jessica is a wonderful hostess. Very considerate, generous, and respectful. I believe that we inadvertently inconvenienced her by requesting an additional night at the beginning of our stay, causing her to clean the place a day early when she had to prepare for a class she was teaching that evening - she barely mentioned it, though we figured it out (thanks, Jess, so sweet of you). Her home is beautiful, cute, cozy. A great experience in a nice neighborhood.

  • SUMMARY: Cute place, great location, welcoming host - two thumbs up! THE HOST: Jessica was the perfect host - responsive but not in our hair. She managed to strike the perfect balance. She was also really flexible with our late check-out --- 5pm, that's a record for us! We really appreciated that. THE APARTMENT: The place is super cute and cozy - definitely a charming spot. Well decorated with loads of personality. Jessica leaves breakfast making materials for the morning, which was a nice surprise, with a good selection of coffees and teas. She also has a cute fish to keep you company, and a cozy couch to watch movies at night. LOCATION: It's right next to some amazing restaurants and coffee shops, like (website hidden) - we had a cappuccino there every single morning. We were also able to take a nice stroll in the nearby park, and even ran to the Pittsburgh Zoo, which was awesome - no car required! Street parking is super easy, we had no problems with that, and we felt really safe. No sketchy people roaming around, just a lot of sweet adorable young families and cool 20-30 somethings. There were only two cons, both minor for us: 1. If you're used to really long hot showers, then you'll have to adjust. She has an eco-friendly water heater which means hot water runs out after 7 minutes or so. 2. If you have a bad back, you may find the bed uncomfortable as the mattress is very soft. I felt like I was sleeping on a cuddly cloud, so I didn't mind it, but it might prove bothersome to those with back issues or a serious preference for hard mattresses. All in all, we LOVED our stay and would definitely recommend Jessica's nook to anyone.

  • I stayed at the Tree Nook with my partner for our anniversary and our stay was wonderful! Jessica was very accommodating and the apartment was clean and very comfortable. The place is really adorable. We were sad to leave!

  • We had a wonderful time at the "Tree Nook". Jessica was a perfect host checking on us, providing all we need for our breakfast ..and very flexible. We were visiting our son who is doing his internship in Pittsburgh. It is a great location for getting around without getting into the high traffic areas. The nook is cute and comfy. Definitely recommend! Jackie and Joe Charleston, SC

We loved the Tree Nook! Our stay was perfect. The apartment itself is incredible cozy and we felt right at home. Jessica was a lovely host. She provided delicious coffee and breakfast treats us. She also provided us with plenty of info about restaurants in the area and things to do. Its also in a really cute and quiet part of town right by a huge park. Many thumbs up!

  • Tree Nest is a clean, comfortable and artful accommodation. Jessica provides a welcoming, warm atmosphere. The street is quiet for good sleeping and the neighborhood is packed with great dining spots. We loved the place!

  • Super cozy, comfortable apartment convenient to delicious food and coffee as well as a peaceful park! Jessica was very responsive and helpful. We <3 the Tree Nook!
