Hello!
This is some information about our place, if you are interested why not send us a message, we are normally very quick to respond :)
What we offer:
A 30 min walking tour in the Gothic quarter around the apartment for inside tips on Catalan traditions, Spanish culture, great restaurants, nice cafe's, funky bars, historical sites, Gaudi buildings and great things to see and do in Barcelona.
WiFi connection.
There is also clean towels, sheets and a fan (Barcelona is hot during the summer!)
(toilet paper, soap, washing powder for your clothes)
There is also the washing machine if you need it, and of course there is a basic kitchen if you don't want to eat out. There is a shower that has hot water 24 hours a day and my grandmother, Rosa, cleans the house every day.
About the room:
This is a super huge room in the centre of Barcelona. It has a dining table, a king size Japanese bed, a single bed, two balconies and plenty of space to store your things. This used to be my room and I really styled the room to be comfortable, peaceful and romantic. The bed in particular is really cosy and comfortable plus it feels like a separate room when you close the curtains. I left books, candles and little lamps to make you feel in control of the mood!
We really tried to create an environment that allows our guests to feel that they are in their own home. There is an option to host up to 4 people without making the room overcrowded.
It is my humble (!) opinion that this is a GREAT location to stay in if you are visiting Barcelona. Once here you will see that you are in the midst of the daily humdrum of Barcelona living!
The room itself is very private from the rest of the apartment with a long corridor leading into it. You will love the view of the street below form the balconies. It’s a very energetic and lively street with many typical day to day scenes from Barcelona; one could nearly understand this cities life simply from watching the street from the balcony.
There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and toilet and the other with just a toilet and wash basin. This authentic apartment is full of Catalan memories with old Spanish tiles in the kitchen and bathroom, wooden beams all along the apartment and typical Spanish shutters. This traditional apartment is huge (185m squared) with this room measuring 60m2 just to yourself.
It is perfect for couples on a romantic week-end, travellers wanting an authentic stay in Barcelona or even a small family in search of the many activities for kids and parents alike.
(Parents of small children should note there are two lovely playgrounds just around the corner from the apartment, each safely enclosed and in full view of the outdoor restaurants.)
The room has 3 big window shutters and is very well lit, it has double glazing for the noise but some noise still gets through, so if you are a very light sleeper bring ear plugs!
NOTE: We just moved apartment so we do not live in this apartment but we live a few minutes away and visit the house twice a day, we also try to organize tours so every guest has the opportunity to go on one (more than 4 tours per week)
About the price:
There is a 15 euro charge per extra guest. There is no charge for children under 3 :)
About the location:
The apartment is located in the centre of Barcelona in the 1st District “ La Ciutat Vella”, it is in the heart of the Gothic quarter next to "Plaza Reial" with lanterns by Gaudi and a step away from The Famous pedestrian boulevard " The Ramblas" (The main street in Barcelona) with Gaudi's building "Palau Guell" 1 Min away. We are situated close to most of the well-known tourist attractions. The apartment is on "Escudellers street" famous for having its old restaurants and Catalan Tapas bars. There is also ‘’Plaza St. George Orwell’ (locally known as “Plaza Tripi"), all around the corner. The nearby streets contain many of the city's most emblematic buildings.
The narrow, winding streets create quite a labyrinth meaning it can take a while to get one's bearings! I recommend that you should always look up and around in case of missing some of the nicest sites. The Gothic quarter has plenty of peaceful squares (plazas) where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. If we are around during your stay I will gladly take you on a tour of the neighbourhood so you can find your feet here!
Transport is easily accessible in this part of town (metro, taxi, bus). However this quarter is relatively small and most of the city’s attractions are a walk away distance.
Getting to the apartment couldn’t be easier with the shuttle bus leaving the airport regularly to “Plaza Cataluña”. The apartment is roughly 12 minutes walk from Plaza Cataluña down the Ramblas. Or alternatively one stop on the metro to “Liceu” L3 (green line) leaving you a minute away. There is also a taxi stand 30 meters down the street plus 24h underground parking.
