Conveniently Queens with two rooms

My boyfriend and I stayed for 9 days. We didn't meet Rafael during our stay but Martha gave us a warm welcome and an orientation of the basement. The place had everything we needed and was private, which was what we we looking for. Martha and Rafael are sensitive to what guests need. Their place was equipped with everything, even the little things for guests to have an enjoyable stay. There were movies, take-out menus, towels, The location is nice and convenient. It's about a 10 min walk to the subway. We were usually out in the morning and return late at night but the neighbourhood is pretty safe. The convenience stores around the area open till late too. There are a great variety of food, so no worries to cure any hunger pangs! All in all, it was very comfortable and delightful stay at Rafael's place. Would definitely recommend this place!

I highly recommend staying with Rafael in Queens! I needed a short term place to stay while looking for a permanent home in NYC. I am new to the city and was unsure of where would be a good place to stay. Rafael's studio is quiet and clean, close to the subway and has a laundromat right around the corner. I was able to orient myself to the city without going crazy. Rafael was very helpful and easy to deal with. Overall, a great place to stay.

This is a really wonderful apartment. Very clean and comfortable and even larger than the pictures imply! I had a great 4 week stay here. Arrival and organisations were all very good. The apartment is a 10 minute walk from the subway and it generally took about 30 minutes into Times Square. I would highly recommend this apartment!

Great stay! I stayed here for just over a month and was very comfortable. As I enjoyed my stay I thought I'd flesh out the details a bit for you, the next guest. To clarify the description a bit this is a private entrance large bedroom with a large bathroom. There was a refrigerator, a microwave, a full set of dishware, glasses, cutlery and tools to clean them with. The bedroom is sunny, clean, quiet and recently refurbished with new floors and new furniture from ikea. The bed is a comfy queen, and there is a closet with plenty of room as well as two drawered side tables. Internet via wifi was provided and is fast and stable, and has a strong signal in this unit. The unit is in a converted home, where the upstairs has been converted into rental units and the downstairs is the hosts residence. So the on street entrance leads to an entry hall that provides access to all the units, each of which is doored off similar to an apartment building. It is entirely private and you will likely not run into anyone as you come and go. The host, Martha (Rafael is her son), is a very nice lady and was very friendly and helpful during my stay. She is knowledgable about the area and was immediately available on the few occasions over the month where I had a question. She provided fresh linens and towels throughout my stay which was very kind of her. The area is quiet and residential, about a 7 minute walk from the Grand Ave/Newtown subway station, which is on the MR lines. You are two stops away from Jackson Heights which provides access to the EMFR lines, and both JFK and LaGuardia airports are a straight shot from there. You can get to JFK for $7.50 via subway and the airtrain, if you dont want to splurge for a cab. It can take as little as 20m door to door to get into manhattan depending on where you are going, as the E train is express and fast. There is a large shopping mall just past the subway station, with many shops, restaurants, and some large stores including Target. There are a variety of small restaurants, corner stores, and laundromats within a few blocks. Target has a full supermarket, and there is a Stop & Shop supermarket about 10 minutes walk up the road. There is a laundromat a couple blocks away. Queens best pizza and a nice pan-hispanic restaurant are also about a block and a half away. I enjoyed my stay and I will probably be returning again soon!

When we arrived it was raining like crazy and we have walked from the subway with all of our luggage. Although we didn't meet Rafael during our 2 week stay, we met his lovely mother Martha who greeted us at the house. She gave us water and drinks so we didn't have to venture back out in the rain when we got in. The studio was even better in person. The photo does not do it justice. Everything was brand new, down to the bed, linens, and extras. They were very hospitable and available. Martha and her husband even gave us a ride with our luggage to the subway when we were leaving. Rafael and his mom are very gracious and friendly hosts. They both made me feel very welcome, and they respected my privacy. The apartment is comfortable, clean, and roomy - no surprises! Close to the train, and on a nice, quiet block. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Rafael was a great host, nice guy, very welcoming and I would definetly stay again next time I'm in the city. Nice room, cosy and not far from Venice and Marina Del Ray. All in all a great spot!

Rafael is a very thoughtful and responsive host. I really appreciate his flexibility in arranging to allow us to stay in his apartment when our other plans fell through at the very last moment. He has a beautiful apartment in Queens, very clean and stocked with everything we needed for our stay. A half hour trip on the subway got us to anywhere we wanted to go in Manhattan. Martha, who met us and gave us the keys, was extremely hospitable, even giving us a candle because she knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Kind people and beautiful accommodations - who could ask for more? Thank you, Rafael and Martha.

It was a very great experience staying at Rafael's place. It was a clean house in a quiet neighborhood. Rafael is also a very nice and responsible host.
