Michail and his family were very kind and ready to help. When we arrived the manager of the villa was waiting for us in the house. There was food in the fridge, water, mosquito repellent, maps of the island (not of the surroundings though), the bath was fully equipped, so everything in general was perfectly ready for us to start living in the house. The villa is very nice, big and bright, but also very old. Particularly wooden furniture like doors or drawers (particularly those in the kitchen) are expanded due to the humidity, so they get blocked, do not open properly or do not close (bathroom door for example); also door locks and plugs are in bad condition. Some light switches work, but some other don’t. House insurance does not cover accidental breaks.
Kitchen is very bright, with a great main table ideal to have breakfast and chat with family or friends. However the place for cooking is small and electric, so you can cook simple things but not anything sophisticated. Beds are generally big and comfortable. Air conditioned works great in all the rooms except in one which is equipped with a nice fan. Wi-fi is poor, unstable and with a narrow bandwidth, it flows through a mobile modem for which we were asked to leave a deposit of 50 EUR which was returned to us when we left. There was no info about how to use the TV, so only in the last days we found out by chance that the TV had cable. The house is located at the main road to Rhodes, so there is heavy traffic noise day and night. The backyard is wonderful but we did not use it due to summer heat and the traffic noise. It takes about 10-15 minutes by car to get to the center of the old city of Rhodes and there is space for parking the car (in case you have it) in a road very near the house. Overall we liked Rhodes very much and the house and Michail’s hospitality despite traffic noise and problems deriving from the old condition of the house.
