This was a great place to stay with kids. There is lots of room and everything you need for cooking and relaxing. Beds were very comfy and the air conditioning in each room was helpful in taking off the edge at night (if you're not used to the heat). The kitchen has everything that you need and was very clean when we arrived. Car - We found that having a car was useful - we had not been to Costa Rica before and explored a new beach pretty much every day. The closest beach (Playa Penca) is not far, walkable but we drove - have a few Colones for the guy "working" the parking. There is no shade around the pool in the afternoon, which is too bad (we were there in March and it was very hot in the afternoon so we ended up hanging out mostly on the porch in the shade if there had been some shade over the pool the kids would have spent the afternoon there easily). Highly recommend the Diamante animal park (back up the Monkey road toward the Riu resort) and a Palo Verde river tour (if the owners of the opposite end unit are there ask them to put you in touch with Manuel he's great). Sunsets are fantastic on the beach. We weren't visited by the monkeys but they were often hanging out around the football field. The area is quite rural and you are definitely away from most of the tourists in this area. You are also away from most light pollution and the stars are beautiful! We had one scorpion visitor in the lower level (found under a backpack) so I'd use caution/flip flops when walking around down there at night and check shoes before putting them on. Also at night - leave the kitchen window curtain open and you may get some cool visitors - we watched a praying mantis eating bugs like our own personal bug zoo! Overall I would recommend this unit and area of Costa Rica we had a fabulous time.

We loved our visit for 2 weeks in February to Villa Celeste; it is comfortable and well equipped, on a hill with beautiful views from the decks, of the ocean and surrounding areas. We had 2 beautiful beaches, several shops and restaurants within walking distance, and many other interesting places within a 10-15 minute drive. We took 2 brief excursions, one a catamaran sailing trip and the other to a national park for a day, but otherwise had plenty to do right around Potrero. Our friends who stayed longer did other trips which were more distant but equally enjoyable. The location is perfect for total R & R or as a base for other day trips. Some of our neighbors had young children, and they were having a great time as well. The pool right outside is truly a delight and a great way to meet the neighbors in the other 2 homes. Would love to return!

We had a great time at Villa Celeste. The home is comfortable, the views are amazing, the little town has most everything you need within walking distance. The 3 beaches within easy walking distance are each unique. We stayed for a month and enjoyed every minute. Lindsey and her staff who manages the property is amazing. We would definitely return and recommend the villa. Thank you Phyllis for the opportunity to stay in your home!

The house was as described and had everything to make our stay very comfortable. We loved the layout for our family of 4 as it gave everyone enough room so we weren't under foot for our two week vacation. The view was amazing and we loved the quiet little town of Potrero. The beach was a short walk away (about 10 minuets) and had one of the best beaches around; it was very clean, quiet and warm ocean water. Potrero is a very small town with only 2 small grocery stores and a few small restaurants. We would rent a car next time as the buses were not very reliable and you would need to call a taxi as they were not readily available in town. We would definitely not hesitate to stay here in the future as we loved the home, the town, the beach and the view! We even had a troop of monkeys in the trees outside the front door one morning! We loved Costa Rica. The Costa Rican people are very friendly and helpful and we loved the layed back feel.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica. We had a wonderful month in Potrero. It is the perfect town if you are looking for a local experience away from the big resorts. The view of the bay was wonderful and there is great wildlife viewing right from your deck. The howler monkeys and chickens got you up each morning. The views were even nice on those wet days in the rainy season with great lighting shows in the sky. Two beaches and a few places to eat were walkable but the last couple hundred yards back up to the villa is up a very steep hill. Several other beaches and places to eat were just a short drive. The villa is nicely furnished and has almost everything you need for the beach such as umbrellas, towels, rafts, etc. The villa had a lot of nice touches and if we needed something we usually found it in the villa. The small pool was just what we needed for a break from the heat. We had a couple issues such as a water leak and an A/C unit that stopped working. The manager, Lindsey, was very responsive and got a repair person out for a quick fix each time. Lindsey was also helpful getting us a cleaning lady and helping us with any little thing we needed. She got us in touch with a shuttle service from the airport and a local car rental place that dropped off and picked up the car at the villa for no extra charge. Get four wheel drive if you really want to explore. Phyllis the owner was also very nice and helpful. She and her husband gave us plenty of suggestions for things to do and places to see or eat. You can use the villa as a base for many different day tours if you want to see more than the beaches. There is even a bar, La Perla, within a short drive that has good draft beer which is unique as it was the only draft beer I found in the country. Overall we had a wonderful experience and fell in love with Costa Rica.

The condo was absolutely wonderful! It had everything a traveler could need or want in a location. One of the better places I have stayed at in Guanacaste. The views from the third level balcony are amazing. I highly recommend.

Beautiful home, tastefully decorated. We enjoyed sunset views from the decks each night. It easily accommodated two couples. We exchanged rooms in the middle of our stay so we could each enjoy the “Crow’s nest” high up in the trees. We saw many birds including two types of humming birds in the morning, iguana that lived in the drainpipe and a troop of howler monkeys in a tree by the road. The kitchen was well equipped with granite counters and plenty of cooking tools. We were disappointed that the dishwasher was not operating. The property manager offered to send a repair guy, but we did not think it would be easy to repair and decided to live without it. While it is a walk to the beach, it is not long and we would walk there multiple times during the day. The beaches are glorious. Playa Potrero is miles long for walks and a restaurant on the beach. Playa Penca is lovely for swimming and you have it nearly to yourselves. Both have lots of shade and are protected from large waves. We choose not to rent a car. This meant we needed to walk or get a taxi if we wished to venture from the house. We usually walked but realized we needed a better way to get a taxi. If we had a phone, it would have worked fine but our phones didn't work and were too lazy to figure out . We tried emailing the woman managing the property and she was very responsive but as this was email, it took time and we did not plan well. If I went here, again I would have made sure I had a way to use a phone or rent a car. This is remote and there are no passing taxis to hail. You need to call them. Another warning is this is rural Costa Rica; everyone has chickens, bring good earplugs the roosters never sleep.

Response from Phyllis:
Thanks for the positive comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The dishwasher is getting fixed but waiting for parts. We do have a cell phone that guests can arrange to use for a fee as we pay for the minutes etc. yes there are roosters an howlers in the morning and I guess we are just used to them and we are always up early so we don't miss any of that sun time. Many Ticos have and use so it is a good idea to have it on your laptop when you come down. The information book has #'s to call for cabs etc. Lindsey our property manager is very responsive when emailed as it shows up on her iPhone. Thanks Steve for the feedback as it helps me improve on things for the next guests. Pura Vida. Phyllis

I am married with two sons. I work full time in the Health Care Field and my husband Darrell is a geologist. We love to travel and spend as much time as we can at our Villa in Costa Rica. We fell in love with Costa Rica many many years ago and have had our place for three years. We love to explore and travel on rough roads looking for wildlife and pristine beaches that we have to ourself. We love to kayak, zipline, walk, hike, photography and explore new areas. Our place is in a quiet neighbourhood that is not heavily commercialized. I am learning spanish so that i can fully immerse myself in the culture. We live on fresh fruit and veggies and fresh caught seafood. We love to sail and always see dolphins, rays, turtles, etc.
We are both easy going people but like excitement as well as a time to chill.
