  • About: Meet Marta Jimeno, lead candidate for PACMA in the EU election. Marta is vicepresident of PACMA and lead candidate for the party in the EU election on 7th June in Spain. Marta has a degree in Veterinary Science in the branch of Animal Production, which she took at the University of León. She is a founding member of AVAT ( Society of Veterinarians for the Abolition of Bullfighting) . I was born in 1970 in Mondragón ( Guipúzcoa) . There I spent my childhood and secondary school years. At the time I used to be very keen on sports and I played basketball for the town’s team. When I was very young I started to feel an interest in the behaviour of other animals, which led me to the study of ethology, evolutive zoology and psychology. At 18 I went to the University of León to start my degree in Veterinary Science. During that time, I continued playing basketball. I took my degree in the branch of Animal Production. I chose this field of study, not because I particularly liked it, but because it was the one that worried me the most. Then I took some postgraduate courses on cetaceans, but eventually I decided to pursue my career on land. For 10 years now I have been working as a rural clinical vet in livestock extensive farming. With that work experience, and after overcoming a cancer, I decided it was time to start doing what I had always wanted to do: fight for the rights and freedom of non-human animals. One year ago, a few other colleagues and myself started the Society of Veterinarians for the Abolition of Bullfighting (AVAT) Nací en 1970 en Mondragon ( Guipúzcoa ) alli crecí, fui al instituto y jugué en el equipo de baloncesto de la ciudad .
